- Louisburg, NC, USA

I was scammed into using my social security number and birthday and address

A group of people are calling saying that our ss number has been found on paperwork in an abandoned car outside of a vacant building in texas. They are also saying that there is a warrant out for our arrest and charges are going to be brought against us. They call times of the day and different phone numbers.

When these people called to tell me someone is s using my social security number in Texas. When asked who are you, click. The social security office does not call I told them.

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA

Claiming they were from social security administration.

This was an automated call saying they were from the Social Security Administration and that there was a judgement against me in the State of Texas. They told me to press 1 to hear more about the case. I pressed one and the call ended.

- Bloomington, IL, USA

Told me that my SSN was stolen and I needed to talk to them to recover it. It seemed to be run out of a foreign call center. I quickly hung up so I do not know their full scam process.

I just answered a disturbing robocall on my home phone. Portrayed themselves as calling from the Social Security office. Something fraudulent happened. I'm being sued or warrant for my arrest. It scared me. I knew it was a scam and not to go any further. I hung up. The phone number in my caller ID was 216-358-5276. They are trying to trick you. Somebody could get into trouble. I wanted to report the fraudulent call. I called the phone number back. It is not working number.

- Cordova, TN, USA

Recorded message saying to press 1 because my SS# had been compromised and to ignore the call would be admission of fraud. Pressed one and East Indian sounding male came on line and answered Social Security Administration, how may I help you? I responded, "you called me". He then asked my name. I said again, "you called me". He hung up. Obvious...SCAM!

Caller left a voice mail message. They said they would issue a warrant for my arrest if I did not respond immediately to the number they gave me. Said he was a member of the drug enforcement department and there was illegal activity with my social security number. They said they would suspend my number.

- Lusby, MD, USA

threatend arrest because a warrant has been issued due to fraudulent activity on my social security number. when questioned, they hung up. i've received 10 calls in the last 48 hours from different numbers with the exact same scam.

Was told to press 1 to speak to a collections officer - Social Security was going to be cancelled because of fraudulent activity. Obviously a scam, hung up. Got multiple calls from same number just this afternoon.

- Cook, NE, USA

The call I received was from an automatic caller saying the call was from the Social Security Administration and then the call was disconnected. I know the Administration does not make phone calls. I hope this helps the next victim.

- Corpus Christi, TX, USA

The man said his name was Albert Brown, badge number: SS997842, from the Social Security Administration.

He told me that the DEA was after me and the US Department of Treasury would be at my home in a few days giving me a new Social Security card.

I called the DEA and they said it was a scam.

I then called the Social Security Administration and they said that my social security card was fine.

I have been the victim of identity theft in the past, however, that was all reported.

The caller a

asked if I was a certain person and I suspected it was a scam so I gave him a fictitious name and he continued to tell me that my Social Security card had been used in a bad way. I asked him to give me my card number and he told me I wasn’t cooperating and that if I didn’t cooperate that I would go to jail. I mentioned to him that he called me thinking I was one person and I told him that I was not who he intended to call so how can this be the case? He then went on with some explicit language and told me that I would be going to jail and I told him that I would wait for the police and he hung up on me.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

I received a call from the “social security administration“ stating that my Ssa# had been fraudulently used in So Texas. Press 1 to speak to an administrator. When I pressed 1, they hung up. I should have realized this was a fake call when they asked me to press 1. I’m wondering if they have hacked into my phone.
