Answered phone, person asked if I was (name usually mispronounced) as soon as I said yes call was terminated by caller.

- Memphis, TN, USA

Got a call from above number asking if I would like to see if I qualified for a lower rate on my cable and internet. I told the person "Maybe". I also asked what company she was with and she continued on telling me about how I had to qualify and if I wanted to go forward with my personal information to which I replied " Ok, but what company are you with?" Again and the caller hung up.

- Ozark, MO, USA

At 3:31 PM I received a call saying the credit card of Chris Burkets?????? was denied for a appliance service call and wanted my credit card as payment. They understood this person was working at this address.

We will have a person with a very similar address working, hopefully, to lay tile in the near future.

The phone call was from 417-581-4324.

My credit card is from out of state 712-229-20XX, although we have been living in Ozark for 1.75 years.

The company has called multiple times with a robo-caller. Tries to inform you that you have a free trip or a reduced price trip for staying at one of their hotels (sometimes Marriott, sometimes no company mentioned). Tries to get you to say "Yes" during the call.

- Raleigh, NC, USA

I was contacted by a number represented as Chicago, IL (312-809-5945) at 10:11am on 3/20/17 and the caller indicated they had a travel deal for me. I have done travel deals with the hotel chain vacation clubs in the past and assumed this was similar. They asked three qualification questions to which I responded "yes". After the qualification questions, they asked for permission to transfer me to a sales associate to book the trip, I responded "sure" but then asked what Company was being represented. I got no response and then hung up. I've looked up this number and it does not appear to be a legitimate number. I am concerned this is one of the "Can you hear me" scams where they record your voice saying "yes" and later use it to authorize payments or charges to your phone bill. I would like this to represent a record that I never authorized any payment or transaction to my phone or any other means through a phone call and never would.

this person said that I was being sued by the IRS and to call them at 213 292 9765 to get more detail on the law suit. I did not return their call just report it to you and maybe you can call this number and find out more about these scam artists. I know that IRS do not call and harass people on the phone. The IRS will send you a letter if need be in the US Mail.

Received a call on 3-17-17, caller identified himself as Joe Ball and said he was calling on a recorded line could I hear him? Immediately said yes and hung up. I do not have called ID and no company name was mentioned. Could be yes scam

- Hamilton, OH, USA

Caller has called numerous times. Asking "Can you hear me?" Received another call where the caller said her headset was not working. I did speak with her, but I can't remember if I ever answered yes with this particular call. Now I am very worried. I did not answer yes today. I just hung up.

- Derby, KS, USA

Lady said hello can you hear me? I was aware of this scam so I said no. Please remove my name from your list.

- Pleasant Mount, PA, USA

I received a prerecorded call from 469-701-0053 asking to answer a yes or no question if I personally voted in the last election. The recorded voice then coughed a few times and asked me to repeat my answer. After I said yes twice I realized it was likely a scam and said no and hung up.

Waiting to see what they will try to scam me with.

- Littleton, CO, USA

I was hit by the scam where I answered, the caller didn't say anything, then said "oh, hello?" and I impatiently answered "yes?" and she said "Oh, sorry, I was having trouble with my headset. This is Emily, etc., etc., etc." So they now have my recorded consent which I actually did not give. I do not know what sort of charges or to what account(s) this is going to result in.

- Bothell, WA, USA

It was a call to my cell phone. The area code was a local area code so I answered it thinking it was someone I knew and they they called me by name "is this ***" and so I said "yes" and then they hung up. It appears to be the "can you hear me" scam; getting you to say "yes". It's too soon to know if this is going to cost me. I called my bank and they said I should be ok because a person can't access your account just by saying "yes". I called my mobile carrier letting them know what happened and they said I should be ok also. Base on the comments made from other websites, I'll need to keep continuously check my charge card accounts. I already have alerts on all my cc accounts so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing bad will become of this.

- Columbus, OH, USA

Someone called me and I believe it to be a recording, similar to the "Can you hear me?" phising scams.

The woman (now I think a recording) said the follow:

Me: "Hello?"

Woman: "Hello?" *long pause*

Me: "Yea?"

Woman: "Sorry about that, I was having problems with my headset. I see that you stayed at one of our resorts recently, and you qualify for 75% off..."

By then I hung up. I sensed it was a scam or telemarketer.

I have not been charged for anything yet, but I will be checking regularly.

- Angola, IN, USA

Tricked wife into saying yes, when sain can you hear me.

Inquired about yorkie puppies. "Breeder" could not identify neighboring towns or the county in Maryland where he is supposedly located. He got off the phone to "take another call" when challenged that his business was not legitimate

A prerecorded woman attempting to sound real saying you have won a cruise and need to transfer you to another department and she needs you to say yes to the the transfer. The whole message was left in voice mail so clearly not a real person despite the attempt in trying to make the call sound real. The call wa places to my place of business but was not directed at the business.

- Omaha, NE, USA

Called my work, was transferred by the receptionist. Caller asked " is this (my name)?" Responded "yes," and caller hung up.

- Marrero, LA, USA

Scammer said that I was picked to receive a grant from the U.S. Treasury for $5000.00. Then I was told that I was picked because I pay my bills, have not committed a crime in the past 6 months. I was asked how I wanted to receive this money: Cash, deposited directly into my bank account, or in a debit card form, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Western Union. I said, Walmart. They then gave me an ID # and this phone # to call 206-596-0729. I was to spend the money on bills, home improvement, ect. I was not to spend the money on anything illegal. I never called. They knew my name, phone #, and address. I had several missed calls from their number, (510)246-8283 on Tuesday, March 14th and then I finally answered and was instructed accordingly. - I figured if this was real, just send me the check since they had my mailing address.

- Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Caller said they were with customer service, asked if I could hear them, i relexively answered yes, they launched into a sweepstakes talk and I hung up. Only them remembered news reports about yes scams, called number back, got a recording about the offer having expired.

- Lakewood, OH, USA

Caller said "can you hear me?" He left a message on our voicemail.
