- Norwich, CT, USA

Called and asked if I voted in the last election and my name then hung up.

- Mount Vernon, MO, USA

Caller asked if I could hear her then offered a vacation package deal. I realized that I should not have said "yes" as it could be used to authorize other charges and tried to get her to give me the name of the company. I could not understand her answer and told her repeatedly I was not interested. She eventually hung up.

My cell phone rang with a number I did not recognize, I answered it and a woman said hello, hello.. When I answered yes, the line hung up. I redialed the number immediately and the recorded message states the number is no longer in service. Concerned about the recent scams where your voice is recorded saying yes to use in scams.

The caller said she was having a problem with her headset, sounded like a recording, but they got me to say yes.

"Is the Head Of Household There". Caller was a Male Voice, Sounded Middle Aged White Male. Ask question, "Is the Head Of Household There". Number appears on display which is NC Charlotte Area Phone number. After answering "Yes", caller hangs up.

We have been hearing in the news about people calling and the first thing they say is "Can you hear me?". After saying "yes" the scammer will use the person's recorded "yes" answer to do fraudulent activities (open accounts, deplete bank accounts, etc.). On the morning of February 7, 2017 at 10:12 am, I received a call on my cell phone. The person said to me, "This is Josh from customer service. Can you hear me?" I immediately hung up, and this person did not call back.

- Carthage, NC, USA

Say yes scam

- Albuquerque, NM, USA

On the evening of February 13, 2017 at 5:58 pm the phone rang and I answered it. the person at the other end asked, "Can you hear me?" I replied, "yes" and then she proceeded to indicate that my husband and I had stayed at their resort and apparently was trying to sell a vacation at a resort. (My husband and I have never been to a resort and I knew then it must have been a scam). I, then, quickly hung up the phone.

I didn't find out about this scam until today when I heard people talking about it.

- Appleton City, MO, USA

automated call said this is Jason, can you hear me ok?

- Seattle, WA, USA

I was asked if they can hear me. I said 'yes.'

Voice of woman fumbling with a headset that asks if you can hear her and then continues on to tell you about a discounted trip you qualify for because you once stayed in a resort. After a few seconds it becomes apparent that it is a recording. I have not yet lost any money, or funds, or am aware of how the scam works. Caller ID indicates that the phone number is coming from Seattle.

- Marinette, WI, USA

They kept talking really fast, could not understand them. I said okay who is this they hung up.

Can you hear me scam. Wants you to respond with a yes..or yeah. Presented as customer support from...muffled.."can you hear me?" Rambles on about being pre-selected wanting a few responses..Ask if you have debit or credit card? It is hard to tell from the beginning of the call but this a recorded message.

I received a call asking if I was interested in extending my vehicle warranty, when I said yes another question was asked to answer Yes then the caller hung up. I've reported this to the Ohio attorney general office since i've learned caller want people to say yes.

- Pompano Beach, FL, USA

Recording. Asked whether I could hear the caller.

- Isanti, MN, USA

"Denise" called my place of employment several times. I called back 8554146233 in order to stop calling so I would not get fired but she refused to give me any information on my "debt" without me giving her my social security #. She would not look me up by name, or phone number. She kept insisting that I needed to give her my social security number. I refused.

Caller asked for me by name. I stated not available, could I take a message. She began to claim that she was calling because someone was trying to sue me in small claims court. I asked what state. She said Arizona. I again asked if I could take a message. She asked that the attorney's office be called and to use a specific claim number. Before getting the phone number and claim number I hung up. I disconnected because she wouldn't identify a law office and I know that notification of a matter in small claims court is handled via mail/server, etc. Sorry I couldn't get more information, but I was taken back by the call, by hearing "someone is suing you."

- Melbourne, FL, USA

Called, could barely hear him, he asked if this was my phone number and I said yes. He then started to say something about a vacation. He was foreign. I then hung up.
