The Email from Best Buy said a payment of 199.99 was going to be due in TotalTech department from the Intuit E Commerce Service.

The phone number 1-888-397-6038 was called the person said I could cancel the payment I didn't request and have the money moved to a bank account. While faking the transfer of $60.00 an extra amount of $6000.00 was looked to have been inserted into the bank account. It appeared to be in my account .so I mistakenly went to my bank took out the $6000.00 and got the instruction by the person to send it to him I made that awful mistake at a Bitcoin ATM. I was later told buy the Best Buy that they were used like this and it was a scam .

I received an invoice via email yesterday that charged $349.99 for "Geek security services". I did not order this service. The invoice stated that I have 24 hours to cancel the subscription. The number provided yesterday was 888.973.6992. I called. They wanted me to download an ap "anydesk.com" in order to cancel the subscription. I said I would not. The first person said he would charge me. I called again - same thing except that when I said I would not download anything he hung up. Today I received another invoice but this one used the customer service number 229.354.9997 to cancel the subscription.

Scammer called and called me over and over. Trying to get me to pay for Geek Squad services I did not do. Had me take cash out of my account and take it to a bitcoin coinbase machine and wanted me to deposit it in to his coinbase account. Thank God my phone died and my bank intervened.

email from Geek Squad saying they were renewing my membership for a certain amount of money by a particular date. Told to call if I wanted to cancel. Indian/Pakistani

I talked to a man (don't have his name)l about canceling my account (I talked to other people at Geek) on several occasions after receiving an e-mail saying I bought something that I did not order.) I asked how can I get my account off your books, and he said I had to sign on to their cancelation form, I told him I am not signing on to my computer while they were on the phone. He hung up on me, so I called him back and told him that wasn't very professional like. I would appreciate anything you can do to stop these e-mails. They all seem to have the same story. Thanks

The scammer sent me an email entitled "Recent Renewal Subscription Reminder #56489GYT@". The only text in the email was "Dear user" and then there was an attachment with an invoice dated today (4/13/2023). It provides an order number and contact number. The invoice states:

"Dear user,

Thank you for being our valued customer

Your Geeksquad Subscription has been renewed automatically."

It then provides a tracking number, the order date, and a chart with the order information (Product: Geek-Squad Premium; Total $419.00). It then states:

"Our community of customer care and product experts are ready to answer all your questions.

If you believe there is any mistake in this invoice please call our customer support team.

I went online and got my local Best Buy/Geek Squad number, and called and spoke with a Geek Squad representative. The representative confirmed I had cancelled my subscription a few months ago and it had not been renewed or reactivated. He also confirmed the email address that sent me the email was not one of theirs and that it is spam.

- Nashville, AR, USA

It was an email thanking me for my order and said I will be billed on the card attached to my file. I never ordered anything from geeksquad.. it only addressed me by my email not my name.

- Turlock, CA, USA

I received an email with a fake invoice for geek squad service. I have heard about this scam in the news before so I recognized it immediately. I did not respond so I didn't lose any money or expose any personal information.

Tried charging me to renew a subscription

The scammer contacted my father, telling him that he was due a refund from the Geek Squad and that the scammer needed bank account and routing information to transfer the refund to my father’s bank account. Thankfully a member of the bank’s staff called my husband to tell him that my father had called the bank to ask how he could arrange to have funds transferred into his account. The banker called my husband because he thought this sounded phishy. We went to my parents’ house to find my father on the phone with this criminal. When the man refused to send a check for the “refund” and said it could only be transferred electronically, I said we were not interested. He said he was with the Geek Squad, a member of the BBB. We ended the call. In the meantime, my father’s computer had been taken over with malware and the refund was no longer being offered, but now the phone number of 714-886-6624 was on the screen with a message telling my father to call that number immediately or he would be paying these people money for the rest of his life.

I was emailed by "Geek Squad" and informed that I would have $389.99 taken out of my bank account as part of a subscription. I was then told to call a number if I felt this was incorrect. I didn't call the number because this was an obvious scam -- the email was someone's personal email, there was a list of other recipients, and the "invoice" was just an image.

- Littleton, CO, USA

I got an email from Geek Squad saying that my subscription was paid in the amount of $399. from my account. There was a phone number to call and I had a hard time understanding him due to a foreign accent and boisterous voice.. He asked if I had a computer. I told him that I never had or applied for an account. Then he gave me a website to enter. I felt nervous, but he said it was the only way I could cancel it and get my refund. A form came up on the screen and had questions to answer. "My phone number ,address, email address, and date of birth etc. At that point I refused to give any more information. He got very arrogant and told me again that that was the only way I could cancel and get my refund. This was the second time that I got the same email and same person. I am very upset and feel helpless.

This email was sent to me: "Please find attached your invoice for the order. The order has been reviewed and the slip of invoice has been attached below as per the details scheduled. If you have any questions regarding the order you may directly reach onto us for the resolution" I had no account with them so obviously it could not possibly be renewed. I did not download the "details" but called the indicated number. Someone named "John Walter" (with a heavy accent) answered and I rained down on the person answering.

I hope I have escaped their net.

I received a text that i renewed a subscription with geek squad to cancel call this number 1-804-529-3053. when i called a lady answered and said she could help and said she would send me

to billing and she did from that point the person from billing said he was the manager and could help. He then said to open computer so he could send a form and he did. The form asked for name and E mail. he then said to check bank to see if money went through after i opened it it didn't show right away then it showed that a mistake was made instead of a refund for $498.00 it showed a refund of $4,600.00 he then said a mistake had been made and we need to solve it now. He then said to solve it i would have to go get 3 visa cards at 500 each . we argued about it for a while and i said this didn't sound right and that i would contact bank on Monday He said no it hade to be done today and go get the cards after a brief argument i then told him i was a member of Life Lock and i was going to call them and have them sort it out he then hung up.

I got an email saying that my subscription to Geek Squad had been renewed and that I had been charged x amount of money. A number was listed for me to call and cancel. When I called they told me I needed to type in a code to a website which would create a certificate showing that my subscription was canceled. In reality the code I typed in gave them access to my computer. An application began downloading and the certification that popped up was asking for my bank information. When I asked why they wanted the information, they said to refund my money. I’m actuality I had changed my bank card so I knew that wasn’t true but I wanted to make sure and cancel the subscription anyway. That is when I noticed the mouse of the computer moving. I immediately turned my computer off. When I turned it back on several minutes later, a screen popped up saying not to turn my computer off because software was being updated. I noticed the mouse moving again so I left the computer off for a few days. I also unplugged the computer entirely. I tried to get help from a relative to see if anything on the computer looked suspicious. They couldn’t find anything and advised me to update my antivirus protection. When the computer was updating the mouse was still moving. I unplugged the computer for a few more days. When I turned it on again I immediately updated my antivirus software. Since then, I haven’t noticed any suspicious activity. I did get an email from Macafee and they told me that my personal information was found on the dark web. The company posing as the Geek Squad are scammers.

The email contained a phone number - 845-481-1776, which I foolishly called with the intention of letting them know that that they had reached out to the wrong, JoAnn Marshall. i ended up falling for their scam to refund the money, all the way to the point where I gave them access to my computer, which has my and my husband's personal information. They were moving my cursor and turning my screen black and then back on, etc. My husband realized what they were doing and shut off our router but I am afraid they retrieved personal information, passwords, etc.

I was sent an email stating that my membership will automatically renew for geek squad. I never had a membership and when I informed him of that he said I must have had a free trial and needed to cancel. Customer support talked me into getting into my bank account with him and attempted to get me to send him 417$ through Zelle. He started cursing when I told him I wouldn’t do it. He said the money would be refunded back to me the next day. I refused and called my bank closing all accounts. They called back 5 times while I was on the phone with the bank.
