- Kernersville, NC, USA

This website models itself after government websites used to complete a passport application. It is a sponsored site on google. I had started my application on the legitimate government site, went to gather necessary materials, and the application had timed-out by the time I can back. When attempting to pull up the application again, I accidentally clicked on the deceptive link (uspassportandvisa.org) and started to fill out information. The website looked similar and I did not notice the difference at first, but became confused why the price at the end was different ($67 rather than $130 for an actual passport). I did not end up being charged but I am concerned about having entered sensitive information into this site. After searching for information about this site, I found out that many people did pay the fee for a misleading service that they do not have the authority to provide.

- Cumberland, RI, USA

The website looks legitimate. I used it to fill out forms needed to get a US passport. The fact that there was a fee for the forms should have been a red flag, but I proceeded anyway.

- New York, NY, USA

A site with small print, but presenting as an official government site. I gave my social security number, and i'm deeply concerned.

They site claims to expedite to be a portal of renewal for a passport, but in fact they simply fill out a pdf on my behalf and skim my personal information.

- Lithia, FL, USA

went to get application for passport and this site came up and it looked very legit. I have never had to apply for a passport so the whole process was new to me. I then became aware after I paid for the application that it was free on the legit department of state site.

- Chestnut Hill, MA, USA

This is a fraudulent website that takes personal information (social security number, passport numbers, names, addresses) and creates fake passport application documents. It is the first site that comes up in Google for a passport renewal and is easily mistaken as a legitimate site for passport support.

- Malden, MA, USA

This website came up on google search of "Renew US Passport".

I was fooled by the official look and tone of the website.

They were collecting all the information for passport renewal.

They asked for a great deal of information that I did not recall giving ten years ago, but I thought the process may have changed under Trump.

Info such as spouse date and place of birth, marriage date, parents names and birthdates.

They also asked for my ss number.

I only realized the scam when everything printed and showed that $130 fee still needed to be paid to the government.

I will try to cancel the payment tomorrow, but of course it is my personal data that I foolishly have given to god knows who.

- Nanuet, NY, USA

Deceptive site mimicking us passport site.

- Palm Bay, FL, USA

The site poses as a government entity for passport renewal. I provided personal information including my address, social security info, expired passport info, etc and basic info for my spouse and parents. In the end they charged $$67.88 and made it appear that this was the fee for processing the passport application, only to provide a pdf of my information to send to the government and notification that I would still have to pay $130 for the renewal. This site is extremely predatory and misleading.

Don't us this site USPassportandVisa.org

- Ridgewood, NY, USA

I wanted to renew my passport and google directed me to this website. They took my money and all of my information, including my SSN, residence, parents names and places of birth and dates of birth, everything. Then they sent me an email with the passport renewal form filled out and that's it.

- Waunakee, WI, USA

i Searched google for passport renewal and the top result was this website. The website seemed to mimic the government website and asked for details like SSN, parents names, wife name, address, and passport info. Once the process was complete, the phone number was given on the last page which seemed odd that it was a local-type number. I gave all my info. Now what?

- Washington, DC, USA

The site was posing as a site to renew your passport. I have not done it in 10 years, so I was unfamiliar with the process and it was one of the first sites to appear in a google search. I inputed all my personal data and paid for the fee, not realizing that this is all completely free on the actual government website. I was then provided with a form that had all my data and a USPS mailing label to send the application in. After I tried to look up information again online, I saw the ACTUAL government site and realized I had been charged for a "service" that I should not have been charged for. I literally put in all of my personal details, so I froze my credit and signed up for fraud alerts.

- Chantilly, VA, USA

I was trying to request a new passport and accidentally came upon this website thinking that it was legitimate. I filled out personal information and submitted payment for a service that I immediately realized was a scam.

- Glen Mills, PA, USA

This site looked like a legitimate processor for an online passport renewal. Sometimes the processing for some of these government sites takes you elsewhere that doesn't look like the government site. That is what I thought this was. It asked for a variety of personal information that would be used to renew a passport--including the passport number, expiration, my name, address, SSN and more. It even asked for my husband's name and other info. I used my credit card--only to find out that the fee was to process/fill in a PDF form --the passport renewal application that sits on the government site. Now they have all of my personal info. I called and they said they would refund the money and erase my personal info. I am usually pretty savvy about this stuff. But this one got me. I can only hope that my information has not been forever compromised!!

https://uspassportandvisa.org/

Used this website to renew passport and submitted personal information including SSN, address, occupation and credit card number.

- Patchogue, NY, USA

I used an online travel easy fill application for a passport replacement. And I never received following up information nor did I receive a status update on it. I found and researched the website I used was a scam.

- York, PA, USA

At a quick glance, it’s not obvious that this site is not the official .gov site. They take personal information (SSN, addresses, etc.) to fill out the official DS-82 forms and then charge $60+ (at least) to complete these forms. Who knows what they do with the information we provide? They also then have payment information (card numbers) once we pay for the copies of the forms.

- Salt Lake City, UT, USA

This site is posing as an official government website to fill out forms for Passport and Visa renewal. When going through the process, the fees appear to be the government fees for renewal, however this site is not actually affiliated with the government and your fee only gets you a form and a shipping label. You also have to submit all of your personal information to fill out the form including SSN and current passport number, so that is all in their hands now. I attempted to contact them once I realized the fee I paid wasn't to the government, via their instructions to reply directly to the service email, and I got a rejection from the server that the address doesn't exist. So frustrating, $88 down the drain.

- Cedar Rapids, IA, USA

This website came up first on a Google search. Looked real so I filled out their online form for obtaining a US passport. They now have my Social Security number, address, phone number, and my credit card information. My credit card provider called to approve the card, so I did another google search and found they are a scam organization. So far I have only lost the $65, but I am worried what they will do with my personal information.

- Raleigh, NC, USA

Google search to renew passport took me to site that looked like a legit government site asking for the info needed to renew a passport. Due to the way the link took me through the clicking of the pages, the fine print at the bottom of the first page (that I had to go back and google separately to find) says they aren't a legit site and don't actually renew your passport. The exorbitant fees are for filling out a free PDF, and not even correctly. Like others, I've reached out to the company for a refund and to my credit card company to dispute but I expect I'm just out the money at this point.
