I was also scammed. BBB advised reporting it to the New York state attorney. As consumers, we should all report it to protect others. Let's all file the complaint to get them to shut this site down!

I was selling a car on Craigslist. A person seemed interested. Asked if I could get a vehicle report. They recommended a website. So I went to digitalvehiclehistory.com. Signed up and gave my card information. Now they are taking money out of my account without permission.

We signed up with VinHistoryUSA to get a report on a used car we wanted to buy. After getting the information and noting we would be charged $1.00 for a one-time use, if we cancelled within 30 days - we would not need to pay the $18.95 monthly fee. We called and cancelled 2 days after the first and only use.

We were immediately charged $18.95 and were able to get credit for that, BUT we kept getting charges for $1.00 about every 2 weeks which they would refund after a 40+ minute OFF SHORE call. During this call I noticed they kept trying to get "just a little bit more personal information" from me. First 4 digits then 6 digits of our credit card number, then our email address. Throughout the whole process, I involved our credit card company and had them dispute the charges. The final attempt (3 months in a row), they don't show us as having an account with them, even though they keep charging us $1.00. Our credit card company is handling our case from this point forward. Capital One credit card advised us NOT TO RESPOND to the email from Vin History USA requesting more information so they could try to find our account.

I found the website looking for a vin history report. Went ahead and paid a dollar for a single report. They then went ahead and decided to continue to bill and withdraw 18.95 every week. It was a couple of months before I noticed, upon which I contacted them several times and requested they stop. They said they did, yet they continued to. I had close the account to stop them, they took over 200$ before I stopped them

Site said $1 for one report. When my phone recieved notification of my bank account being billed the $1. I got another text that same second saying i was also charged 18.95. Nothing was ever mentioned about a subscription or anything other than the$1 deal.. And the report gave no info at all. This site is a big fat scam.

The “refund” DOES NOT WORK.

I received a “refund confirmation” email, AND NO REFUND WAS INITIATED. The email is also missing essential information, like dollar amounts and IDs that would be found in a legit transaction. The chat bot and email is clearly designed to make it APPEAR as though a refund is being initiated.

I disputed the transaction on my Apple Card (the message-based support system is seriously convenient), was refunded the $18.95, and issued a new digital card number which will prevent any additional recurring charges.

So same issues as most others. I have been trying since June to cancel the reoccurring chages, and I have had no luck. I did try the automated phone first, giving the last 6 digits of my debit card. This was in early June, around the first week. In July, another charge. This time I gave them my email address. I did not get an email confirming the cancellation, which I guess I should have been more diligent. So here we are in August, I did call again and give my email address. No follow up email, so this time I did follow up with the online chat. I did get a response from Michelle O, asking "what is the name of the company that charged you?" Seriously? I guess we are playing that game now. In the meantime, I did get my card temporarily suspended and filed a complaint with the bank. I am guessing that I probably won't get the refund ( I asked for a refund from June to August since I have been trying since then to cancel), but I am hoping to get the charged canceled.

Site DOES NOT CLEARLY DISCLOSE OR REQUIRE A EXPLICIT OPT-IN to a recurring monthly charge ($18.95).

The site is structured in a way that HIDES THIS INFORMATION and the “purchase report” button and surrounding area DOES NOT indicate that an additional subscription will be started. There is also no mandatory OPT-IN checkbox or other indicator.

Further more, I was NOT SENT INFORMATION on being enrolled in recurring payments and the I found out of the unwanted enrollment from a banking alert.

I’ve cancelled my subscription-I-did-not-want and should get a refund, hopefully, as I caught it in time. If not, I will dispute the recurring transaction - that - and block all payments via my bank.

Ok, everyone $1 seems so easy and simply until you have to deal with the reoccurring issues, I am 60 years old and knew better carfax $40 and a complete legit report and your done! Not going dealing with these $1 dollar bait companies over and over they do not go away they keep hitting your checking accounts, for me it is the $1 and the $18.95 over and over it is like s bad night mare.

I wanted to find all the options my vehicle had by searching the VIN so I could list it in the for sale add. I used Google to find a website that provides such info and vinhistoryusa.com was on the top of the list. It is listed as free in the Google search, however when you enter your Vin it requires a payment and says it's $1. However they charge you $18.95.

Same happened to me...ugh...called my bank to reverse and block- Charge for $1 and $18.95-total scam! Think about how many might not catch it-

This company keeps withdrawing from my account months after I requested a refund and cancelled their services.

- Poughquag, NY, USA

They claim to charge $1.00 for their service to get vehicle history reports using vin numbers. They do not render service and then proceed to charge you $18.95 on top of the dollar. It is charged through other company names that are not them. If you try to talk with them, they shut you down unless you threaten to report them. They steal credit card info and charge the card through bogus companies.

This website is a complete scam! I checked my credit card and noticed this random charge on my account for $18.95. I used the website for a vin look up. There is no phone # or address of the company to even contact to dispute the charge! I contacted my credit card company immediately! I dont even know where Shayla comes from as that is not the name of the company that I used originally. Word of advice, just pay the money and get a Carfax!

They tell you it will cost $1.00, you utilize the information they offer which tells you NOTHING about the vehicle. They then charge you $18.95 for a monthly fee on top of the $1.00 and NEVER DISCLOSE ANYTHING ABOUT $18.95!! That was 3 months ago and I cancelled EVERYTHING with them and tonight I find that stupid $1.00 charge again. I am so mad I had to cancel my credit card.

Okay so I was looking for a free or cheap Vin lookup website and stumbled upon this one it said specifically that the product I was receiving was a vehicle report for the low price of $1. Now due to the fact that I have been looking around I knew that seemed a bit fishy but I decided you know what I'm going to screenshot this before I click enter just in case this company is fraudulent. Well what do you know as soon as I clicked inter I get a notification from PayPal saying that I just paid 18.95 to this vinhistoryusa.com. I immediately click on their chat button and told him what the heck it said this was going to be a dollar and I was just charged 1895 they say they're going to refund me however it will take 3 to 5 business days to me that is absolutely insane especially due to our economy as it is right now I mean this was a very clear and blatant attempt to steal money from me and from anybody else who falls for this trap. now I know how this thing goes sometimes it'll say like oh pay a dollar now for a trial and at the end be charged 1895 a month for a subscription however that is not what this was it clearly stated this was $1 for the report never even spoke of a subscription plan so I am putting this out there number one because I better get my money back sooner than later and it better not take 5 days because I need it right now but also because this company should be shut down these people should be arrested they are stealing from people and I just got done reading one of those other two complaints about this company and saw that they wrote back saying that oh shows that you're signing up for a subscription but I'm here to tell you and I'm here to show you with my screenshot that no it doesn't say anything about subscription! I'm also going to send a screenshot of the conversation I had with the chat agent which by the way I'm stunned I was even able to speak with somebody especially cuz it's in the middle of the night but I digress this is absolutely outrageous and they need to be stopped and find I really needed that money right now I was doing a VIN check because I'm going to sell my car because I have no freaking money so for them to just steal it's absurd and wrong please shut them down!

Check you bank/credit card statements if you've ever used this company. I had the same issue as everyone else in this complaint. They say $1 and then charge your $18 and tell you you have a monthly subscription. Two months later I was charged $1 by Shayla Vin Service - Tempe AZ when I have not used or ever asked for their services after my run in with them in June. That was illegal use of my card so now I'm going to have to get a new one so I don't go through this again.

A total scam! I checked my card after reading these complaints and they did charge me $18.95 the same day and time they took out $1.00. I called and Jasmine, very rude and very hard to understand talked over me THE WHOLE TIME and tried to be aggressive until I mentioned contacting my Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, the FTC along with my Senator's. All of a sudden the tone changed and Jasmine stated my refund of $18.95 would be credited to my card and the monthly $18.95 membership would be cancelled. A TOTAL SCAM!

THIS IS A SCAM. it is a phishing site and they do not return funds per the phony refund policy. just file a claim of fraud with your bank and the ATTORNEY GENERAL AND FTC.

ALSO THE CRAZY UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE CHAT AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE SCREENSHOT LOG TELL YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS FAKE SCAMMER SITE. THEY ACTUALLY TRIED TO TELL ME I WAS CHARGED $1 WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT MY BANK SHOWING THE LIE AND 2 CHARGES OR $18.95 AND $1 WHICH THEY WILL TRY TO CONTINUE CHARGING YOU.

THE COMBATIVE RUDE REP LITERALLY SAID " THE FACT THAT YOU ARE SO BROKE THAT YOU'RE IRATE OVER A DOLLAR THAT HAS BEEN STATED WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU IS HONESTLY RIDICULOUS...THE GOVERNMENT IOS GIVING OUT MONEY FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND APPLY, CLEARLY YOU NEED IT.

NO MORE NEED TO BE SAID. MAKE THE EASY CLEAR JUDGEMENT AFTER THAT STATEMENT! VINHISTORYUSA.COM IS A FAKE FRAUD PHISHING SITE. BEWARE!
