Caller pretended to sell back brace to 80 year old man. He gave them his Medicare number which is his Social Security number. He denied the purchase when he discovered how much the brace would cost his Medicare. When I, his daughter discovered that he had given out his Social Security Number I called the phone number that had called him and they would not give me the company name. They hung up on me twice. They told me that they were not allowed to give out the company name. They refuse to talk to me and the call goes straight to a voice mailbox that is full.

Caller said I had been selected after staying at one of their resorts in the past.....I haven't been to any resorts in MANY years. I hung up.

They call and never leave messages. It's a recording of a female that states either "Can you hear me?" or "Are you there?" then there is a pause and then she goes into a line about winning a cruise/trip of some kind. A couple of weeks ago I received the first call and stupidly said "yes" on the phone. A few days later my credit card had been hacked and was used in Mexico, where I have never been. I don't know if those are related but the timing is certainly suspicious.

Headset malfunction asking for "Yes" confirmation.

I receive an average of one phone call a day from someone with an Indian accent and American name who is calling to say they have noticed I'm having a problem with my computer and they are offering tech support. My computer is in storage and my husbands computer is very specialized and never uses the web. We have a couple of IPads. I have threatened legal action and accused them of being a scam, all to no avail. I immediately hang up now as soon as I recognize who they are. From now on I will not answer the phone when I see" out of the area"shown or a persons name I do not recognize. Maybe they will stop calling.

I received one of those "Can you hear me?" phone call scams, in which the scammer tries to get a recording of your voice saying "yes." It showed up as a local number so I answered thinking it might be my accountant. Luckily I heard of this on the news and hung up right away. I saw an article saying I should report this to the BBB.

Over the past few weeks grandfather was contacted by someone from 917-563-2384 and was on the phone for a long time. Today, he was rushed to the hospital due to his diabetes and he would not give up the phone. He kept getting calls and saying "give me my funds." We thought this was odd and after doing some checking it looks like he has given someone most of his money. We found out that my grandfather asked my sister to drive him to the bank and to FedEx and told her not to tell anyone. I got his phone and found the number and called it. When I asked what business this was he said it was the FBI & his name was Jacob Wright. I asked where he was located and he said in Chicago. When I asked for the address he said he would only give me the location when I got into Illinois. I was back at the house when the landline rang and it was the same person, but this time his name was John Green. We are trying to figure out how much was lost and who these people are.
