Geek Squad Imposter/Spoof Reports & Reviews (333)

I received the email below, billing me for $317.50 to renew my membership for 3 years of Geek Squad. Too much$$.

I called the listed number and asked to quit and issue me a credit. Then, the fun began...

Eric Evanas [alias?] couldn't refund my credit card, he wanted to deposit it directly to the bank. And he had to do it in 2 transactions so I wouldn't have to pay the tax. Using TeamView, they got me to my bank account and asked me to enter $300.00 for the 1st transaction. When I entered, the decimal point went away, making an erroneous deposit of $30,000 and the guy claimed that if I didn't pay it back, they'd freeze up my computer and steal all the data, including every photograph and financial statement in there.

The deal was for me to return $30,000 minus 317.50 or $29,682.50. The boss, who claimed to be George Anderson [obviously bogus], wanted me to make two transactions, wire $14899.00 to Thailand. I refused to do that. Then the scammer said he'd give me my data back for $5000. I totally refused.

All this back and forth was on text messaging, so I still have the conversation.

I called BofA and froze my account. I called the local police who took pictures of my computer and my cell phone. And I bought a NORD Pass utility to generate and store all passwords going forward.

Even though I think they were scammers, Evanas gave me a bunch of data I will share with you.

That's all the baloney I've got. The experience was very unsettling and the new passwords, an ongoing pain. BTW, I deleted TeamView from my hard drive and I'll go public to warn people against the dangers of giving people access to their data.

I have no idea what is being referred to here. So far, not money has been deducted from my checking account or my credit card.

Received email that $299.99 would be taken out of account on file on certain date for a Geek Squad Subscription that has expired. It was addressed to my sixteen year old son using my email. I have never had any subscription with Geek Squad and have not bought anything from them nor Best Buy in years and neither has my son. Did research and the physical address is Best Buy headquarters but the phone number is attached to phishing scam. Deleted email.

I received an email that looked legitimate with the Geek Squad logo , an invoice number , customer ID number and a Best Buy customer care contact number ( 850-203-4579). The email stated my one year subscription will be renewed in the sum of $389.99 to my debit card in the next 24 hours and if this is unauthorized or I wanted to cancel to contact them. I contacted my local Best buy and spoke with an agent who confirmed this email was not generated by them and it is a scam. I called the number and someone with a very heavy Indian accent answered, when I inquired about what type of establishment this was and to cancel any subscription as I did not authorize anything, he questioned what device I was using which lead me to believe they are trying to target devices for possible information or send malware. No information was given to this person except this will be reported.

Geek Squad sends an invoice that you must click on to see. They refuse to discuss unless you open their email. Second time they have sent me an invoice for a “subscription “ service I didn’t sign up for.

An email invoice for $450 was sent to me for a 5 year subscription for something I never signed up for from GK Update Geek Squad. They had my email, first name, street address, and part of my debit card number listed on the invoice. Their phone number was listed. I called them three times to resolve the issue and each time the same person hung up on me. They claimed I had signed up for a home tech virus protection last year and this was an auto renewal for 5 year protection. Their claim is not true. It’s a scam. I checked my bank account but their $450 charge hadn’t been made at the time I received their invoice. I talked to a banker and he said I should continue to monitor my account and make a claim if a false charge is made.

We received an email stating that our Geeks Squad Secure 360 Premium annual (3 Devices) Protection Pland is now renewed. With a Service contract number of GKS-15-2917816. Plan renewal date: April 15, 2022, for $349.99. We do not have a plan with this company and have never had a plan with a company based out of San Diego, CA.

Got an email from what seemed like the Geek Squad but with a named email address that claimed I was going to be charged 389.99 for a subscription renewal and called the number to find out what was going on because I have never signed up for said recurring payment and someone possibly from India answered the phone talking very fast and trying to get me to sign an electronic application to get a "refund" but I know it's just to get more info from you so don't do it!

I received an e-mail stating my computer security services were due and I had been charged $349.99 from the Geeks Squad for the annual subscription for Secure 360 Premium and if I had questions about this to call the support line at 1-805-725-5623. I blocked this and have gotten 2-3 similar e-mails in a year and each stating the same thing but from different e-mail addresses. I do know from past experience that if this number is called and you refuse to pay the money, the caller becomes increasingly angry and verbally threatening.

Just received this text from “Geek Squad” saying they charged to renew my subscription. I do not have a subscription and did not call the number. I googled it and it said it was a New York phone number.

Received text from “geek squad” stating they were charging me for renewing a subscription

We received two separate "invoices" from Geek Squad for Internet Security Plus, 3 year license auto renewed. Each invoice was for $286.43 and came via [email protected]

The invoices were sent thru a legitimate company (QuickBooks) and the business allegedly sending the invoices is legitimate. They even used the Geek Squad emblem.

I received an email from “Geek Squad” telling me that my windows firewall subscription had been renewed for $349.59 and with confirmation number given. There was a number listed 18059954237 to cancel subscription. When I called it and told the man named “James Morgan” told me to call back after I leave work and have access to my home computer to receive my refund. Then he asked what kind of browser I used. Luckily I did not give him any credit card information and when I looked at my bank account, no such charge had been taken out.

I received this email scam on my email where I work.

The transaction code is #587273.

I am sending a copy of the image of the email
