They stated that this is the IRS and I need to call this number 413-853-2774 because i owed them money if not i was going to have an arrest warrant for me and I was going to be arrested. I know that the IRS doesn't contact you NOT by phone but by mail... It's sad what they do to the elderly.

- Lancaster, OH, USA

Got a phone call from this place claiming to be the IRS, left me a voicemail saying my name has been compromised and there was going to be legal action. So called them back and they were wanting personal information. I told the guy he should already know all the information and he hung up on me. IRS never calls, they will send letters. Please be aware

- Gulf Breeze, FL, USA

Automated voice stated my SSN was identified and that if I did not call back within 24 hours the local cops would come to get me.

A robocall, Claiming it was a final notice from the IRS, I hung up at that point.

Received a phone message saying I was being investigated and to call them immediately. I did return call which was answered by a voice with a foreign accent wanting my personal information. He said he was with the IRS and it was the FBI wanting information about me. I immediately told him the IRS doesn't operate that way and gave him no information, just hung up.

- Battle Ground, WA, USA

I knew it was a scam and hug up right when he said I owed back taxes

They left a voicemail stating I needed to call them back due to the IRS having a lawsuit against me. I called them back from work phone and got a foreign man I couldn't understand so I asked for an American but no Americans work there....lol now they will not answer calls it goes to ringing busy.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

I received a call (badly recorded) telling me that the IRS was seeking me. And if I didn't call the number they left, that there would be a warrant out for my arrest.

- Brigham City, UT, USA

Saying that I owe money to the IRS

- Brookings, SD, USA

Scammer left a message as I did not answer the phone. The message said a warrant for our arrest had been issued due to fraud and back taxes . They left a phone number to call, which is above, and it was the same number as the caller ID.

Scam involves a person calling from 202-602-2691 stating that I am entitled to IRS grant money of $8000.00. First I would have to go to Walmart and buy a prepaid debit card with $500.00 and call them back with the numbers on the back of the card. Reported scam to FTC and BBB.

- Muncie, IN, USA

They claim to be the irs wanting to discus the allegations against me but couldn’t tell me what they were without my information

- Brawley, CA, USA

This isn't the first time they called. We claim to be the IRS saying they have filed a lawsuit against me. They said I cheated on my text in your previous year yet I did not file for taxes that year.I know IRS doesn't contact you through phone only through mail. He said his name was victor. Beware of this A-hole.!!

Not sure what I can add other than the recording said this was an official IRS notification and they would take further action to collect all unpaid taxes due. ? I have not responded in any way to this questionable recorded message. Just wanted to inform you of this questionable phone call/scam.

- Kinston, NC, USA

These people are calling individuals saying they owe the IRS and if debt isn't paid in 24-48 hours the police will come take you into custody...

I know it's a scam because the IRS does not contact you over the phone....I am doing this to help others that don't know fall victim..

Thank You

- Carbondale, IL, USA

The man said if I do not pay them 6,000 now it would go up to 50,000 and I asked him what case number and he said I R and hung up.

A robot call message indicated that the IRS had four serious charges related to tax filings that needed to be responded to in order to avoid being taken into custody. A phone number to call was provided. Nobody in the household was named. No IRS agent or other person was named as a contact.

- Englewood, CO, USA

A voicemail message was eceived stating the following: "This is a notification regarding your tax filings from the headquarters which will expire in the next 24 working hours. After they are expired you will be taken under custody by the local cops as there are four serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment. We would request you get back to us so that we can discuss this case before taking any legal action against you. The number to reach us is 215-383-2352. I repeat 215-383-2353. Thank you."
