pre-recorded phone message demanding return call or risk suspension of my social security number over immediate legal matters. receiving phone message several times daily.

I will not call

- Gladwyne, PA, USA

The hackers called me multiple times in a week. When I eventually answered, I was suspicious. They had foreign (Indian) accents. The first individual identified himself as officer Robert Wilson. They informed me that I was the victim of likely identity theft. They stated that law enforcement had been monitoring the activity of some suspects in Texas. They stated that my SSN had been linked to suspicious activity. They stated that the US Marshalls were going to terminate my SSN, effective immediately, and provide a new one in the morning. They wanted me to review all of my bank accounts 'so that they could differentiate the suspicious activity from the actual activity.' I did not believe them. They sent me to a web-page (https://www.usa.gov/federal-agencies/social-security-advisory-board) SSA phone number and then called me from that number (202 475-7700). They would not allow me to call them back as they said that the recorded conversation needed to be immediately sent to the US Marshalls. They had a 'manager' Officer Neil Matthew speak to me. They started to pressure me to provide them information about my banks and then quickly hung up the phone.

They knew my name and address. Tried getting me to give them the rest of my information. Pretended to be from social security administration

A client from the Texas Panhandle Centers received a call from someone claiming to be the SS office claiming that they over paid her for two months and she was about to give them her SS# and bank info when a Texas Panhandle Centers employee intervened and she took the phone from her client and told them she was from the fraud department and they hung.

- Abilene, TX, USA

I received a telephone message stating that the Social Security Administration was contacting me about my Social Security.

They left message on our answering machine approximately 10:30am CST February 8, 2020. The first part of message is cut off, but this is what was left on the machine:

".... inform you regarding an issue we have with your social security number. We would like to speak with you and get some information, concerned. NOW, before we suspend your social security number and take legal action against you. Call us back as soon as possible. Again, this call is from Social Security Administration. A number to reach the department is 832-653-9811. I repeat it's 832-653-9811. Thank you."

Yes, the female robot recording voice said thank you, in attempt to get one of our social security numbers! They did not have details about which of the 4 adults living at this household that they were trying to scam. Of course, we are not calling them back.

Foreigner called saying someone stole my identity and was involved in money laundering. He said my social security number would be suspended and I would be arrested unless I pay money.

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA

I received a phone call on my cell phone with an address from Canada that my Social Security number had been compromised and I needed to dial the number 1 to talk with an official about the problem or a warrant would be issued for my arrest. It was a male voice and was a recorded message. After listening to the message, I hung up on the caller. This has happened to me before.

- Marshfield, MO, USA

Officer Mark Hammer keeps calling us and claiming that our Social Security will be denied unless we act. They have claimed they would send the police. This happens every day. Sometimes they leave a message, sometimes they don't.

- Phillipsburg, MO, USA

Claimed that my SSN had been frozen because of fraudulent activity. They gave me this number to call back and when I did, they wanted a bunch of personal information.

i received a call from 855-382-4017 with a recording that stated they were the Social Security Administration and had found my SS# to be placed on hold due to illegal activity. Ple[censored]d and press 1 to speak to an agent. My mother has received these types of calls as well. I hung up. She talked to an agent who told her they were trying to help her and her information had been found in a car on the border with quite a few other people's credit cards and she was going to jail if she did not give him access to her bank account right away, DL# and SS#.

The reason I know it was CreditRepair.com is because I called the number back and reached them.

Robo Call from 210-537-5719. Stating they've suspended my SSN due to suspicious activity. Press 1 for more details.

- Ellsinore, MO, USA

They told me that my number had been compromised. They had another number for me to call. In December I got 20 calls from different numbers about the same issue.

The scammer pretended to be calling from the social security admin office saying that I will be arrested for criminal activity. He knew my name and phone number.

My husband initially answered the phone when they called, they were claiming that his Social Security number is being frozen due to illegal activity. We had just gotten our checks yesterday so we knew something was off. They wanted us to call them at this number to discuss the situation. When I called, I got a guy with a foreign accent. I asked what it was about and he said, "listen to the recording". I told him I didn't and wanted to know what was going on and he hung up.

- Columbia, MO, USA

Got a call on my cell phone and was left a message from a robo-call. I assume they want me to believe that they are with the Social Security Office. It said, my Social Security Number had been frozen by an Officer Agent and that if I pressed 1 or called them at *** *** I could discuss it with the Officer Agent. It also said, "I see that you did not press 1. I am disappointed, please press 1 now." When I didn't press it (because it was a voicemail), it said, "I see you did not press 1. Have a blessed day."
