I received a phone call from a local area code. A woman's voice said "Hello." I said "Hello." She laughed and said "Hello" again, then "Sorry, I was having trouble with my headset." She proceeded to tell me that she was calling because I had stayed at one of their (did not specify whose) resorts in the past. She said that she was offering me an all-inclusive vacation package to Orlando Florida. She mentioned paying for all my meals and a cruise. Then she asked if she could first ask me a few questions. I responded with exactly this, "First, can you tell me which resort of yours I stayed in?" She said, "Sorry, I did not understand you. Can I ask you a few questions?" I realized she was pre-recorded and trying to get me to say yes. I repeated my question, which she ignored. She said, "Can I ask you a few questions?" I said, "No." Then the caller hung up.

Received a call on my cell phone with the local area code. When I answered a man said this is Jeff and have won tickets to...At that point he asked if I could hear him.

I said no and hung up.

- Collierville, TN, USA

Pretty sure it was the scam where they ask "can you hear me?" becasue the whole thing was a recording. Even the part where they said, can you hear me.

- Lafayette, LA, USA

At 12:20 pm, on 03-01-17, I received a call (on my cell phone) asking if I was familiar with Publishers Clearing House. I said that I was. He told me that i had won $750,000 & a new F 150 pickup truck. He asked if I was aware of that. I said, "No. I'm still waiting for you to say something to convince me that this is not a scam." He then asked me if I was close to Lake Charles. I said, "If you don't know where I live, then you're probably calling from outside the country." He said, "Why would you say that?" Then, he called me a name, like Poppycock, & the call ended.

A man copied a legitimate rental that our property management office had listed. He changed the wording slightly, changed the photos, lowered the rent amount by $1,000, but used the real address that was available. We had 3 interested tenants call us after they had given this unknown individual extensive personal information, one even almost mailed the man a deposit.

- Nampa, ID, USA

I received a call from someone from the above number. She said that she was setting up a time to install motion sensors in my bedroom and bathroom to monitor my activity. She said that my doctor ordered it and it was approved by my True Blue insurance and that Brian from True Blue should have already gotten in touch with me regarding this. I am disabled and I do have True Blue Insurance, but no one has ever contacted me about this nor would I ever allow this to take place. I contacted True Blue but they no nothing about this. I immediately hung up.

I run a small museum. We just received a very suspicious call from a phone number that came up as a Las Vegas NV number (702-466-1550). They asked to speak to the business owner. I replied that I was the museum coordinator and we were owned by a historical society. Please note that many legitimate salesmen will ask to speak to the business owner when calling us so I was not yet put on high alert.

They then asked two more common questions but then immediately hung up with a "thank you" the moment I said the word yes. Those questions were: Is your address xxxx? Is your phone number xxxxxxxxx?

As a museum with a publicly available phone number we are often targeted by various scam emails and I have done some research into the various scam types circulating. This phone call seems likely to be something similar to the scam detailed in this article. http://www.omaha.com/money/this-phone-scam-just-needs-you-to-say-yes-hang/articl... />
Noticing the similarities immediately, I regret even responding to them at all.

- Houma, LA, USA

When you answer, the caller says your first name only. If you say yes, the caller then hangs up. No information given except a phone number on your caller ID. If you call the number back, it only gives you an option of 2 to remove yourself from the list.

- Seattle, WA, USA

I received a phone call and the voice on the other end was a robotic female which proceeded to congratulate me on winning a sweepstakes vacation as I had, according to them, stayed at a vacation property which qualified me for the reward. After I asked which property qualified me and what was the name of the company that was calling me, I was met with various pre-recorded, customized, but nonetheless vague responses. Eventually I was asked if I was under the age of 70 but over the age of 18. I answered yes to this question. After that, there were no further questions and the I got disconnected. Looking this up online it seems I likely was the victim of an ongoing phone scam trying to get callers to say yes on the phone.

Although I have not lost money at this point, I might in the upcoming future. I will continue to carefully monitor my financial accounts for any possible sign of fraudulent or unauthorized charges.

- Springfield, TN, USA
