Employment Scam Reports & Reviews (1627)

- Homestead, FL, USA • Dec 07, 2024

I was looking for a job on Glassdoor and the person asked me for my email to send me the details of a remote job at a Christian school as a communications specialist. I sent them my email. The person, Beth Anderson, then asked me to complete employment forms along with my banking account information for direct deposit. I completed the information and returned the forms as it seemed legitimate at the time. I didn't think anything of it until after they sent me a check to deposit for my home equipment which I had to buy from them. They then sent me an invoice for the equipment which I was to use the check sent to me to buy the equipment. They wanted the money to be wired to the company for the equipment which I did and that is when everything fell apart. I called Encore Pro Staffing and found out that Encore Pro Staffing did not hire remote people as they hired for labor positions in Tulsa, OK. The letterhead and address on the onboarding paperwork looked legit and I did look them up before but missed looking more into the website before all of this happened. I have the email and all correspondence for the people who frauded me but the one person who I did a virtual interview with deleted his profile once they got their money. I don't think she deleted her information as she may had been set up to do this unknowingly as she continued to contact me afterwards asking me about continuing the onboarding process. I was told to download an app similar to What's App for the interview. The app was Wire. They asked me to download wire, create an account, and contact @peterhimanen at: Hiring Manager: Peter Himanen; Note: Text Based and Voice Call Interview; Interview Code: EPS-107NW. I have all contact correspondence.

I applied on ZipRecruiter, and I got an email the next day saying how qualified I was for the job. I wanted to see if it really was true, the interview was only through messages on Microsoft Teams, no phone call or anything. They promised $35hr and a flexible schedule, it seemed too good to be true, I passed the interview, and he told me the next step was training but before that I had to give him a lot of information about myself. At that point is where I stopped, I knew it was fake not only that, but I kept going on their website they have a few and tried to call multiple times but it was just disconnected.

I applied for a data entry clerk position through LinkedIn last week (end of November). On Tuesday, Dec 3rd, I received an email from someone claiming to be the Human Resource Officer and that my resume had been received and reviewed. The email was an invite for an interview to discuss qualifications and suitability. I replied back stating yes, I was still interested in the position. That evening I received another email, from the same Human Resource Officer. This email gave a little more information on the job position and included a questionnaire that was being asked to complete. It was stated that this questionnaire needed to be filled out promptly due to the high volume of candidates applying. It was about 20 questions of what would normally be asked in an interview. The questions did pertain to a data entry or data analysis position. I spent quite a bit of time answering and submitted the questionnaire Thurs, Dec 5 about 8pm CST. By 10pm CST I received a reply back that my questionnaire had been received and was being reviewed. I was told a supervisor would be looking at it and if felt I was a good candidate, I would be contacted. My first red flag this was a scam was the fact a company who's address showed as Miami, FL was emailing me back so late in the evening. They work that late? Then this morning. Dec 6, I received 2 emails, one from the same person as before congratulating me on getting the position and welcoming me to the company. The email stated I would be receiving a job offer letter with more information. That was the 2nd email, still from the same person. This email had attachments of an I-9 form, a W-4 form and the job offer letter. The letter looked official with a company logo and a signature from the Human Resource Director but no where on the form was there a phone number to contact them. This was another red flag.

I began wondering how they could hire me within a 72 hr period from contacting me without ever talking to me personally or conducting a video interview, no background check, etc. So I started researching and found others on Redditt were complaining about this same company and how it was a scam. That the company website seems to be a copy from a company in another state, that they found this company's domain had only been registered since Oct 2024 even though the website stated they were 11 years old and that the ScamPulse.com had no record of this company. When googling the address that showed on the email, the address belongs to an entirely different company.

This job offer stated computer equipment would be supplied but that I would have to pay the taxes on it. They stated I would get a $400 stipend upon my week training. Another red flag, who only gives 1 week of training?

Dear xxxxx,

I wanted to follow up regarding the shipping assistant position we discussed. We’ve recently expanded our search, so this fully remote opportunity is now available to qualified candidates nationwide, not just those located in xxxxxxx, New Jersey.

This role offers a starting salary of $3,500 per month, with the potential for performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. To be eligible, candidates should have a U.S. mailing address and be available to work during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.). Your main responsibilities would include updating shipment statuses and preparing packages for delivery. Additionally, we cover all related job expenses, so there are no costs on your end.

If this opportunity seems like a good fit, I’d be happy to share more details—just let me know!

Best regards,

Rachel Hill

Executive HR Manager

P.S. A fun coincidence – my mother’s maiden name is also xxxxxxxxx!

The scammer posted job applications for Marketing & Design roles. As part of their application, they would require candidates to do a "Take Home Assessment". This take home assessment involved doing real client work, where the applicant's work would be directly used and sold to their clients. For example, they asked to redesign https:/********************* , and specifically referenced the assignment as client work. There are other instances of reports of this on their glassdoor reviews, so I believe this to be a widespread issue.

The companies Highland solutions reached out to me offering a job. They then said they were going to contact me on WhatsApp. A “Tutor” named Melissa with the WhatsApp number +1 (424) 867-7271 instructed me to sign up for an account on the website (https://highlandsolutions.cc/). After signing up I was told that I had to deposit $20 to start my account and I would be able to work in my account. After depositing and completing the first day I received a payout which made it appear to be legit. But on the third day I had received what is called a “Lucky” order which put your account into the negative. This negative amount was over $4,000 or $6,000 dollars. I was forced to deposit $2700 dollars to get and get help from the tutor to cover the rest. After that Highland solutions AI system gave me another “Lucky” order on my last tasks of the day. This time requiring me to deposit over $18,800 to clear the negative balance and get access to the withdrawal process. This is a AI made scam that target me and preposefully gave me unaffordable orders so that I couldn’t pay them and highland solutions or another party would take my money.

Initially received an email on 11/19/2024, requesting interview for a remote job opportunity. Before I saw the email. I received 2 voicemails from Camden, New Jersey #856 249-9338 stating that emails had been sent to me related to a position I applied for through Indeed..

I reviewed submitted applications on Indeed, and did not find any similar company names.

I returned the call to the Camden, New Jersey phone number. The recorded answering message did not give a company name, and requested that I leave my callback information, which I did.

I then received another email with a video to watch and was instructed that a member of HR would be reaching out to me via phone.

I began researching the company name, and phone numbers which brought me to a complaint filed November 2023 for a similar scenario.

This complaint was filed by an individual that had used Indeed employment services as well.

I haven’t received the “interview” call back as of this writing, but it’s only been 15 minutes since I received the last email.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a concerning incident involving a staffing firm that reached out to me under the guise of a job opportunity. The interaction appears to have been a fraudulent attempt to collect my personal information. Below are the details of the incident: 1. Initial Contact On September 16, 2024, I was contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn, claiming to represent a staffing firm, KeenLogic. The recruiter informed me that they had a full-time, long-term Resource and Financial Analyst position available with the House of Representatives. After reviewing my profile, they suggested I would be an ideal fit for the role and mentioned that only a brief pre-screening call was required to move forward. 2. Recruitment Process After expressing my interest, the recruiter provided a job description and requested that I submit my resume and suggest a few available times for a pre-screening call. I inquired about the timeline for hiring and whether the position was confirmed as open. The recruiter confirmed that the role was actively hiring, with an anticipated start date in early to mid-October. 3. Mismanagement of Personal Information Immediately after submitting my resume, I was informed that the position was no longer open. Concerned about how my personal information was being handled, I asked the recruiter to confirm the deletion of my data if the role was no longer available. However, during our communication, the recruiter mistakenly sent me another individual's resume. This breach of privacy not only violated data protection protocols but also raised serious concerns about the legitimacy of their recruitment process. 4. Discovery of Fraudulent Intent Given the inconsistencies and privacy breach, I conducted further research and attempted to reach out directly to the company that was supposedly hiring for this position. Unfortunately, my inquiries went unanswered, further solidifying my suspicion that the job posting was fabricated. Upon confronting the recruiter about the conflicting information and privacy concerns, they abruptly blocked me on LinkedIn. This action, combined with the lack of response from the alleged employer, leads me to believe that the entire interaction was a scam designed to collect personal information under false pretenses. 5. Request for Investigation I am deeply concerned that my personal information may have been collected and potentially misused by this staffing firm. I am reporting this incident to request a formal investigation into the practices of this recruiter and their firm. I believe this behavior is unethical, unprofessional, and possibly illegal. I would appreciate any assistance the ScamPulse.com can provide in investigating this matter. Additionally, I am requesting that this company be held accountable for their deceptive practices and misuse of personal information. Thank you for your attention to this serious issue. Please let me know if any additional information is needed to assist in your investigation.

A Mr. Stephen Henderson reached out to me about a QA Engineering position with a company called MasTec Inc. First he said they were finalizing there list of candidates and wanted to know if I was still interested. In the next email he had told me that I had been selected to move forward and sent me a questionnaire .pdf to fill out. I filled out the .pdf (which seemed odd) sent it back to him. About three days later he emailed me and told me that they were making me a full time offer of $70 per hour and that my official offer letter would be emailed shortly, official offer letter arrived about 40mins later, written on company letter head, everything looked correct until you got down to the second page where it said that I would need to purchase specific equipment for the role and after 16 weeks of continuous employment I was going to get to keep the equipment. My official start date was to be the 12Nov 24, I signed the offer, and about a hour later a digital check was emailed to me to deposit into my account, "MasTec was paying for me, to order all the equipment, a Mac book Pro, 24' Apple Monitor, printer, etc. so I called the bank, the routing number and account number was correct however the name on the check vs the name on the account was different. So I deposited it into my savings account, and informed Stephen that I had done that and that the bank had put a hold on the funds till the 5th of Nov and he said that when the bank cleared it, I was going to need to send a Venmo payment to their approved vender in order to get the equipment. Since telling him this, I have not heard anything more from him, I have tried to call him and email him, and the as of today the funds were sent back to the bank.

I have even reached out to MasTec thru their website to verify any of this information and have never received a response from them, I have tried calling them, emailing even reaching out to current employees on linkdein, no responses from anyone as of this complaint.
