I got an email from the Geek Squad Best Buy. The email name is "Edgar Garcia", but email address was [email protected]. The "helpline number" was 888-428-0458. The notice says "we're pleased that you chose Geek Squad as your computer security provider. Due to the auto renewal date, your antivirus protection plan will expire today and you will be charged$399.99 as of today. It will be taken out instantly from your bank's checking account. The charges will appear on your statement the next 48 hours."

Email looked like it came from Geek Squad - it had their logo, but came from Linda Conway, Helpservices 25 February 2025, Custom zone 2.

It states "We're excited to inform you that your subscription has been renewed successfully for the upcoming term. Thank you for being a loyal member. A total of $488 has been securely billed to your account for the purchase subscription.

Billing Information: Invoice # xxxxxxxx (not added here), Transaction ID: xxxxxxxx (not added here), Renewal Date: 25 February 2025.

Order Details: It gives the Plan, Service, Duration, Payment Mode, Amount Charged and Status.

If you wish to cancel within the next 24 hours contact support for assistance.

It gives a phone number and I called it and spoke to someone with bad English; he insisted I had to cancel the subscription (the one I never had). I hung up on him.

I received an invoice by email stating that I had subscribed to Geek Squad for a 1 year subscription costing $476.00 which was paid through Geek Squad. The company evidently is a computer protection company which I had not heard of nor had subscribed to. They said I had a very limited time to contact them if I had any questions. The number for their customer support was not in service, but a voice said that google, I think would make a record of the call

received an email stating my subscription was renewing and to call the number to cancel. then they opened my computer to remove the program and when they started asking me to open my bank acct I asked him why he needed my bank info if it was on a credit card he would give up then I told him I didn't want a refund to just stop charging me and he still wanted me to open my back account link. I freaked and hung up and turned off my computer.
