Hi again,
Thank you for your reply. As I explained in my previous email I was accepted for a new job and I moved to my hometown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a regular eBay user and now with this new virus situation I decided to use their services. You will have to pay eBay and they won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The vehicle is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. We also benefit from free shipping, it will be delivered to your address within 3 days and you have a 5 days inspection period to test and inspect it. Please provide me your information (name, address and phone#) so I can register you as the buyer and after that eBay will send you an email with the terms and conditions, with no obligation on buying it and also they will confirm the fact that the transaction is conducted through them and I'm a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details. Thank you.

I had the same experience with Sarah Hamilton posing as a widow trying to sell her 2002 Fleetwood RV for $2000. I looked up scamming and found this page. Thank you to all who have posted their experience.

Same experience with this Sarah Hamilton. Selling an RV for $2000 through Facebook Marketplace. As soon as my husband clicked on the item, he inquired to find out if the item was still "available". She then sent an email stating that it was. She was needing to get rid of it because of her husband passing away and it held too many memories. Also that she had just moved back to her home town of Minneapolis, MN and was starting a new job. Same BS storyline like she fed other's on here. The only way to pay for it was to purchase the eBay gift cards worth $2000.00. Then to call eBay with the following number on the purchase agreement +1(818)900-2664. Seems every time we called that number it was transferred to an overseas eBay associate. I was able to contact the eBay fraud dept. online through a chat help line. I advised the fraud dept. of what took place, they looked her up in their database, no match came back as they searched her name along with the address on the invoice. Good news is that most of the gift cards were purchased with a credit card. With that being said, eBay Fraudulent Dept., my local sheriff's dept., my financial institute (fraud dept.), IC3.gov fraud, and my IP fraud dept. They should find this chick soon because she seems to using comcast internet and they too will be alerted about her as well because I have a son who works with comcast here in MS.

Just received an email from Sarah Hamilton also. She is using facebook to sell cars. i am sure she is using other websites too. This is what she wrote to me. I used quotations marks. "Hi again,

Same as others. Sob story about dead husband, car bringing bad memories. Got to the point of initiating purchase via e-bay motors. Provided email address and tel. #. Then came an invoice telling me I had to pay for it by purchasing a bunch of gift cards. That made me a bit suspicious, so I searched for Sarah Hamilton / ebay, and here we are. I am trying now to report this to e-bay, but they don't seem too interested in hearing about it. Good news: did not lose any money. Bad news, feel like a freaking [censored] for almost falling for this scam.

Ebay will not do anything,
until they start to lose money because of this scammer.

Same story, Jeep Wrangler for sale by Sarah Hamilton, my wife almost got scammed, she even bought $1400.00 worth of eBay cards, but I discovered the scam before the cards were spent, thank goodness for that. I think we're still stuck with the cards, but at least they can be used for legitimate purchases.

I was looking for a vehicle and I came across this post on Facebook Marketplace about a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle. I added a screenshot of a note with more information as well as screenshots of my interaction.

I got an email from Sarah Hamilton. This is it:

The 2004 Toyota Camry XLE is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. Thank you guys so much for these reviews or I would have been 1000 bucks down and I can't spare that.

Thank you to all who are sharing about Sarah Hamilton. I happened to google my own version of Sarah ([email protected]) and came upon this group of reviews which confirmed my initial thoughts that my deal with Sarah was too good to be true.

She was offering me Toyota Camry XLE for 1000 with only 85,000 miles. Here's exactly what she sent me...

"The 2004 Toyota Camry XLE is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. I responded with my condolences (ugh) and then gave her my name/address/phone info (double ugh). Supposedly "ebay" is going to reply to me today lol. I have not received the email yet but you can better believe that I'm going to send it straight to the trash or fwd to authorities haha.

Thanks everyone for posting your scams!

I just replied a [email protected] about a cheap RV and she sent me the same sad story about her husband bassing and images of the RV. When it looks too good to be true, it's often too good to be true. Thanks for sharing on this website!

Wow, just had a brush with "Sarah Hamilton" myself. Found an RV I liked at a cheap price, so I was suspicious. Emailed the person, got a BS story about her husband having died recently and she was selling to get rid of bad memories. I tried to arrange a time to meet to look at the vehicle, no response. This morning I saw ANOTHER RV is a whole other city, same price, EXACT same milage, also "Sarah Hamilton" but a slightly different email. Wow. Going to report this person to Facebook, but not sure if much can be done as they will just keep changing identity.

Just had a similar experience with Sarah. They are still using Sarah Hamilton, posting a recreation trailer on facebook marketplace, asking for ebay gift cards as payment. Be weary!

I have a similar experience about buying a camper. The words are word for word just different item. When I mentioned not feeling comfortable purchasing eBay gift cards she then replied just follow the instructions I know you will fall in love with the camper. I had a feeling this was a scam. Omg the links people will go to.

My husband was selling a couch for $100 on Craigs List. The "buyer" claimed they wanted to send a cashier's check for the couch and would even provide $50 extra to take it off the advertisement. The buyer then sent a Cashier's check in the amount of $1,900 claiming it was for moving costs (she would have movers come pick up the couch and wanted us to pay the movers). She tried to get us to deposit the cashiers check. We sent a text saying we would not deposit the check, it was not what we agreed to, and we asked for a name and address to send the check back. (Note: The "check" was from a company in Texas, the cashier's check was from a bank in Illinois). No cover letter was even provided. She again asked us to not return the check, rather just deposit it.

We again replied, we would not deposit the check, again requested a name and address, and she never replied after that. When we called the number, it turned out to be a text only number. Thank goodness we did not deposit the check as our research into scams indicated others who had, ended up losing money.

There is a car listed on craigslist for $1500 ( 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L). The selling list a phone number or email to contact her if you're intersted, so I did. I text the number (267) 579-3853 saying I was interested in the van. I got a reply that said to send my email address and they would send details and pictures. Then I received an email with pictures and this message...

" The 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. It has a 3.5L - 6 cylinder engine (great on gas), automatic transmission & only 86,773 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price 1,500 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this car has to go. If you are interested in buying my car, feel free to email me."

I also attached more pictures.

Bet regards,

Sarah Hamilton

This was my response....

Hi Sarah, my condolences to you. Yes I am very interested in the van. I would like to test drive it. How can we set up arrangements?

Thanks

Then this was here response...

Hi again

As I told you in my first email, got a new job and moved back to my hometown, Omaha, NE. Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay so my presence isn't necessary. They won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle. It is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. The shipping cost is included in the selling price of the vehicle! You got 5 days to test it and inspect the vehicle. So if you want to make this deal I need the following details from you:

-full name

-shipping address

-phone number

Once I got all the details, I will forward them to eBay and they will proceed with the order. They'll email you with all the information that you need to complete this deal and also they will confirm that the deal is conducted through them and I'm a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details.

Thank you

Then I sent her my name, address and phone number.

Then here is her last response...

P.S. It may take up to 12 hours for eBay to process the information and they will send you the invoice tomorrow morning for sure.

The next morning I received a email and this is what it said...

Dear *** ***,

I got the exact same BS story about the husband dying yesterday when I emailed "Sarah" about an RV I saw on FB Marketplace. I just posted about it. Incredible. Glad you all created this topic and posted about this person. My suspicions were correct.
