VIN History USA Reports & Reviews (144)

- Bitely, MI, USA

Paid for car record search with credit card, didn't get report. Tried to contact them - no response.

- Cheraw, SC, USA

Openly advertised and claimed a $1 fee for checking a VIN. Immediately charged $30. Didn't say it was going to do that anywhere. Also the info on the VIN report was incorrect as well.

- Great Falls, MT, USA

Used VinHistoryUSA to purchase report on a VIN for a used vehicle and had an authorized charge of $1.00. Credit card was charged $1.00 with transaction description of "TrackTheVin (202) 751-4073". The same day, I was charged an unauthorized fee of $29.95 with transaction description "TestResults 251-280-1885". Two days later was again charged unauthorized charge of $4.95 from "TestResults 251-280-1885". A web search found multiple other victims experiencing the same scam. It seems that these companies are registered under Jammin Enterprises, LLC in Kentucky, and the agent/manager/director name on file has been previously charged in court for fraud.

As many others, I googled free vin report &this one came up saying “absolutely free!” So I put in my info then it says only $1 & notes “companies that say they are free may give you bad info & companies that charge you $40 are taking advantage” then it throws up a little ticking countdown clock to further pressure u. I made sure I reread everything and all the fine print. I do see it says there’s a 29.95 membership every 2 weeks but it says “order summary: initial report $1 so I assume the 29$ is billed after the 2 weeks but I also don’t see that it says that I’m signing up with a membership so idk if that’s just another option that I didn’t choose or what…. But it says summary total $1. Wrong $30 billed immediately. Ok I chalk that up to my stupidity. But then I still have no access to the website as I was supposed to for this $29 fee so what is the fee actually for?
I immediately follow the online directions to cancel and apply for a refund easy process but neither worked. The lady told me my account would be canceled after 3 days. 3 days later I got another 4.95 charge. I started googling vinhistoryusa.com scam & see from other peoples stories it can get a whole lot worse so I’ve had to contact my bank now to freeze my card

Exact same happened to me. I immediately closed my card and ordered a new one and filed a dispute with my bank

- Batavia, NY, USA

They say they charge $1 for a vehicles vin history and after they charged me $1 they tried two times to take $29.95 from me for a service I never signed up for. Then they charged my $5 when they my bank labeled the $60 they were trying to take out as fraud.

- Fort Worth, TX, USA

Used their website to lookup a VIN for an old trailer of mine that was sold to check the status. Vinhistoryusa looked it up and stated they add information and would send a report for $1. There was no mention or indication of any other charges. Immediately after making the purchase, I received a charge notice for $1 from a different website ID followed later by a spam alert from Chase of a charge of 29.95. Once I confirmed Chase had paid the charge, I tried to get it refunded. They claim it was shown in the checkout, which it was not. They could show or produce any documentation to prove they disclosed the 29.95 charge. They did cancel the subscription they started but refused to refund the 29.95.

They definitely scammed me. Definitely cost’s a dollar and then they took 2 charges of 24.95 one for their subscription which isn’t mentioned anywhere and one to some LLC company in Kentucky and they charged me 4.95 and 2 separate dollar charged. I called the place and canceled my subscription which was never mentioned but i lost about 58 bucks. I tried to get a refund for the charges but to no success. all that’s left is to file the charged as fraud with chase bank but we’ll see what comes of that. Don’t waste your time or cancel right away!

Promised name associate with vin never gave owner name, charged 1$ fee for donation for database upkeep then charged 39$ to access report with no notice or confirmation another fee was being charged. Then 9$ for owner name and did not supply.

There's take 24.95 $ every month from my debit card and I can do nothing with this issue

You can't trust in this kind of web pages, they are real scammers, please do not pay anything.

BEWARE of VinHistoryUsa.com as they promote $1 for VIN report but instantly charge you $24.95 plus the $1.for a subscription I did not sign up for. the VIN report they provide had zero information about the car I was trying to get information. you can see in the attached the quality of the reports.

This website offers VIN information for $1 but neglects to inform the website user that they will be automatically subscribed to their service for $24.95. After canceling the service by phone I have not received a refund. In the meantime, I am going to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Claims reports are only $1 but then charge a $24.95 monthly subscription. I messaged them to cancel the subscription which they said they did. They did not! Luckily my credit card company caught the second charge as fraudulent.

Report should have been free, then they told me it would cost $1. Decided to pay the $1 and got a crap report that didn’t give me any details that were not free anywhere, then proceeded to charge me $24.95 unauthorized, so now I have to deal with the dispute and headache. Don’t use them.

Unfortunately I just saw this message now, the did the same with me, I never authorized that transaction, what can we do?

One of it's sites says you can look up a car before you buy it for only $1.00. Actually it says it's free and then they ask for a dollar.
I kept reading and the next page in small print says you're really signing up for a subscription.
What do you need a subscription for if you're looking to purchase one car?

I bought a used car a few weeks ago, wanted to get my own carfax as the dealers suddenly changed from helpful to shady after we got one from them.
I went with the first option because I didn't think it mattered, $1 car fax from this site, I was OK giving them my card info but afterwards they kept asking for more info instead of giving me the report after I'd already paid, so I just stopped there and filed a claim with my bank to avoid any scams, about a week later I get a bounced $250 transaction to something called booksy, definetly this site stealing my card info. This morning I check my account and a $300 AT&T payment has gone through without my permission. I filed another claim, now I'm here reporting this scamming website.
100% a scam, just go with a safer, costly carfax site

Just bought a new car and wanted to see the history on it. We knew it had been in one accident. The website states you get it for $1, after putting in my info my cadre was charged an additional 29.95. When I tried to call it says the number was disconnected and chatted online and the person kept trying to dodge me getting a phone number, kept saying you’re speaking with a real person right now. A complete scam. I’ve never been scammed so on top of that 3 days later someone tried to charge my card 75$ for a T-Mobile bill. I have AT&T. Scam.

Same as others. Never received anything but a charge for 29.95 that was supposed to be 1$ and no refund. I cancelled my card and filed FBI internet fraud claim. Lesson learned I guess.

I was researching a VIN on a car that I lost title for to see if the title had a loan on it and was to pay 1.97 for each vin number searched
Later went through my babk statement and was charged the 1.97 and then 32.99 and when I filed a complaint saying I cancelled subscription thinking I signed up for something and they tried again a week later to take it again. But since I had the claim in with my account they stopped the payment and sent me an email saying they tried again

+1

Same as everyone else. Hidden fee and a blank report

+2

They claim a $1 charge but it’s a 29.95 monthly reoccurring fee.
