Social Security Administration Reports & Reviews (950)

- Suffolk, VA, USA

I received a call stating that my social security number is having federal charges filed against it for drug trafficking, and money laundering. Ray Parker ID# DM19725, stated that on June 15, 2020, a 2016 Chevy Sedan (Silver in color) was found abandoned with 22-25 lbs of cocaine, registered to an address in my name, located at ** ****** ***** *** ******** ** 78240. He also stated that there are multiple bank accounts in my name at 20 different banks, and there are wire transfers totaling $135,000, made in my name. I was also placed on the phone with David Thomas, Badge #AD75179, claiming to be a deputy from the US Treasury Department. He told me that because I answered “no,” that I did not want the government to take control of my bank account to safeguard my money, that he was sending two FBI Agents and a local Sheriff to my house within the next two hours, to take all my identification and assets.

Automated voice message stating this is Social Security Administration calling because your Social Security Number has been used fraudulently and your account is suspended. Next instructions were to press 1 to speak to a representative. I hung up. Called number back 928-757-3469 which is a legitimate business in Kingman, AZ.

They call and claim they’re going to suspend the Social Security account for fraudulent activity. But they contact by telephone and no name comes up when the phone rings. We know that the Social Security administration does not make contact by phone for things such as this.

I received a text from Social security yesterday saying that my social security number had been suspended due to fraudulent activity in Texas and it was subject to lawsuit. Hi, I was contacted today by the "Social Security Administration Dept" who stated my ss # has been compromised and will be cancelled. I spoke to "Michael D Robinson", federal case ID *********, case ID ******. He stated someone had rented a car in Texas under my name and that the police recovered it with 22 lbs of cocaine. The case was turned over to Washington DC and that I need to go to Washington DC to get it fixed. He said my social would be suspended in 60-90 minutes and a sheriff would be at my house to arrest me.

I just received a scam message today at 2:42 P.M on my cell phone. It was a robocall. Warning. Your Social Security card is being suspended. I did not listen to the entire recording. I know it is a phony call. Social Security would not leave that message. The phone number in my caller ID was 805-464-0420. I'm sure it is a ghost number. The message had an urgency to it. I don't want other seniors to fall for it.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be with a social security administration. They knew all my information such as my full name, address, zip code and my social security number. I hung up before they could get anymore information from me due to me being at my moms funeral.

Recorded message stating that social security administration was filing fraud charges against my ssn and an hour later they phoned my wife with the same message. Told us to push ‘one’ to get further information after the recording. We both just hung up. When we tried to call the 398 number back, we were told it was no longer in service.

A lady called from a Dublin Ohio number saying that they suspended my s.s. # because fraud on it is suspected they asked for my name and I said don't you have all that if your calling me about my s.s.# they hung up I tried to call the number back it says its disconnected??

I received a fraudulent phone call from Social Security. I know it is a scam regarding my Social Security number. I did not answer the call. I called the Social Security office and reported the call. They told me it was a scam. The number that called was similar to my phone number. I do not have the exact number.

I keep getting calls from Social Security. Something about my Social Security number. I don't know what they are saying to me. They tell me I am going to be arrested. I pressed one to speak with a representative. I am connected with a representative. I asked why am I going to be arrested. They hung up on me. I can't talk to them. The two phone numbers in my caller ID were similar to mine. 440-319-4277 and 440-319-8083. I kind of knew it was a scam.

- Rhinelander, WI, USA

I am getting calls almost daily from different numbers claiming that my Social Security number has been used for fraudulent activity. I am familiar with the scam, so I have taken the calls and let the man who answers know that I know it is a scam and that I will turn them into the BBB. He gets upset calls me names and hangs up.

In the past, the man has threatened to suspend my social security, insists that I need to verify my "Social" number and has told me I will regret turning his number in.

I worry about our elderly who are not familiar with these criminals.

I am reporting a scam message that we received. They never left a message until recently. It came on our home phone. Our TV showed Spam Risk. Phone number in caller ID was 833-537-1827. Message stated regarding our Social Security number. Social Security number was inadvertently deleted. It was used in a false manner. Call back and confirm Social Security number. We did not call the number back.
