- Kingwood, TX, USA

I received a voicemail saying that I needed to call them back before legal action is taken against me. I returned the call and they said that my social has been used to open up several bank accounts. Those accounts were used to wire transfer $250,000-300,000 and that money was used to buy 8 pounds of cocaine. They said if I didn't corporate with them they will turn the case into the local police department and I will get arrested and brought up on charges. I asked several questions about I know if this was real or not, because it was coming from a busy call center. You could hear other people talking in the background, and they said they would call me back from a SSA number. I also asked the guy his name and he said his name was Gary Cole. He wouldn't let me ask any questions and he kept talking and it sounded like he was reading off a script I looked at the SSA website and asked them what the number would be I would get a call from. They gave me the TTY number and we hung up and I never got a call. I called the SSA's actual number and they said they have had several reports of this happening.

- Baltimore, MD, USA

Automated message claiming to be Social Security Administration leaves phone message and number on voice mail to contact them. When you call, the person on other end of the line claims to be from SSA and asks for name and SS# to look up case. When you inquire how you can be sure it is the SSA, they tell you that if you hang up phone, they will have to send an agent out to serve a warrant for your arrest .

- Henrietta, TX, USA

I received a phone call from a number that I didn't recognize so I didn't answer it, like always. BUT, this time they left a voice message. So I listened to it and it said I had some fraudulent activity and needed to call this number-which she kept fading and I couldn't hear it so I just called back the number from the first call. The caller let me know who they were representing and claimed that I had had a lot of fraudulent activity on my Social Security number. She said that they would need to cancel it, but first needed to ask me some questions to make sure I was the person with whom it belong to (she knew my first and last name). So I said ok. She asked what my date of birth was. I said no, but let me ask you where you are calling from. She spoke some words in a language I am not familiar with and hung up. I called back the number and it went to voice mail and said no one could help me at this time, but to leave a message.

Receiving multiple robot calls several times per day since yesterday on cell phone. I block the calls (answered first one with hello but did not give any info, I hung up) have not answered any since. Block but I am then called back with a different extension number. The robo call starts out saying my ssn has been used fraudulently and my account closed, call them back. Although I block a message is left on my voice mail.

I received a voicemail stating that my SSN was going to be suspended due to criminal acts by the boarder of Mexico. He states that there was a rental under my SSN that was left by the boarder with drugs and blood inside the car and the FBI went to the address that the rental was registered to went to that address and no one was there. I wasn’t thinking and gave personal info and realized after that the FBI COPS or whoever would of came to my home and arrested me. Now I feel like I’m screwed and messed up my chance on actually getting me SSN in danger

- Gaithersburg, MD, USA

I got a call saying my SSA benefits and card was being suspended because of illegal use of it in Texas. When I called back, they answered as the Social Security Administration. They tried to get my social security number. I recognized this as a scam, but they had my complete name (including my middle name) and my phone number. When they asked for my SS number, I told them I never give my number over the phone, and if they were really the SS administration, they would already have the number and they could tell me what the number was. The women on the other end of the phone said they never do that. I told her I knew this was a scam and hund up.

Do not give any personal information as this number claims to be Social Security Administration. Trying to obtain your personal information.
