Sarah Hamilton attempted to scam me via ebay sale of a 2006 Lexus which supposedly belonged to her dead spouse. Thank God for Andy Griffith who taught me to use my horse sense. I'm a country girl, but I ain't no [censored].

Had issues with her too. Please don't fall for it ! She got four hundred dollars. Glad we found out before she got more. She was selling is a 2017 7x16 cargo trailer. Her husband had passed away and trailer had too many memories . Need to sell before leaving for military. Chalk it up for lesson learned ! God don't like ugly !

She got me for $1200. I feel like a fool why didn't I know Ebay was so cold? I immediately contacted them after I was asked for an additional $1000 and spoke to the Gift Card Department - Albert who said the cards HAD NOT BEEN USED YET AND HE WOULD "FREEZE" THEM. That was a Friday. On Monday when I was going to CVS Pharmacy to get replacement cards I was told Albert was wrong and the cards were already used. How do I know if he didn't use them? Ebay doesn't want to give me the contact information for the person who redeemed the cards nor will they give me a transcript of my conversations with them for my own records. WHEN IS EBAY GOING TO PROTECT US BY ADDING A SECOND LAYER OF PROTECTION? I am filing complaints against them too!

I have filed reports with: San Jose Police Department, San Antonio Police Department, FTC.gov, FDIC.gov, Ken Paxton Texas Attorney General, Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.gov and with the Federal Reserve.gov. Will be contacting the F.B.I. on Monday for this interstate crime. I am an elderly disabled person with early onset dementia. I need help.

Have already found 8 other posts where they stole people's accounts and placed their own ads. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO STOP THEM!

Same story as all above. I started to get a funny feeling in my stomach when I asked where I could look at it and she said it was already at the shipping company and it would be delivered to me and I’d have a “5-day inspection period.” The eBay thing seemed wonky too. The $1000 selling price seemed off, too, but I was hoping I was just really lucky!

Thanks to all of you for reporting this wretched woman!

Same deal: selling 2008 airstream for $1,000 because of husbands heart attack.

Needs to be investigated.

$1200 they got me too. I am so mad at myself. Does anyone really know if this Sarah Hamilton is her real name? She sent me a photo of herself and her two sons. I wonder if thats real. I am not gonna rest until I have filed at least ten reports to various entities and this will include the F.B.I. FOR ELDER ABUSE!

I found a listing on FB (don't remember the name though) that said he was saleing a 2001 Ford F-150 Lighting with 89,000 miles on it, for $1,400, for his aunt. Then he gave me the email address and she sent more pics... LOL, knew it was a scam immediately, just wanted to see how far "she" would go with me kinda ghosting and only replying every couple weeks. I have attached screen shots of first email + photos.
... I knew better when I saw a Ford F-150 Lighting with under 100,000 miles for $1,400

Good thing that I chose to dig deeper! Ralph A. Arnone was posting a too-good-to-be-true car on FB Marketplace. When I asked, I got an immediate email to his "sister". The email was [email protected]. She responded with the same "dead husband" email as mentioned above from sarah_hamilton (WOW..."she" already deleted our email conversation)...anyway, a comcast email with a different car's pictures. While I was waiting to hear from her, I found this post! SO glad I did. I knew I smelled a rat! I responded to "her" with "It didn't take me too long to find out you were a scammer" and she deleted our emails.

What can we do to keep these awful people from preying on those with less tech-saavy smarts?

I got the same email!
The 2008 Airstream Ocean Breeze is still available. Dry Weight: 2,825 lbs. Payload Capacity: 675 lbs. GVWR: 3,500 lbs. Hitch Weight: 430 lbs. Length: 16.58 ft Width: 8 ft Height: 9.33 ft, Interior Height: 6.38 ft, Sleeping Capacity: 4, Air Conditioners 1, Awnings 1. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price of $1000 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this camper has to go. If you are interested in buying my camper, feel free to email me.

I feel very stupid after having communication with this horrible scammer!

Advertised a 2013 GMC Denali for $2000. When I asked for a phone number and ebay user name "she" deleted the emails from my inbox and sent.

Saw a too good to be true deal on Facebook for an Acura MDX. After messaging the "dealer", there was an immediate response to email his sister, "Sarah Hamilton" at [email protected]...

I found an airstream camper on Marketplace that was priced much too good to be true ($1200). I emailed Sarah and she answered me immediately explaining that she had lost her husband two months ago and it was too painful to keep this little gem. I needed to provide her my name/address/phone and she would work with ebay to confirm the sale since she relocated to Minnesota. I spoke to my sister who purchases vintage campers and she told me "beware" those things go for 45K and up. So I did a google check and there she was selling a Harley Motorcycle. She didn't even have the intelligence to change her sales pitch. It was word for word the same jargon she used to list the Airstream. I sent her an email telling her that the jig was up and she should be ashamed of herself using a husband's death in her scams. She hilariously wrote back asking for the same info and said that ebay would contact me. No thanks Sarah. You suck. And thanks for this website.

I had the exact same thing happen with a different car! When I realized that the eBay number wasn't a toll free number, I figured it out. I didn't even bother to email again.

Same as 24 other reports you have. I'm adding my final email to her, so others can have a LAUGH and get this scammer.
After reading your message regarding the invoice and payment bull[censored], your scam is exposed because you actually contradicted yourself. You originally said you would send eBay my information, so they would arrange an inspection/ test drive giving me 3 days to decide, and no payment confirmation would be needed to be sent to you because as you stated you are letting eBay handle it. Why would you need to a confirmation of payment ?if a purchase was arranged obviously you would automatically get a notice. And I haven't received anything because your accomplices failed to follow through. Your 2nd mistake was saying they sent you verification of sending me the info. Again you elected to have eBay handle this, you therefore don't need verification of anything except a confirmation saying Good news we have sold your item. How can you live with yourself knowing my dilemma my disability and continue with your attempt to play this scam.in the time you're reading these last words the FBI is receiving a fax of everything as we speak. Thought you were sincere. Your husband dying of heart attack and just wanted to sell RV because of bad memories was a stupid reason, your mistake again… Should have said brings back too many memories and makes me sad. Anyway, Sarah, I have a message from your Husband. GO [censored] YOURSELF AND ID LEAVE THE LOCATION YOU ARE AT, FBI IS 12 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE RAID THAT ABOUT TO GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK AND SOME BAD MEMORIES FOR A while.

My experience is the same as previous posts. This time she's trying to sell Winnebago RV for $1200! Her story and info is the same. She wrote that transaction is through eBay and they pay for shipping vehicle! If you read eBay's info, you see that they DON'T do this! I can't believe this scam is still going on! Buyers please beware!

I send a message to Jennifer rothenberg-Montgomery by marketplace
“ www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/548853523364648/

Hello, is this still available?”

She immediately response: Hi ! The 2009 Toyota RAV4 is still available at $2000. Is in excellent condition, please text me by email for pictures and more details. Cause i'am at work ! Here is my email: [email protected]

So I send an email and she said:
The 2009 Toyota RAV4 is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. It has a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine (great on gas), automatic transmission & only 85,654 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price of $2.OOO because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this SUV has to go. If you are interested in buying, feel free to email me.
And then when I said that I was interested, she said exactly the same that read here
“ Hi again,
Thank you for your reply. As I explained in my previous email I was accepted for a new job and I moved to my hometown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a regular eBay user and now with this new virus situation I decided to use their services. You will have to pay eBay and they won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The vehicle is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. We also benefit from free shipping, it will be delivered to your address within 3 days and you have a 5 days inspection period to test and inspect it. Please provide me your information (name, address and phone#) so I can register you as the buyer and after that eBay will send you an email with the terms and conditions, with no obligation on buying it and also they will confirm the fact that the transaction is conducted through them and I'm a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details. Thank you.”
And then a said that I prefer to go and see the car and she said
If you would like to receive the email from eBay with all the transaction information, please reply with your complete name, shipping address ( street, zip code ) and phone # and they will contact you right away.Thank you
And then I google it and thanks I saw this and a send a messenger with her Facebook profile.

I replied to a facebook marketplace post for a $1000 Scamp trailer posted in Denver by someone named DeAnna Stanton. She directed me to email "her cousin" [email protected]. I did, and got 8 photos of a trailer and this reply:

"The 2002 Scamp Travel Trailer is still available. It Has Toilet! Shower! Hot water heater Stainless steel sink! 3 burner stove! Oven! 3 way Dometic refrigerator! Fantastic fan! New tires! 2 propane tanks! 1 deep cycle battery!. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price of $1000 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this trailer has to go. If you are interested in buying, feel free to email me."

All of this was sending up huge red flags obviously, so I replied with utmost compassion:

"Sarah, this sounds perfect. I'd love to buy it as it sounds like you need a little help right now too. I hope you can see that I'm serious. I've been looking for a way to travel more and especially with those amenities you mention, this Scamp seems perfect. I'd like to show you I'm serious so I can reserve it now, because my goodness, a deal like this doesn't come along every day. I'm so sorry to hear that your husband passed away. I have heard heart attacks can be a painful and lonely way to go. Maybe the best way to honor his memory will be to make sure that you don't end up dying frightened and alone in an imaginary travel trailer too. I only wish I could help more. It's too dangerous for you in there. Especially since you've moved back to your hometown now and everyone there already knows what a pathetic scammer you are. I wish I could help you, but there's one problem. I have this perfect $1000 bill I just printed, but because it has your dead husband's aorta printed on it where a president's face should be, I think it would only give you more bad memories, which would put you back at square one. This is a terrible quandary. I guess it just wasn't meant to be."

Avoid this pathetic, obvious scammer people!

I responded to an ad on Facebook for a 2011 Kubota B2920 tractor for $1200.00. I was directed to purchase eBay cards to pay. Which I did(stupid, right?). Then they said I had to purchase insurance for $800 which I would get back upon delivery. I have asked for a refund from eBay (if it was even them?).

Please help!
