Phone rang with a recognizable area code. I answered. The voice said "Hi, this is Josh with customer service. Can you hear me ok?" I responded "yes". I kicked myself for falling for the call and hung up the phone just as they were offering vacation to Orlando, FL.

Calling and saying they are from customer service but no other details. They ask if I can hear them okay. I read that they are liking to record a yes response so I hung up. They did not call back.

Answered phone with silence, then got the "Sorry, I had trouble with my headset" told me that they saw I recently stayed at one of their resorts, and I qualified to stay in Orlando for reduced. I said no thank you but the recording kept going. I hung up.

A female voice said "Can you hear me?" as soon as the call was answered. There was nothing stated before that question. The phone number had a local area code.

- Vancouver, WA, USA

Answered the call and the person said they were having problems with their headset. Unfortunately I let her continue and although I don't think she asked if I could hear her, I'm not sure now. I kept saying no thanks and finally hung up. She was offering me a free trip to some resort. Now I'm worried.

Said "hey this Josh from customer service. Can you hear me alright!"

- Hilliard, OH, USA

I got a call from a man with an accent, in a room that echoed. He asked, "can you hear me" rather quickly as I answered the phone. I didn't know who it was, so I answered with "hello?" and he replied with, "can you hear me?" I said "hello" again, and he, again, asked "can you hear me?" I ended the call after that.

- Royal Oak, MI, USA

Real sounding voice asked if I could hear her. Just found out this type of call is a scam.

When I answer the phone it's silent so I know not to say anything but I get a daily phone call from this number. It's very annoying since I'm on the Do Not Call List. When I see the number on my phone I'll pick up the receiver & hang up without saying a word.

- Des Moines, IA, USA

I received a call from this number on Thursday January 26th, 2017 at 5:54pm. I said Hello, and a young woman said, "Can you hear me?" I said Yes, she then asked if I prefer Walmart or Target gift cards for $200.00. She asked this over and over, I kept asking her, what is this for and who are you? She would never answer my questions, just kept asking me my preference of gift card, I hung up on her. Then I heard about the 'can you hear me' phone scam going around on the news last night. Pretty sure this was that scam. Thank you

- Furlong, PA, USA

The above phone number called my cell phone and tried to get me to say "yes" to numerous questions. This occured on 1/28/2017 at 7:00PM EST.

- Waterford, MI, USA

It appears they ask that question to get you to say yes, record your response, and use it to authorize unwanted charges. I hun gup after saying yes, but they fore they could finish the redording.

- New Orleans, LA, USA

Did not answer call. Message was a proported offer for a free business app. No company name. "Press 1 to accept offer. Press 2 to stop receiving these notifications." Local TV station sent message about pushing buttons, which I would never do anyway.

- Sherwood, OR, USA

I was called on my cell phone and the recording began with asking me a question do I'd answer "yes". They were talking about "the warranty that was expiring". It never said for what product, so I hung up immediately.

- Chehalis, WA, USA

Just saw there was a new scam going around and thought i should report the number that called me today. they said their phone was messing up and asked can you hear me. It was a ladies voice and they did a good job covering up that it was a recording.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with my accounts yet but who knows....
