When I answered the call I heard "Hi this is Josh, can you hear me?" When I quickly realized what was going on I replied "no". When I heard another recorded response I immediately hung up.

I Received a Phone Call at approximately 11:30am on 2/11/17 from an unknown company from an unknown number. The person on the phone introduced their self and asked if I could here them okay. I said yes and they hung up. I was on the other line when the called in and I do not have caller ID call waiting and this is why I don't know the number that the call came from.

This woman called and said she was collecting a debt from a pay day loan company. I had no such debt. She first called on a 855 203-9054 number and left a voicemail and had me call her back on another number 855 204-0155. When I played along with the scam and said I didn't have my bank account information available she told me to call her back with it later. She said I owed $480 to a payday loan company and if I didn't pay they were taking me to court and it would then be $2000. So I did call back and there was no answer. About half an hour after that she called me back on a 314 779-2178 number which was located in Kirkwood, Missouri. The first calls was registered in Florida. I then knew it was for sure a scam.

My wife, Ann Peterson, got a call on February 9, 2017 at 9:45am CT. Here's how the short conversation went...

Caller/Scammer: hello?

Ann: hello

Caller: hello?

Ann: yeah, I'm here

Caller: oh (friendly laughter), I'm sorry...

And then the caller went into her pitch. It was at that point (very early in the call) that Ann hung up because she realized she had said "yeah," and she remembered reading about the BBB alert of there being a new scam where callers are asking "can you hear me." This felt just like that.

Received a phone call and when answer asked if I could hear them ok...unfortunately I was in the middle of something and answered yes. Then remembered this scam and hung up. What do I need to do to protect myself? Mentioned credit cards

Called with foreign accent asking for someone else. Said was wrong number and she starts asking about life insurance. Told her this is do not call number and hung up. Called 5 times.

A call came in at 6:38pm on feb. 9, 2017. An very human sounding automated female voice said, "hello, im calling long distance, can you hear me?"

Phone ran, did not notice the phone number "0" until after I ended call. They lady said "hello" "hello" and I answered 'yes" cause that's how I answer the phone. After that I hung up immediately cause I remember I heard something on the news about the "yes" phone scam. So If figured I better report it to you.

The cal came through mt cell phone. I noticed on my message screen, this number came up several times. Wanting to investigate, I called the number and a man with an Indian accent told me they had done some servicing on my computer and something did not work on their end and wanted to give me a refund of my money I started questioning him and he said "Don't you remember me?" He told me all I had to do was get on my computer. That's when I hung up. I tried the number again later [ the one I supplied above. ] on and the message said it was out of service.

a call came in as a local ph number, so I answered. Person said their name was Brook, and this was a recorded call. Then there was some type of interruption/noise on line then called said, "can you hear me"?

When I answered "yes" a second later caller hung up. I called back the number several times and got busy signal, then a recorded message stating this was"Customer service now" could be reached on line at

customer service [email protected] which got me know where.

I was waiting on a call from a doctor when this number appeared, I answered. The person asked if I could hear them okay and I said yes. I then remembered this scam on the news and immediately hung up.

Telephone solicitation from a caller who said he represented a medical company with products and services for "people your age." He asked, "Can you hear me now?" I responded with a "Yes," immediately recalling stories that have been reported about such calls. As I tried to inquire further, the person terminated the call. I captured the phone number on my caller ID list.

They are calling me and my family members leaving msgs that they are filing charges on me for outstanding check advance loan from before 2012 but the don't have an exact date. They did have my yahoo email address (which I haven't used in years) along with my address but had old checking acct name and employer, both which haven't been used in many years. I've never taken out an online check advance loan but they told me they can prove it with the IP address I used. I asked them to send me proof and they said ok but haven seen anything yet.
