VIN History USA Reports & Reviews (159)

I went online to check and see if my vehicle had any recalls on it. When I asked Google it came up with an image from Carmax and below it was safercar.gov that showed the specifics of any recalls. So, I went to safercar.gov and was redirected to the vinhistoryusa.com site. The site says that it will charge you $1 to get a report on your car's VIN number. There is an *option to pay a membership every 2 weeks of $29.95. However, when you are putting in your card info & checking out, it says it's $1. But they charged (and caused my account to be overdrawn) $1 and also $29.95. When I emailed them to ask why I was charged the $29.95, they said that the web page did state that. And when I asked for a refund of the $29.95 they refused but said that they cancelled any other future "membership" charges. I told them that was a scam and is very misleading. Obviously, I wouldn't have willingly given my card info thinking I would be charged $29.95 instead of the $1 that it says just for a report regarding recalls. Which is all I thought I was requesting. And to be denied a refund is completely ridiculous and unreasonable.

When trying to cancel, the phone number is not valid. Do not purchase this!!

I paid for a report with this company, I received the report which was noted to be $1. I continued to receive charges monthly from this company utilising different bank names.

I would like to report this is a SCAM.

I used a website to try to track the history of a vehicle I have. The site said the report was ready and to access it I had to pay $1, and then their membership of $29.95 would be charged every two weeks afterwards. So I paid the $1 and then I got an email saying they were not able to obtain the report. I checked my bank and they had charged me the $1 for the report they couldn't provide. They also charged me the $29.95 that their site said would not be charged until 2 weeks from now

The that is taking a $1 then the $29.I think says Maimi Florida.

Same thing is happening to me 😡. I'm not sure how to resolve or cancel the stupid scription 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I did a car VIN number check with https://vinhistoryusa.com/ and they charged me $1, my credit card text me there was a fraud alert charge of $29.95, I told the credit card company I did not approve the $29.95, only approved the $1 for VIN check, I called https://vinhistoryusa.com/ at 202-751-4073 nobody would answer the phone, and they automatically hung up on me.

I authorized $1 to purchase 1 report on a vin #. I was charged $29.95 by TrackThatReport8, $8.95 by FindTheirReport8 and $1 by ReportsPros. My bank cancelled the charges and my debit card. I called 202-751-4073 and was told all those belonged to Vin History USA & he offered to cancel the re-Occuring monthly $29.95 charge that I did NOT make. Scammers.

- Burlington, KY, USA

The website said that you can get a vehicle VIN history report for $1.00. It then charges you $29.95 for a 2 week subscription without any notification of the change in cost.

Was doing a VIN look up on a vehicle my daughter was thinking of buying and did not want to pay the outrageous price that CarFax charges to look up one vehicle. so I put in the VIN I was searching, then it processed for a few minutes. When it done doing it's thing, a window popped up saying the the report was ready. I clicked on the report and another screen popped up saying there was a $1.00 dollar processing fee. I entered my debit card info and I was able to get to the blank report. My card was charged two $1.00 transactions. One was from Budget Vehicle Repo Fl Miami, one was from Test Results 251 KY 251-280-1885. A few days later I was charged $4.95 from Test Results 251 KY 251-280-1885. Then on 3/23/2023, I received a call from fraud alert from my Credit Union, saying there was an attempt to charge my debit card $29.95. I had my card permanently blocked and called my Credit Union order me a new card, which by the way is very inconvenient.

I searched a vin number on this site and it said it returned a match. I was looking at buying a used bus on an auction site and this site said it was only $1 for your first vin report. I submitted payment and in no case did it show there would be a recurring fee of $29.95 every 2 weeks. It also came up AFTER I paid and it had already said it found the vin I searched- that said vin was invalid. I tried to cancel and their website requires you to call a phone number that hangs up on you or email them. I am disputing all charges with my bank.

Very similar situation here as other reviewer. Firstly I was lied by their $1 report and this is how they charged me for 3/2 service:
3/2 Trackthevin $1
3/2 Trackthevin $29.95
3/2 Budget Vehicle Reports $1
3/5 Budget Vehicle Reports $4.95
3/17 Findtheirreport $1

What's up with all these different merchant names and these random dates of charges EVEN AFTER THE CANCELLATION OF THE SERVICE was done immediately in 3/2?

TOTAL SCAM! STAY AWAY! AND REPORT!

vinhistoryusa.com uses this company to bill your payment card used on their site. They give the company your info and this company debited my bank 3 days later after using the website. Requested refund through vinhistoryusa.com chat line whom stated they would expidiate request.

- Williamsburg, WV, USA

This company obtained my payment info from vin history USA.com after I tried to purchase a vin car report. I did not authorize a charge of 4.95 for any service from them or from vinhistoryusa.com. This charge showed up 4 days after using the website.

Advertises free vin # look up. Then they inform you that there is a $ 1 processing fee. After you give payment info and submit. It charges you 29.95. And the report contained no information. Asked for refund. Two days later more unauthorized charges of $1 and $4.95. They process charges under different businesses names Budget vehicle repo Miami Florida ,Budget vehicle reports FL and Track that Report Ky

Paid for car record search with credit card, didn't get report. Tried to contact them - no response.

- Cheraw, SC, USA

Openly advertised and claimed a $1 fee for checking a VIN. Immediately charged $30. Didn't say it was going to do that anywhere. Also the info on the VIN report was incorrect as well.

- Great Falls, MT, USA

Used VinHistoryUSA to purchase report on a VIN for a used vehicle and had an authorized charge of $1.00. Credit card was charged $1.00 with transaction description of "TrackTheVin (202) 751-4073". The same day, I was charged an unauthorized fee of $29.95 with transaction description "TestResults 251-280-1885". Two days later was again charged unauthorized charge of $4.95 from "TestResults 251-280-1885". A web search found multiple other victims experiencing the same scam. It seems that these companies are registered under Jammin Enterprises, LLC in Kentucky, and the agent/manager/director name on file has been previously charged in court for fraud.

As many others, I googled free vin report &this one came up saying “absolutely free!” So I put in my info then it says only $1 & notes “companies that say they are free may give you bad info & companies that charge you $40 are taking advantage” then it throws up a little ticking countdown clock to further pressure u. I made sure I reread everything and all the fine print. I do see it says there’s a 29.95 membership every 2 weeks but it says “order summary: initial report $1 so I assume the 29$ is billed after the 2 weeks but I also don’t see that it says that I’m signing up with a membership so idk if that’s just another option that I didn’t choose or what…. But it says summary total $1. Wrong $30 billed immediately. Ok I chalk that up to my stupidity. But then I still have no access to the website as I was supposed to for this $29 fee so what is the fee actually for?
I immediately follow the online directions to cancel and apply for a refund easy process but neither worked. The lady told me my account would be canceled after 3 days. 3 days later I got another 4.95 charge. I started googling vinhistoryusa.com scam & see from other peoples stories it can get a whole lot worse so I’ve had to contact my bank now to freeze my card

Exact same happened to me. I immediately closed my card and ordered a new one and filed a dispute with my bank

- Batavia, NY, USA

They say they charge $1 for a vehicles vin history and after they charged me $1 they tried two times to take $29.95 from me for a service I never signed up for. Then they charged my $5 when they my bank labeled the $60 they were trying to take out as fraud.
