The caller said she was having a problem with her headset, sounded like a recording, but they got me to say yes.

- Mount Vernon, MO, USA

Caller asked if I could hear her then offered a vacation package deal. I realized that I should not have said "yes" as it could be used to authorize other charges and tried to get her to give me the name of the company. I could not understand her answer and told her repeatedly I was not interested. She eventually hung up.

I redialed the number immediately and the recorded message states the number is no longer in service. Concerned about the recent scams where your voice is recorded saying yes to use in scams.

We have been hearing in the news about people calling and the first thing they say is "Can you hear me?". After saying "yes" the scammer will use the person's recorded "yes" answer to do fraudulent activities (open accounts, deplete bank accounts, etc.). On the morning of February 7, 2017 at 10:12 am, I received a call on my cell phone. The person said to me, "This is Josh from customer service. Can you hear me?" I immediately hung up, and this person did not call back.

- Albuquerque, NM, USA

On the evening of February 13, 2017 at 5:58 pm the phone rang and I answered it. the person at the other end asked, "Can you hear me?" I replied, "yes" and then she proceeded to indicate that my husband and I had stayed at their resort and apparently was trying to sell a vacation at a resort. (My husband and I have never been to a resort and I knew then it must have been a scam). I, then, quickly hung up the phone.

I didn't find out about this scam until today when I heard people talking about it.

automated call said this is Jason, can you hear me ok?

- Seattle, WA, USA

I was asked if they can hear me. I said 'yes.'

Voice of woman fumbling with a headset that asks if you can hear her and then continues on to tell you about a discounted trip you qualify for because you once stayed in a resort. After a few seconds it becomes apparent that it is a recording. I have not yet lost any money, or funds, or am aware of how the scam works. Caller ID indicates that the phone number is coming from Seattle.

- Marinette, WI, USA

"Denise" called my place of employment several times. I called back 8554146233 in order to stop calling so I would not get fired but she refused to give me any information on my "debt" without me giving her my social security #. She would not look me up by name, or phone number. She kept insisting that I needed to give her my social security number. I refused.

Can you hear me scam. Wants you to respond with a yes..or yeah. Presented as customer support from...muffled.."can you hear me?" Rambles on about being pre-selected wanting a few responses..Ask if you have debit or credit card? It is hard to tell from the beginning of the call but this a recorded message.

I received a call asking if I was interested in extending my vehicle warranty, when I said yes another question was asked to answer Yes then the caller hung up. I've reported this to the Ohio attorney general office since i've learned caller want people to say yes.

Recording. Asked whether I could hear the caller.

- Manassas, VA, USA

This person has called me roughly 5 times trying to get me to say "yes" to a question. In particular, he keeps asking if "Maurice" is there? Or "is this Maurice?"

Caller pretended to sell back brace to 80 year old man. He gave them his Medicare number which is his Social Security number. He denied the purchase when he discovered how much the brace would cost his Medicare. When I, his daughter discovered that he had given out his Social Security Number I called the phone number that had called him and they would not give me the company name. They hung up on me twice. They told me that they were not allowed to give out the company name. They refuse to talk to me and the call goes straight to a voice mailbox that is full.
