"We've noticed that your background and resume have been recommended by several online recruitment agencies, so we'd like to offer you a part-time job that you can do in your free time,” the message said. “Our job is simple: we simply rate your favorite restaurants.”

Their names were Teresa, Ali, and Ali texted about a zoom call, Teresa called- when I asked her about the name of the company or any other names she said there weren't any and had no excuse as to why I couldn't see it on my applied jobs on Indeed.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been a victim of a job scam. On 6/29/24, I received an email from Chris Ruiz, stating they are still hiring for a personal assistant position. I didn’t respond. I then received the same email. In which stated to respond interested. Yesterday, I responded interested. I was then sent a link to complete a questionnaire, I completed the questionnaire. I then received an email stating I was hired and welcomed me to them. I then received an email from Roger Smith claiming to he would be my supervisor. I was informed that to move forward, I would need to deposit a check of $2550 into my account for equipment and training. A check was sent to me, and unfortunately, I did deposit the check. I am in a rough state right now. I am disabled and unable to work. A work from home job is suitable for me, and I thought what to be a legitimate job and I fell for the scam. I have received the same email on 6/10/2024. I am in a lot of pain and my mind isn’t in the right place right now, and the scammers took advantage of me. I don’t feel good about this at all. I can’t believe people will go through this extreme. I have contacted the FTC and FBI, internet crime about this scam.

Reached out to me as I am currently looking for a job. Had a position available making a significant amount of money. Sent w-4 forms, offer letter without even speaking with me.

- New York, NY, USA • Jul 03, 2024

Contacted me about an Admin position, always contacted me by text. When asked why not emailing was told some **** about them being a new type of Company. They asked all the right questions and on each Zoom call they would continually say that they were looking for Committed people. They had at first about 64 ppl on the 1st Zoom call and asked if anyone wanted to work remotely. I'm guessing those were the ones that got off early. I constantly asked what the name of the Company was and asked what type of business but got no answers. I also asked to whom we were speaking with and got NO names. I requested a phone call and someone named Robert called. I asked about their payment system and was told all this would be explained to me once I got some one day training and signed an Employment Agreement. AGAIN, I asked how they'd be taking out taxes and was told I'd do all that paperwork after I started working, which to me sounded kind of hinky. Each time I was given a start date, all of a sudden I'd hear from NO ONE. Then a few days later I receive another text with a Zoom link and information on training & a new start date.

I BELIEVE this is a SCAM for sure.

This website is a scam and will take your money. It is also connected to the website bccal-vh.com

- Philadelphia, PA, USA • Jun 25, 2024

This man approached me at my job in Philadelphia as a retail employee at a cosmetics company. He asked if I was a makeup artist because he was looking to hire makeup artist instructors at his school, claiming to be the CEO of The Makeup Academy of New York City which opened a new location near my current job in Philadelphia recently. He gave me his information and told me to contact him to set up an interview. I reached out and he scheduled the interview for the next day. He called me and added the Executive Director to the call. He quickly told me about the exciting opportunities the job will provide once I start, such as traveling to different countries to teach classes and do makeup shows, movies, and other opportunities. Then he said that I would have to pay for a teaching course in order to be able to do the job but wouldn't say how much it would be, but that it was necessary if I really wanted to have a great career. He kept stressing the money I would make and the exciting places I would go, as well as the famous people I would work with and that I would be all over magazines and billboards. After the call, I looked him up to find little information and nothing saying that he is the CEO or the company. When I called the academy myself to ask who the CEO was, it called the New York City location because both schools share the same number. She was defensive and wanted to forward the call to the other location instead of answering my question. No one answered the phone at the other location (Philadelphia) so I am still very certain he is lying. I also found documentation online about a scam he did while working at a school called The Allen School as a chief operating officer, which reported that he was sued for providing improper incentive compensation to enrollment personnel and false job placement information to students. This information was found through justice.gov and U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York. He also has a Linkedin page showing that he was the president and chief operating officer for Empire Education Group for 5 years. This was proven false after contacting them personally through a simple phone call. The makeup school is also not on the ScamPulse.com under the name "The Makeup Academy New York City", not to be confused with "The New York Makeup Academy", which it is not associated with.

They cold contact via phone and/or text message saying they have a job opportunity for you.

- Memphis, TN, USA • Jun 12, 2024

I did not get as far in the scam as others did. They sent me an email stating they got my resume from ZipRecruiter and that they are looking for me to fill a Data Entry position with pay at $28 per hour. Next email stated it would start at $25 and with more experience work up to $28. No real application process except a timed form which I originally thought would be a typing test. After that, I was told to fill outa form with my name, address, phone number, email, and a few questions about work experience. Once i was done it told me to direct any questions to James at 4845573028. This was the first time i got a phone number. It also never gave an address and all emails say they are from Stephanie Wiggins. There is anothe scam it seems that is exactly like this just a different business name. I just did this minutes ago, so I haven't been asked to buy equipment with their credit card or anything else yet.

- Helena, AL, USA • Jun 07, 2024

My experience is exactly like the one from Nov. 2023. I was contacted via text and they said they were from FLEXJOBS, which is a job site I had recently been on. They said they were from the HR dept. and had several good remote jobs available, which is what I was searching for. So I agreed to hear more information. I was skeptical from the beginning, but they strung me along just long enough. They even involved me in a WhatsApp text group that I am convinced was made up of AI chatbots, not real people. I feel so stupid. Do not fall for it like I did!

On I received a text from a gal claiming to be from Glassdoor as a recruiter for a marketing company called BCC-AI based out of Colorado. I recently have been looking for a job on Glassdoor so didn't think much of it. Phone number 347-818-2640 She gave me a brief description of a marketing job and asked if I was interested. After expressing my interest she said I would get a text from Emma and to also check my Whatsapp for a message. Next day (today 5/29/2024) I get a text from phone number 323-847-3970 asking to confirm my interest. I did so and then she asked me to send her a message on Whatsapp number at 202-439-2175. At this point I realized it might be a scam but continued to dig. When I opened up my Whatsapp I had a message from Emma but it was a different number 202-359-2042 asking if I was available to start training. I replied to this message asking if it was the same person and they responded yes. I dug further asking for the website of the company and further details on the job. https://bccailtd.com/ is the website she gave me and then sent me a break down of a progressive pay that increased based on the number of time you log into the account and then again asked if I was available to start the 30 min training. I went on asking further questions about how the payout works, what tax documents would be needed and if we could just do a phone call. She stated she didn't have availability for a phone call and she said it would all be explained in the training so I asked how the training works and she sent me the following link to register an account for a workspace profile https://bccai-seo.com. when I opened it I went directly to the terms and conditions but it opened a blank page. I asked about it (fully aware that it was a scam at this point) and she told me to reopen it in a Google browser. When I searched the website Google showed that the website was created 2 days ago and couldn't find any information about this company anywhere. Again I confronted her about this and asked if she could send me any resources showing validity of the business she sent me a screenshot of a certificate of good standing showing the company name BCCAI LTD. I tried searching the website through ScamPulse.com and again and stated that a company can only receive that certificate if they are registered with ScamPulse.com but I couldn't find them. She responded saying I don't know then continued to ask me to go through the training. Overall, I tried digging in to get as much info as possible to report them as they are obviously a scam. The address on the website shows Washington, DC but the description on the website says Colorado.
