Joseph Chestnut

A man-child, millennial youth-pastor type grifter named Joseph Chestnut (no, not the hot dog eating contest guy, a different one). My friend told me about her mom being scammed by this company and it got me super interested and I started sleuthing. My friend gave me the phone number on her credit card statement, and just like another comment on here said, it belongs to a household with the last name “chestnut” and is the same number attached to Joseph Chestnut fitness trainer’s Facebook page. Through this I identified his Instagram account, like the other comment said, too. Someone needs to hold this creep accountable for preying on the elderly and vulnerable people who just wanted to transfer their home videos to DVD. Sick, absolutely sick. How does he sleep at night?

Ghosted by RAD VCR after purchase

I saw an ad on 3.9.21 for a VCR/DVD recorder combo and contacted them to see if it would really record DVDs from tv. I was assured it would. I decided to order one on 3.11.21 & never got any shipment. For a year I emailed the gmail account listed, asking for a refund without a single answer. This is a copy of their emailed confirmation & my requests for refund in replies. I've hidden my personal info in these. All links listed in a Google search went to other ads that seem to be legit online stores, or maybe more of their scams.

Today (6.25.23) while looking for something else in my photo gallery, I saw the screenshots that reminded me of this scam & I googled the company only to find even more reports of scams.

Has there been any progress in prosecuting these people for talking advantage of others that shopped online during a pandemic? If there's any class action suit concerning this, I'd like to help with my experience.

I had the exact same happen to me as all of the other reviews! I emailed and sent messages with no response. I ordered Jan 13th and wish I would have read all of this before ordering! It is so upsetting that people have to be so dishonest!

Ordered mid-January, trying to help my in-laws transfer an old home movie. Was told that the order would come in three shipments, the first of which was two blank dvds. There was a nice little letter in there about this being a family business and knowing the price was a big commitment, one they don't take lightly. I emailed three separate times, trying to find out what happened to the other two shipments. One bumped back to me and said the destination was invalid. That was my first red flag. Wish I'd done more homework before I wasted this money!

On April 1, 2021 i ordered and payed for a Rad/VCR/Recorder. After two months i called them. They told me they were backed up because of microchips and will send it to me soon. I waited another month and there phone # didn't work. So i e-mailed them. The response i got seamed promising. As the months went by, i knew i was scamed and lost my money.

I ordered said VCR DVD combo Sunday night. Even received an email from a Joshua Miller saying he would include a remote and noted on my account. The website is listed as Family VCR even a Google ad. I went on chat this Tuesday morning to get an update... No one to answer the "live chat". Emailed 3 times Tuesday, using different emails asking for update on status... No reply. Then I googled to see what's up and lo and behold here I am reading what I should have before I ordered. I am contacting my CC company tomorrow, with a screenshot of the alleged receipt and other information. The website I saw said the company is from Texas, and the credit card ( which was charged Sunday when I ordered!), says Costa Mesa, California. Charged $ 199.98 and not happy... Should have known it was to good to be true. Going to do ebay or a couple other legit companies for what I want but not before this is settled. Very upset and these people need prosecuted.

These people are habitual scammers. Brett Bartlett and his wife an in-laws have run lots of similar types of scam businesses like this new VCR one. They owe tens of millions of dollars to investors and others whose money they took. They're being investigated by the US Attorney General.

I had the same scenario as Margaretta above.
To condense it…
Purchased VCR & DVD combo player on 1/2/2022. They debited account for $199.98 on the same day.
Received email stating had my order and would be shipped soon.
1/7/2022…received a letter and 2 blank DVD’s as a bonus.
Letter stated would receive two more shipments.
Shipment 2…contains VCR & DVR combo player around 3-5 business days after receiving first shipment.
Shipment 3.. would contain VHS tape adapter chord. Also around 3-5 business days after receiving shipment 1.

I too sent 2 emails to no avail. My heart aches for trusting these scammers. We are on a fixed income and this was a low blow. Even had the audacity to send a picture of their “ suppose to be family “ but when I goggled the address the people living there were in their 70’s-80’s but the picture was a very young family!

There needs to be a class action suit!

On January 16, 2022, I searched the internet for where to buy VCR/DVD combo. Then an article popped up from Noel Bartlett supposed VCR PLAYER STORE owner stating: "Are you wanting to transfer your VHS tapes to DVDs and digital OR just watch old tapes?" "Most people want a vcr player so they can transfer all their old vhs tapes to a DVD or digital." Then he listed retailers to purchase vcr/dvd's AND lists their company VCR PLAYER STORE on the bottom stated that they can sell vcr/DVD combos for about $150 or so.

I then went on VCR PLAYER STORE website & saw the following:

"Almost sold out, ships in 1-2days, & a supposed Honest customer good review

They also stated that they will upgrade the vcr/DVD player & will ship it along with a vhs tape that will record your old vhs tapes to your computer or blank DVD.

My checking account was debited on the same day Jan 16 for $199.98 & I received an email from VCR player store stating "we're getting your order ready to be shipped."

I sent the company a chat message & email & I have received zero response. My order was placed on 1/16/22, but it never shipped. As of today 1/25, no vcr received.

I searched the company name today & saw an article reporting the scam. The article heading read: BEWARE; VCR PLAYER STORE linked to RADvcr--which is a scam. The article also mentioned phone # (402) 973-1879 is associated with RADvcr & Vcr player store. There is a ScamPulse.com complaint that was filed on 12/8/21 by another consumer.

Ordered a VRC/DVD player from this company last March. After a few months, I emailed them to ask what was going on. They said that there were delays in shipping and as soon as the product comes in, they will send it to me. In August, I e-mailed them again and their excuse this time was that the manufacturer was behind and my player would be shipped out ASAP! It is now Jan 2022 and they have not responded to my last e-mail written in Dec. Right now, I'm out $209!

On 3/25/2021 I ordered the Rad/Vcr combo and never received the unit. Allowing for a delay in shipment due to the Covid19 affect on manufacturing and shipping, I made several attempts to contact the company to request a refund, but none was made. I wonder why the CA attorney general's office has not initiated a fraud charge against the owners of the business.

RAD VCR makes new VCR'S and to upgrade it to make VHS into CD's. To transform old VHS"s, movies, and CD's to new recording. This company say it will make this VCR within 3 months and the charged $199.00 special off $345.00 on a new VCR transferable old to new. I placed my order March 2021, has called the numbers and spoke to a sale man and a desk clerk I guess, a few times and all I get is "due to Covid sales are behide". So I emailed to get a refund no response. Customer Service number no answer 800 274 3852 . Here is another address it is used
