Received a call from a fake Social Security Administration. An authentic and identical looking toll-free number to the Social Security Administration showed up on my caller id, so thought it was the real thing. The caller said that they detected fraudulent activity on my account and suspended my social security number. They then proceeded to ask for credit card information, SSN and other sensitive data, which I refused to give them. I went to the local Social Security office and they told me that it was a scam. They had no record of suspension and fraud on my account.

This number called my cell phone number leaving a voicemail informing legal actions on my Social Security Number. I called the number from a landline and the person that answered had a strange accent and stated he was Officer Sam from the Social Security Administration. I told him I didn't believe he was who he says or that he's really calling from where he says he's calling from. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said ple[censored]d. The call ended after that.

Phone call from Social Security Administration New Port Richey, FL as it appeared across my iPhone screen. This is how I identify it in my iPhone contacts. I answered then there was a slight pause. An ominous automated voice said “Your Social Security account has been suspended due to suspicious illegal activity. Press 1 to speak to an agent.” I immediately hung up and looked at the phone number displayed in my Recent Calls. The number was presented exactly as I have the Social Security Office listing in my Contacts list. It included both the local New Port Richey, FL and the main phone number for the Social Security Administration. I called the New Port Richey Office but they were closed because it’s Black Friday. Then I called the Main SSA number but there was an hour wait on hold. I hung up. 4-1/2 hours later I received another call from the New Port Richey number. I did not answer. I blocked the caller, which unfortunately includes both of the SSA phone numbers I have listed in my Contacts.

I received an automated call claiming to be from the Social Security Administration on a Saturday morning. (First red flag: government agency calling on a Saturday? Right.) The call claimed my “Social” had been compromised by illegal activity and I needed to speak with someone immediately to protect my “Social” and my financial assets. (Red flag number two: the SSA would never refer to itself as your “Social.”)

At that point I hung up. I have better things to do on my Saturday morning than talk to scammers.

I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from the DEA, Homeland Security and Social Security Administration claiming that I needed to call them right away. I called and they asked me for the "time that I got my phone call". I told them the time then they asked for my name. I did not give any of my personal information. They would not tell me what they were calling about and I hung up. The gentleman had a foreign accent. I still have the recorded voicemail on my cell phone. Note my phone number area code is from california but i live in Ohio.

Received a call from who the caller described themselves as The Social Security Administration. It was a robotic sounding voice (recording) informing me that my social security was being suspended for suspicious and fraudulent activity. That I needed to call 917-246-4879. I received a phone call from a federal officer with badge number 11948 Ray Jones. He indicated that they made an arrest in El Paso Texas and documentation with my name on it was at the scene, therefore I will be charged with money laundering and drug trafficking. During this phone call I was passed to a Senior DEA Adam Garcia badge number 714326. He did an apparent criminal background check on me during our conversation and he stated I did not have anything on my record including no speeding tickets. Mr. Garcia wanted to know what accounts I had and assets. However, he did not ask for account numbers or any indicators to hack my accounts. The call ended and I called the local FBI office and was notified it was a scam. I have been receiving at least 40 phone calls a day from all over the United States. At least once a day, I am left with a voice mail stating I must present myself in front of a magistrate to clear up this illegal matter.
