A female voice said hello and then paused to say she had a problem

With her headset. She asked me something and I said yes. She continue to speak about 75% off a cruise. I realized at this point that I was being scammed and hung up the phone.

Person with Indian accent asked on a static filled line if I could hear him. I said yes, than he goes on to say I am having problems with my computer. I said don't not call back and hung up on the man. But then my husband reminded me of the story the other day on The news of a scam where they get you to say yes then have permission to add bogus charges to various accounts. I don't know what to do know. Please advise

- Russellville, AL, USA

Received a voice mail from someone in Vashon WA claiming to represent the IRS and threatening me with arrest for tax fraud .

I do not know how to send a copy off a voicemail. Sorry.

I received a phone call at 1107 on 2/24/17 from a woman claiming to be named "Brooke." She stated that she was recording this call and asked "Can you hear me?" I answered "Yes." Immediately, I realized that this is the scam I have heard about on the news and immediately hung up.

- Washington, DC, USA

Caller with apparent East-Indian accent prompted me to say "yes" to receive some free promotion. She had my business email address and phone number.

- Hot Springs National Park, AR, USA

I was contacted by phone at 10:00 am on February 24, 2017 by the phone number above.. (501-313-0259) My phone says it was a Little Rock, AR number. When I answered it originally sounded like a real person saying her name was Katie (I think, not for sure on name) and that she was adjusting her headset when I said Hello for the second time. Then her spill went on to say they were contacting me based on information received from a drawing/prize type of entry. She said I'd get 75% off of a trip to Orlando, FL some other location in Florida, rental car, and then a 2 day cruise to the Bahamas. Once her speech was over, and at this time I believe it was all a recording, she says can I connect you to someone to take more information or something to that extent. My response was "We are not interested, no thank you." I then hung up the phone. I believe this phone call was a scam.

- Lyons, OR, USA

This was a call as seen in reports about yes responses

- Salt Lake City, UT, USA

Said hello, can you hear me. I responded yes, then immediately yelled no, no, no, no, no and hung up. They were saying something about a survey for free tickets while I was yelling no. It was a recording.

- Mason, OH, USA

Call my office phone and mumbled and I thought they asked if this was (my name). I said yes. Then said adjusting headset and then I hung up. I am getting calls like this daily so now I know how to report the numbers when I find them on caller id

- Lascassas, TN, USA

Lady called and asked can you here me. Then stated I was on vacation recently but could not tell me where. She wanted to offer another vacation. I hung up but stated yes when asked if I could hear her. I called the number back to find out what company was calling but it goes straight to automated message to state this survey is closed. This call just happened 30 minutes ago so I don't know if I am a victim of theft at this time.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

Caller asks "Can you hear me okay?" And then asks to verify information for a supposed "pre-approved, all-expense-paid" trip.

- Palatine, IL, USA

A woman called and said "Hi this is customer service, can you hear me ok?" I responded "yes" before realizing I was aware of this method, where a positive response to a natural question is recorded to use for identity theft. I then hung up after being told I was "pre-selected" for something. Thankfully I already have identity theft protection, but this should be investigated. The phone number 262-682-8051 was identified as from Muskego WI on my mobile phone, reverse lookup seems to confirm the same.

- Portsmouth, NH, USA

I use my cell phone for work. Phone rang with UNKNOWN number from Newton, MA. When I answered, the woman's voice (robo voice) asked if I could hear her okay. I said "yes" and immediately realized it was not a client of mine but rather the scam I heard about on the ABC evening news with David Muir. I immediately hung up phone but had already responded Yes to the question of whether I can hear her. I hope I did not obligate myself to anything but wanted to report the incident. It was today, Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 3:47pm eastern. Per you question below, since this just happened minutes ago, I hope I don't lose money in future. Thank you.

- Eau Claire, WI, USA

"Can you hear me okay" recording.

- Land O Lakes, WI, USA

Caller said,"This is Josh at the customer service dept. Can you hear me OK?"

I said, "Yeah, what customer service department?"

Caller then proceeded to tell me that as a preferred customer, I won a free vacation cruise..."

I said, "not interested". and hung up.

Then it dawned on me that this might be a phone phishing cam call.

- Wichita, KS, USA

I received a phone call from telephone number 1-316-221-5554 at approximately 2:20pm on February 22, 2017. I answered the phone and the person/automation said, "Can you hear me now?" As I was replying 'yes' my wife was telling me about this scam. But, it was too late.

- Barksdale Afb, LA, USA

Answered the phone and heard: "This is Emily - can you hear me?" I said, "Yes" without thinking about it. She went on to say "Great - you have won a vacation package..." When I heard that, I remembered reading about the "Can you hear me" scam that allows caller to access banking information. I immediately contacted my financial institution and made then aware of the situation.

answered phone call from 12487310122

the caller said " hi this is josh from the personal claims department, can you hear me?" I replied NO and drop dead. He replied "Okay have a good day."

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA

Asked if you could hear them and then went on to record call about a vacation opportunity. When she went to stop them there was no longer anyone on the call.

Person called my grandpa, they told him MY name and said I had gotten into a crash and was in jail for being at fault, and needed thousands of dollars. My grandpa being the loving man he is, paid the scammer $6,000 dollars, and then called me (wish he would have called first) I am fine, no crash, etc. I prevent another $4,000 dollars from being sent out. The person claimed to be an attorney.
