The lady said she was from the US government and that because I was a good citizen I was being giving $7.900 that I did not have to pay back. I asked several questions like what information is she going to need, that this doesn't sound right and why would they do that. She kept pushing for me to just say how I wanted my money in form of money order, bank deposit or credit card, I finally said money order, she then gave me an authorization # to pick up the money, and then gave me a phone # 929-244-4200 to call to verify my authorization # and to let them know where I wanted to pick up my money, either a Walmart or western union. She then asked me how I would spend my free money, and that was it... I called the ScamPulse.com then and she told me which I knew was a scam.. And asked me to fill this out. I hope it helps!

I received a phone call stating that I was randomnly chosen by the US government to receive a $7900 federal grant to be wired to me tomorrow. She wanted to verify my information and she had the spelling of my last name wrong which was a red flag. I was supposed to call a number to have the money wired to me tomorrow, but I looked on ScamPulse.com and saw all the people getting scammed, so I will not call the number.

I received a call about 6 weeks ago from a Lady by the name of Maria Wilson from the United States Government Treasury department stating that i was chosen to receive a once in a life time Grant because i paid my taxes on time and didn't have any felonies. All i had to do was them 250.00 to register my name in the government database. Once they received it and processed it, not only would I get my 7000$ grant but my 250$ fee as well. I then told her k wouldn't have the money to the first of the month and she said to just call back when i had it. I was instructed to call, Maria Wilson at 315-221-3329 ex 107 and give them my grant approval reference number that was CH4019. I then told her that to please keep in mind, I am going through chemotherapy and don't even make enough on disability to eat everyday. I told her that if this was a scam, please keep in mind that 250$ is a VERY large amount of money to me. She assured me she would never do something so cruel. Once the first arrived, i called her back, told her i had the money and that i was still so scared. she reassured me she was not that kind of person. She asked how I would like to receive my money; cash, check, or direct deposit. I told her i wanted cash; i was not about to give her my bank account numbers nor wait for a check in the mail. She then instructed me to go to Walgreen's western union when i started to get more nervous. She said she would remain on the line with me until the money is in my hand. however the further the conversation went she started to pretend to lose service. When i got to the western union kiosk, she had me type in my info for sender and for receiver, Not only was it not the US GOVERNMENT, NOT IN NEW YORK, NOT EVEN MARIA WILSON she said the receiver would be a "Jaime Ruiz" in Miami Florida. I told her this was beginning to sound like a horrible scan and my health couldn't take such a blow. She became irate and said I WAS WASTING HER TIME AND TO SEND THE MONEY NOW OR THEY WOULD SEND THE US MARSHALLS TO ARREST ME. Being so scared, already weakened from chemo, and desperately needing the 7000 for continued medical bills, I fell for it.

After trying to get more information, and telling them I wasn't interested, the representative started swearing at me, telling me I was wasting his time.

An Asian female called me and advised that I have been awarded a grant from the government because I have not been in any trouble and have a clean background record. The grant is for $7000. I have to call this phone number 202-754-2819 and speak to Jack. The phone number on the caller ID was 202-595-1426. I told the caller that this was a scam and I will report them. I hung up and called the phone number and asked for Jack, the man answering the phone said he was not Jack. was asked to choose what way I want to receive the money, direct deposit, debit card or western union. She then asked if I could go to the nearest Walmart. I have experienced this message before and was asked to purchase a green dot card so I felt sure that this was the same scam and hung up.
