This website came up first on a Google search. Looked real so I filled out their online form for obtaining a US passport. They now have my Social Security number, address, phone number, and my credit card information. My credit card provider called to approve the card, so I did another google search and found they are a scam organization. So far I have only lost the $65, but I am worried what they will do with my personal information.

Google search to renew passport took me to site that looked like a legit government site asking for the info needed to renew a passport. Due to the way the link took me through the clicking of the pages, the fine print at the bottom of the first page (that I had to go back and google separately to find) says they aren't a legit site and don't actually renew your passport. The exorbitant fees are for filling out a free PDF, and not even correctly. Like others, I've reached out to the company for a refund and to my credit card company to dispute but I expect I'm just out the money at this point.

First google result from searching "passport renewal", asks for social security number and passport number and address, very fine print stating that it is not government website, but it dresses itself up as a government website.

Dear Better Business Bureau,

I am writing to report a concern regarding the website https://uspassportandvisa.org. I recently visited this site while searching for information on renewing or obtaining a U.S. passport. At first glance, the website appears to be an official government service, but upon closer inspection, it is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of State or any government agency.

My concern is that the site may be misleading consumers into paying unnecessary fees for services that are otherwise available directly through the official State Department website (https://travel.state.gov). The presentation of the site, along with its language and branding, could easily confuse users into thinking they are dealing with a government source.

I am requesting that the ScamPulse.com review this website for potential deceptive practices and take any appropriate action to protect consumers who may be unaware that they are using a third-party service.

Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.

Sincerely

Thought I was renewing passport on us government site, instead I gave them all my information and they sent me forms that are otherwise free.

Attempted to renew a passport online, this website represents official government agency to renew passport. Their assistance was to fill out free online form which is available on.gov website. Unable to reach to request a refund

Registered to get a passport and then the company would not respond

- Fairfax, VA, USA

The website shows up as the google search (sponsored) designed appearance of US gov't. It takes to link to fill out all the Personal Identifiable Information required for passport application as if they are a processing center. The site would fill the application (just as the US state dept website does) and charges $68.88. Hence, there is no service provided. Yet, they collect the personally identifiable information as if they are a part of the gov't process. This is apparent that they designed purposely to fool people needing to apply to US Department.

The site acts like a passport application site. It has you fill out all your information including social security and parents names, but only gives you a form with the info you input. It does nothing to apply for a passport! Probably sells your data too!

They are scamming people to get passports

- Brooklyn, NY, USA

I googled passport renewal, and https://uspassportandvisa.org was the first hit to come up. I clicked on it and filled out what I know now is a fake passport renewal form. They have my debit card information, passport number and social security number, as well as my name and address.

I was attempting to renew my passport and the first search result looked like a government website- uspassportandvisa.org

I filled out my name, birthdate, passport number, SSN, addresses, everything and was attempted to be charged at the end. My credit card company declined it and that's when I realized I may have been scammed and they now have such sensitive information, I don't know what to do.

This appears to be a fake passport and related services assistance website. It is not, do not use under any circumstance. Looks and feels like government site, but is not, with emails to support bounced back and no telephone contact.

Went to go renew my passport online. This was the first website that popped up on Google didn’t realize until my credit card denied the payment that this was not a government website looks and act exactly like a government website except for the .gov is missing.

Application required my Social Security number, name, address, phone number email parents, names, and passport book number

I thought this was a government website to pre-fill in my passport application form. After including all of the information required (name, address. SSN, etc.) the site asked me for credit card payment never explicitly stating that this was not for the fee for the passport. Only after paying was it listed that the passport fee to get the passport must be paid when I go in to get my passport.

I was applying for a passport on a website called“Uspassportandvisa.org” they were very convincing in how they had their website designed. It looked like I was on a government site. After giving them my social security number, my address and other personal identification information they asked that I submit a payment of $88 and a $20 insurance coverage. They make it seem like they’re submitting your info for you so you can receive your passport in the mail. My bank flagged the transaction when I tried to submit payment at which point I realized it was not a government site. I, fortunately, was able to permanently stop the transaction and cancel my credit card but am now concerned about possible identify theft. From what I learned about this site, they basically take your money, complete your application for you, and then you are required to mail it. Unnecessary steps for cost that are completely avoidable if you work directly with the government site. This site was extremely misleading.

I was applying for a passport on a website called“Uspassportandvisa.org” they were very convincing in how they had their website designed. It looked like I was on a government site and they also had the official DS-11 form to fill out as well. Upon filling out the document it asked for my social security number my address and then when you go to submit they asked for a fee of $85.53. They make it seem like they’re submitting your info for you so you can receive your passport in the mail, this is far from the truth. They instead take your money and refill a document for you with information you gave them, a document that is otherwise free that you have to refill out anyways when you actually try to get your passport, you will also still need to pay the full passport fee. This site literally just copy and pastes information you gave them into the government documents. Who knows what they do with your data, I fear they may compromise my information and sell it on a black market or try to perform other nefarious actions.

The website tried to appear to be an offical government website. They have you pay to fill out a free government form.

I was attempting to apply for my passport online, choosing the USAPassportandVisa.org website after a general online search because it was one of the first websites listed, it mimicked government official websites, and ended in .org address. The website collected highly sensitive personal information, including full legal name, parental information, contact information, and social security number. It requested a $64.88 payment, which I paid under the false impression that I was paying for the official passport application to be submitted. This was not the case as after payment, I received a downloadable "application packet" that indicated my next steps were to submit the actual application. It was at this time that I realized the deception of the website and the "service". My banking account immediately contacted me about a possible fraudulent transaction concern from the business name "easy-form-filler.com" and assisted me in initiating the process of refuting the purchase. My bank also confirmed the questionable nature of this business and indicated that there was no contact information listed on the website to reach customer service. I am now concerned about possible identity theft concerns from the delicate information shared through this process.

- Norton, MA, USA

I thought I was renewing my passport online, only to find out this is a scam site after I applied and called travel.state.gov.
