I received a call telling me there was $700 plus charged on my amazon account. He asked did I authorize this charge? I said not at all. I was then transferred to a foreign individual a man who I questioned him regarding being a scammer. He said no, for me to treat him as my son. After this call involved over an hour and much more conversation, I was told I needed to go to Walmart and get an apple gift card using the 200$ that he had just put into my bank account(without thinking I hadn't given him my account number) So I went to Walmart and since I was in there longer, he specified I needed to buy 2 gift cards for 200$ each. He wouldn't let me get just one gift card for 400$. When I got outside, he wanted me to get away from everyone and he said don't get on the bus, and call him. I did that. He said he wanted me to clear off the back of both cards and then read those numbers to him. That's when I told him he was a low-life scammer. He called me with the intent to scam me, but the jokes on him, I have the cards, money, and his stupidity. I told him he just got scammed by me. I said I was calling the police right now and hung up the phone. I came home and notified the police, who came and complimented me on being a very smart cookie. I have the gift cards and the cash register receipts locked up in my safe. Today I called the Attorney Generals Office and they are sending me a complaint form to complete and send back to them.

I am disabled widow in an electric wheelchair, I live in an assisted living facility, my daughter passed away three years ago one year after my hubby's death.

This text included a "Dear customer, your purchase from Amazon for $599.99 is successful and has been kept on hold for your approval. Please call us back within 24hours on (701)-638-1558 for any dispute or we will release your item. Thank you team Amazon security." They also called and it was from North Dakota. The person who received this text does not even have their own Amazon account.

I am not sure on what their goal was, but it was weird for sure!

Our household received several phone calls on the same day, Saturday August 28, 2021. The calls started about 10 am until about 8 pm. The calls stated that we needed to push a number to talk with Amazon customer care representatives. The calls came from the same prefix of 901-357- with the last four numbers being different, such as 357-1130, 1371, 2609, 3596, 3159, 4927, 5046, 5795, 9200, and 9332. The 901-357 was previously used as the phone company's exchange number for the Frayser community in Memphis, Tn. This is also the area where I have lived. It is as if the callers think that us senior citizens will fall for and answer the calls because we recognize the prefix numbers.

Please and thank you for handling this potential scam.

The phone call is a recording. That your account is being used buy someone. And you need to talk to someone in the fraud department. Press one to reach the department. When you press one it sends you to another recording saying that the mail box is full and everyone is on another call.

I received a voice mail from someone claiming to be with Amazon. They stated that I had made a purchase of $399.99 from Amazon Market Place using my Visa card and they were calling to verify I had made this purchase. They said if I had made this purchase then no further action was needed but if I had not then I should call Amazon Customer Service at 803-721-5718. In 16 years of doing business with Amazon they have never called me to question any order so that, along with the the phone number given to call did not sound correct I assumed this was a scam. I checked my Amazon account and saw no record of any purchase for that amount of money. I then called Amazon Customer Service using a number I know to be the actual number for them. I explained the situation and asked if there was an order for $399.99 that I could not see and was told no there was none. Their representative also stated that Amazon never calls a customer to question a purchase. They said they would look into it on their end. I have recieved scam calls before but this was the first time I got one from someone claiming to be Amazon.

My elderly friend got a call from this number. They said they were from Amazon, and calling from Seattle, WA. They wanted to verify that I had purchased a computer for $300.00. She also wanted me to get in front of the computer to connect me with the accounting department to verify my purchase. I gave her a false name, she said she "found" it on the list.
