I keep receiving phone calls saying that my Amazon account has charges on it for either iPhones or other electronics that are high dollar. The number that shows up on my cell is either a 800 number, an unknown number, or an individuals number with area code and name listed.

The guy used The name Mark Nelson. He called me from 4 different phone numbers. Wanted me to purchase gift cards for $500, then he wanted me to deduct $1500 from my checking account which did show that Amazon was putting the money in my account. He’d send me to different stores. He said he’s trying to secure my devices from hackers. That just seemed weird to me.

On June 17, 2021 at 10:40am I received a phone call from number (786)218-6857 My Caller ID displayed the name Farina Ninfa. When I said “Hello” a recorded message said it was a call from Amazon regarding my account. That my account with Amazon was being used by a fraudulent source located in Ohio, for trying to purchase a gift card for $700. Then it said to speak to an Amazon customer service representative, Press 1. I did not press 1 however, and I ended the call. This is not the first time I’ve received this scam Amazon call playing the same exact message, but the amount being charged to my account was a different amount the other time. Curiosity got the better of me last time it called and I did press 1. Seconds later a person with a very heavy foreign accent got on the line and preceded to impersonate an Amazon employee. He knew my name already without me having to provide it, and he was trying to convince me to get on my desktop computer to get on a “secure” website address by following his directions so he could talk to me to walk me through how to stop this purchase from being made on my account. That the secure web address allowed him to be able to view everything on my computer screen at the same time as I did and we would fix it together because he was the professional Amazon customer service representative and received special training for this specific situation. ?? I ended the call immediately and wrote down his information but did not report it at the time because then we were hit by Winter Storm Uri and lost all power. :(

This is truly a devastating scam because people who are not computer savvy have no idea how dangerous this is and the people calling from “Amazon” sound very convincing. As well as when you go to search engines like Google, and search for, “Amazon Customer Service Number” the results that it provides are also fake scam websites, and click bait ads that bring you to false information and fake numbers for Amazon. And THAT is really really scary! I really hope that this organization can be brought down and criminal charges for all the mayhem, chaos, and devastating financial stealing they are doing in the name of Amazon. I can only imagine how many people a day they trick into believing they are really helping them prevent an unauthorized purchase when in actuality they are stealing all their information. This is very sickening, and heartbreaking.. I truly hope justice prevails!

Was contacted by text stating that my Amazon account had been hacked. Asked that we go to a local business and purchase gift cards and they would credit our account. These were in order to stop the hack in process.

It said my Amazon account has been locked because the billing information I provided does not match does not match the information on file with the credit issuer. If asks me to verify the billing name, address and phone number stored on my credit card. It states if I don't complete the process within 3 days, all my pending orders will be canceled.

I receive a call from Amazon (Allegedly) stating that I had a charge on my account for $1.200.00 (approx & not sure of the item) and he wanted to verify that I had ordered the item. I told him that I had not ordered anything from Amazon in some time. I sign on to Amazon and determine that there was no order pending. He told me that 'it was because he had blocked it. That's when I told him I would contact Amazon to determine what the problem was. he repeatedly told me he could take care of it and all I had to do was change my password and all would be fine. That's when I hung up. He called back 3 more times The first was from Quest Systems and the last 3 were from Homestead, Fl. I talk with Amazon and she told me that there were no charges since May, which was correct.

They call an individual stating they’re from Amazon and that somebody has hacked your account for over $1000. They are trying to have you set up an anti-theft deterrent on your computer and gain your information. Don’t do it!!! I contacted the official Amazon and was reassured they would not call like that my account was fine.

Will receive the call and auto-recording says a fraud charge coming from ** in the amount of over $700 is being used for Amazon acct to call them back or press one to speak to a representative. I called Amazon to confirm and they said it is a fishing scam. Not to give ANY info. I am getting back-to-back called all day from a new number because I keep blocking numbers.

Was called by a person claiming to be an Amazon representative by the name of Victoria Blair with an ID #LM6594. In reference to an order totaling 1,500 dollars for a computer and iPod that I did not order. It would have been delivered to New York. Once I told her I didn't place an order and knew of nobody in New York, she Said she would stop shipment. She asked did I live with anyone and did someone else place the order from the household. She asked did I drive. She then told me not to use my phone and cell phone because they might be listening to the phone conversation since they had all my information. She then said she would call next morning. She did not so I called Amazon only to find out she didn't work there. Amazon stated they would NEVER call customers regarding shipments. I received 5 calls from different local numbers with actual business names from the scammer. These business names were M.R. Williams and General parts Inc. She called back and wanted to discuss what we talked about the previous evening. I told her I would not discuss anything further until she gave me a number to contact her and verify that she was who she was claiming to be. she stated she would not be asking me for any card numbers. To which I said, I would not provide it anyhow. She said hold on and let me get my manager and she never returned.

caller said he was from Amazon security, and was notifying me of a $60 fraudulent charge on my amazon account. He told me to check my amazon account, and in fact a fraudulent charge appeared. He gained access to my computer, told me there were 157 hackers attempting to get in to it, and to help him secure my computer, I was told to go to Kroger and buy a Target gift card for $500. He said within 5 minutes there would be a $500 refund on the credit card I used to buy the gift card. Unfortunately, I did as I was told. He told me to scratch off the card number, take a photo, and text it to him. I did. He said the number of hackers had been reduced through this process, but many were remaining. He said to buy 4 more Target gift cards at $500 each, and do the same thing. Scratch off the security codes, take a pic of all 4, and text him the photo. I did. Now more hackers had been stopped, but some remained. He told me to buy 6 more gift cards. I said NO, I'm done. I disconnected him and called my credit card, told them I believed Iwas being scammed. They placed a hold on my account, and removed the $500, and the $2000 charges. However, those charges have since been re-posted to my credit card, because in fact I purchased the gift cards. Because I personally purchased them, regardless of who told me to do so, I am liable, and must pay. Expensive lesson.

Got a call claiming to me Amazon, that there is a purchase on my account for $1200 for iPhone, and my account is locked due to fraudulent activity, press 1 to connect or 2 to report. Pressing 1 gave me the same message, pressing 2, it rang through to a person, they could not hear me and hung up.

- Columbus, OH, USA

I got a robo call indicating I had made a $1000 purchase from Amazon. It said to call 610-273-4271 for more information. I called back, and spoke to a foreign man, who said my "number" had come up. He didn't sound professional so I hung up. I don't have an Amazon account.

Left a message stating they were from Amazon and that there is an outstanding bill with them . Wanted a return call back asap.
