VIN History USA Reports & Reviews (158)

So same issues as most others. I have been trying since June to cancel the reoccurring chages, and I have had no luck. I did try the automated phone first, giving the last 6 digits of my debit card. This was in early June, around the first week. In July, another charge. This time I gave them my email address. I did not get an email confirming the cancellation, which I guess I should have been more diligent. So here we are in August, I did call again and give my email address. No follow up email, so this time I did follow up with the online chat. I did get a response from Michelle O, asking "what is the name of the company that charged you?" Seriously? I guess we are playing that game now. In the meantime, I did get my card temporarily suspended and filed a complaint with the bank. I am guessing that I probably won't get the refund ( I asked for a refund from June to August since I have been trying since then to cancel), but I am hoping to get the charged canceled.

Site DOES NOT CLEARLY DISCLOSE OR REQUIRE A EXPLICIT OPT-IN to a recurring monthly charge ($18.95).

The site is structured in a way that HIDES THIS INFORMATION and the “purchase report” button and surrounding area DOES NOT indicate that an additional subscription will be started. There is also no mandatory OPT-IN checkbox or other indicator.

Further more, I was NOT SENT INFORMATION on being enrolled in recurring payments and the I found out of the unwanted enrollment from a banking alert.

I’ve cancelled my subscription-I-did-not-want and should get a refund, hopefully, as I caught it in time. If not, I will dispute the recurring transaction - that - and block all payments via my bank.

Ok, everyone $1 seems so easy and simply until you have to deal with the reoccurring issues, I am 60 years old and knew better carfax $40 and a complete legit report and your done! Not going dealing with these $1 dollar bait companies over and over they do not go away they keep hitting your checking accounts, for me it is the $1 and the $18.95 over and over it is like s bad night mare.

I wanted to find all the options my vehicle had by searching the VIN so I could list it in the for sale add. I used Google to find a website that provides such info and vinhistoryusa.com was on the top of the list. It is listed as free in the Google search, however when you enter your Vin it requires a payment and says it's $1. However they charge you $18.95.

Same happened to me...ugh...called my bank to reverse and block- Charge for $1 and $18.95-total scam! Think about how many might not catch it-

This company keeps withdrawing from my account months after I requested a refund and cancelled their services.

They claim to charge $1.00 for their service to get vehicle history reports using vin numbers. They do not render service and then proceed to charge you $18.95 on top of the dollar. It is charged through other company names that are not them. If you try to talk with them, they shut you down unless you threaten to report them. They steal credit card info and charge the card through bogus companies.

This website is a complete scam! I checked my credit card and noticed this random charge on my account for $18.95. I used the website for a vin look up. There is no phone # or address of the company to even contact to dispute the charge! I contacted my credit card company immediately! I dont even know where Shayla comes from as that is not the name of the company that I used originally. Word of advice, just pay the money and get a Carfax!

They tell you it will cost $1.00, you utilize the information they offer which tells you NOTHING about the vehicle. They then charge you $18.95 for a monthly fee on top of the $1.00 and NEVER DISCLOSE ANYTHING ABOUT $18.95!! That was 3 months ago and I cancelled EVERYTHING with them and tonight I find that stupid $1.00 charge again. I am so mad I had to cancel my credit card.

Okay so I was looking for a free or cheap Vin lookup website and stumbled upon this one it said specifically that the product I was receiving was a vehicle report for the low price of $1. Now due to the fact that I have been looking around I knew that seemed a bit fishy but I decided you know what I'm going to screenshot this before I click enter just in case this company is fraudulent. Well what do you know as soon as I clicked inter I get a notification from PayPal saying that I just paid 18.95 to this vinhistoryusa.com. I immediately click on their chat button and told him what the heck it said this was going to be a dollar and I was just charged 1895 they say they're going to refund me however it will take 3 to 5 business days to me that is absolutely insane especially due to our economy as it is right now I mean this was a very clear and blatant attempt to steal money from me and from anybody else who falls for this trap. now I know how this thing goes sometimes it'll say like oh pay a dollar now for a trial and at the end be charged 1895 a month for a subscription however that is not what this was it clearly stated this was $1 for the report never even spoke of a subscription plan so I am putting this out there number one because I better get my money back sooner than later and it better not take 5 days because I need it right now but also because this company should be shut down these people should be arrested they are stealing from people and I just got done reading one of those other two complaints about this company and saw that they wrote back saying that oh shows that you're signing up for a subscription but I'm here to tell you and I'm here to show you with my screenshot that no it doesn't say anything about subscription! I'm also going to send a screenshot of the conversation I had with the chat agent which by the way I'm stunned I was even able to speak with somebody especially cuz it's in the middle of the night but I digress this is absolutely outrageous and they need to be stopped and find I really needed that money right now I was doing a VIN check because I'm going to sell my car because I have no freaking money so for them to just steal it's absurd and wrong please shut them down!

Check you bank/credit card statements if you've ever used this company. I had the same issue as everyone else in this complaint. They say $1 and then charge your $18 and tell you you have a monthly subscription. Two months later I was charged $1 by Shayla Vin Service - Tempe AZ when I have not used or ever asked for their services after my run in with them in June. That was illegal use of my card so now I'm going to have to get a new one so I don't go through this again.

A total scam! I checked my card after reading these complaints and they did charge me $18.95 the same day and time they took out $1.00. I called and Jasmine, very rude and very hard to understand talked over me THE WHOLE TIME and tried to be aggressive until I mentioned contacting my Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, the FTC along with my Senator's. All of a sudden the tone changed and Jasmine stated my refund of $18.95 would be credited to my card and the monthly $18.95 membership would be cancelled. A TOTAL SCAM!

THIS IS A SCAM. it is a phishing site and they do not return funds per the phony refund policy. just file a claim of fraud with your bank and the ATTORNEY GENERAL AND FTC.

ALSO THE CRAZY UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE CHAT AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE SCREENSHOT LOG TELL YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS FAKE SCAMMER SITE. THEY ACTUALLY TRIED TO TELL ME I WAS CHARGED $1 WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT MY BANK SHOWING THE LIE AND 2 CHARGES OR $18.95 AND $1 WHICH THEY WILL TRY TO CONTINUE CHARGING YOU.

THE COMBATIVE RUDE REP LITERALLY SAID " THE FACT THAT YOU ARE SO BROKE THAT YOU'RE IRATE OVER A DOLLAR THAT HAS BEEN STATED WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU IS HONESTLY RIDICULOUS...THE GOVERNMENT IOS GIVING OUT MONEY FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND APPLY, CLEARLY YOU NEED IT.

NO MORE NEED TO BE SAID. MAKE THE EASY CLEAR JUDGEMENT AFTER THAT STATEMENT! VINHISTORYUSA.COM IS A FAKE FRAUD PHISHING SITE. BEWARE!

I got scammed, and feel awful. I got a text message saying that they will refund me in 24-72 hrs, ha! good luck with that. I called my CC company and got a new card re issued. My CC company said that I had to wait 15 days before I can file a dispute. I have marked my calendar exactly to the hour I made that bad purchase .

Same as the above: paid $1 and then $18,95. Now, a month later they charged another $18,95. Called bank. They are stopping payment. Contacted AZ Attorney General's Office
After the first occurrence. They wrote back 5-21 , saing the would contact Shaylas Vin Service aka VinserviceUSA.com. today is 6-13, and I have not heard back.

Was told it would only cost a dollar $1, so I figured why not give it a shot before paying the $40 for the Carfax report. Not only was the car history report completely useless, but they charged me $18.95 in addition to the $1. Absolutely no where in the check out process did it mention anything about an additional $18.95 charge. Very obviously a scam that tries to skim off people that don't check their credit card/bank statements. This site needs to be removed from Google and all other search engines.

I gave them a shot, as most said they charge you $1 that they are upfront about, and then charge you for their monthly plan of $18.95 without it being as plain as the $1. On top of that the reports are horrible. I was only curious about 2 vehicles I own, 92 and 90 Broncos, and discovered on the second lookup for the 90 that the bottom section shows the exact same as the 92. The issue with that is that when I looked up on NICB.org, I discovered the 90 has a salvage record, but no mention of it on vinhistoryusa.com's report.

I also returned to the report page through my history, and the bottom shows the exact same information as both reports (or rather lack of information) with the basic info that any VIN decoder would give you blanked out.

So essentially you are dealing with "purchasing" a free VIN decoder under the guise of a VIN history report.

How do the reports look? Would you mind sharing one?

Since I just noticed someone is asking several users how they came across the website, I came across it searching through Google for VIN history sites and had put in the VIN for a few sites, and this one simply stated the $1 for the report while the others were pricier (but most likely actually worth it) and I was just doing something to satisfy my curiousity.
