- Amarillo, TX, USA

I received a call. I did not answer not knowing who it was from. A message was left that stated my Social Security number was placed on hold because of suspicious activity and to press "1" now to speak with a representative. I received two of these calls so far. I placed both numbers in this website.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

I received a voicemail on my cell phone from a male voice that claimed to be with Social Security, They said that if I didn't acknowledge right away they would shut my account down. That's when I hung up. I called Social Security and they confirmed it was a scam.

Social security benefits would be cancelled unless she presses 1.

- Fort Pierce, FL, USA

I received a phone call from someone stating that they are a social security administrator. They told me there was a problem with my social security number and this was an attempt to collect a debt. They asked me for my name. I gave them right first name wrong last name. Then they asked me to verify my social security number. I asked them to tell me what number they had on file. They said that if I didn't cooperate that they would have to turn my case over to the authorities. I said fine because this conversation is being recorded anyways. They hung up.

- Papillion, NE, USA

They told me my social security number was going to be ceased and to provide my birthdate. They said I was under police investigation. Just call the number back. It is not ok.

- Lexington, KY, USA

I received a phone call with voicemail from 605 988 6890. The voicemail stated they will be forced to take legal action against me and to call them back, but did not state why or what for. I called the number back and they answered the phone stating they were the social security administration. I asked them where they were and they said Texas, the number came up as being in Sioux Falls, SD. I said I didn't believe them to really be the social security administration and they hung up. I called the number back and asked them why the social security office would be calling me from out of state and they hung up again. There was a lot of background noise going on and both gentlemen had very thick accents.

- Fort Stewart, GA, USA

I am constantly receiving phone calls from the "Social Security Administration", stating that my social security number has been compromised. When I ask them how they never answer and then ask me for my social. I tell them this phone call is being recorded, they hang up and call back from another number beginning with area code 662. I didn't fall for it but felt I need to report this matter and don't want anyone to get scammed.

The recording said the call was from the social security administration because there was a legal action being taken against my social security number for ?tax fraud, and if I don't return the call my SSN will be frozen permanently.

Spoke to a Kevin Suvi with SSA badge ID SSA20753 and a Benjamin Alpert with SSA150075 and they said my I’d had been stolen and I was associated with a abandoned car in TX they ask about bank and 401k and had my birthday and last four of my SS number

- Abilene, TX, USA

Received call that my SS# was suspended due to suspicious activity. I hung up on them.

There is an automated system that claims they're a part of the social security administration. Then you are connected with a representative. The "representative" then asks whom they are speaking with but never gives a name as to who they are or who they are calling for.The call was about suspicious use of social security number and possible jail time if the call is not taken. I asked the man who he was and he first didn't want to mention his name. But then he came up with the name "David Morrison" a detective. I asked for an address, telephone number and department. Which he was not able to provide. Once he knew I was on to him he started threatening my life and claiming to cut my head off and making threats of violent sex acts.

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

I was called by a “social security administration agent.” He informed me that a car Rented with my American and SSN were found in TX with 22lbs of cocaine and thousands of dollars cash. He said I was under Investigation and he would put my arrest on hold if I complied with the EFSS (?) program. He then had me stay in the line with him while I went to several stores to buy gift cards in order to save the money in my account so that it wouldn’t be stolen. After I bought 15 gift cards he had me go home and turn my phone off so “they” couldn’t contact me and get more information.

- Lincoln, NE, USA

The call came from Nixa, MO and left a VM stating that I should disregard work and settle my matter immediately, concerning charges pending against me.

I called back for a good laugh. The person on the other line (indian accent) claimed that the call was coming from the Social Security Administration and needed to confirm my identity so they could help resolve my charges. Caller asked for Name, DOB, and SS#...... lol.

Gave them phony data and they claimed that they could see robbery, assault, and drug charges against me in Texas and that I was going to be turned into the FBI. Before they read the charges I was told to not interrupt and that I would get a chance to defend myself after the charges were listed. Oh, and also something about leaving my blood and saliva in an abandoned car full of cocaine. They really go all out.

Obviously just an identity theft scam, probably just trying to get peoples socials and confirm their info so they can later make calls trying to get your bank info as well.

They called me and said they were from the Social security administration. They then proceeded to ask for my name, age and last 4 of my social. They told me that someone was using my name and my social for illegal activity.

- Kirbyville, TX, USA

I received a phone call on 2/02/2021 warning me that my social security number had been compromised and was going to be blocked if I did not push 1 to talk to a representative. I hung up immediately.

- Conroe, TX, USA

I received a call from a Dallas phone number. The person identified their name as Calvin Hayes and gave me a case ID 1014 and his agent ID as KW4902. He indicated that a packet under my name was seized in Mexico where the packet had large amounts of cocaine and $50,000 of cash. They indicated the call was recorded and they traced the packet which was forwarded to the FBI and the DEA as I had laundered money and was attempting to conduct drug trafficking ( I am a professional healthcare executive and have never done what I was being accused of doing). The caller had a nigerian accent. The caller indicated that in the coming days, the IRS would freeze my accounts. I asked if I needed to call the police and get more information and they told me that if I called the police then I would be immediately arrested. I stated that I would prefer to escalate this call to the my local police department and then the caller hung up. I called this number back 972-426-2952 and the phone just rings and then it clicks and hangs up.

Was contacted by the above number and told that my ss number was suspended due to suspicious activity, then I was ask to verify my personal information which I did not comply.

- Indianapolis, IN, USA

The man said my social security number was being suspended due to fraudulent activity. I told him I would call social security and that they could go scam someone else
