- Stamford, CT, USA

Claimed I owe IRS $ and if I don't respond an arrest warrant will be issued for me

A CPA does my taxes and my brother in law who is also a CPA told me and his clients IRS will never call. It's all done by mail and never threaten to arrest on first contact

- Spokane, WA, USA

Received a call, answered it, had an automated recording, saying the internal revenue service has a lawsuit against me and an arest warent out for me and ignition don't want any actions taken against me to contact (202)-370-6436 immediately.

I.r.s will never call or show up.

They will send u a letter through portal services to have you contact them.

We received an automated call directing us to call a number to resolve a legal action against us. We know for certain that we are not in arrears to the IRS or any other institution.

- Spokane, WA, USA

Received phone call.  Says there are 4 problems with my IRS stuff.  Automated call that I received.  They said to call back right away.  253-289-1830.  Stating that the cops would be here right away to pick me up.  Female voice no accent.

Yup these turds are crafty. Heard about this on FaceBook a while back. The number they called me on was 773-423-2800. They say: "This is the IRS...you owe back taxes (from 2010-2016) and the Sheriff is on his way to arrest you until we get this situation resolved!" Most of the time they scam older people who don't know what's ** and what's not. PLEASE pass this information on to them too. Weird, that they knew where I lived though.

Guess most of the time they want you to buy Walmart, Target, or whatever gift cards to tell them the numbers on the back so they can try to get your money that way (I heard anyway). The IRS wouldn't ever have anyone buy GCs to pay off a debt.

Sad we can't somehow track them and send a missile to that location. Sorry, I guess, just really dislike those who prey on others.

A guy saying he was named Alex saying he was chief officer said he was going to arrest me within an hour if I didn't pay 100 dollars or more. Said I have been filing taxes from for 5 years, ignored letters sent to me, and that I committed fraud. Tried to scare me to paying 100 or more dollars.

I received a call from think number. Stating that I have 4 federal charges against me

- Kingman, AZ, USA

ScamPulse.com received a call from a consumer reporting she got a call from the IRS. They told her she owed $5,027 for back taxes from 2011-2016 and if she did not pay in 47 minutes the sheriff would come to arrest her. She gave them her home address and the last 4 digits of her social security number and then realized it was a scam and hung up the phone.

Reported by a resident in our retirement community:  IRS imposter called.

Received a call from this number and the person said they were with the IRS and going to sue me. Hung up on them and when I called them back, the same person answered and said they were with the IRS. When questioning them, they hung up on me.

I was called by a man, whose name i couldn't understand, that said i owed money to IRS. That i needed $1600 or they would send the sheriff to come pick me up to arrest me

I was told a warrant for my arrest was issued by the IRS and I needed to call asap to resolve.

The funny thing is, they called my work phone number which is shared by several people, so it was evident it was a scam. I work in a retirement community and several residents have called me to share this same phone call.

- Chicago, IL, USA

Received a recorded message saying it was the IRS and that I have a warrant for my arrest. I called back the phone # 9707881202 provided and an "Office Andrew" identified himself, advising that he was part of an ongoing IRS investigation (phone number is Colorado area code) and needed to "confirm my info". He indicated that I needed to comply because "I'm running from the IRS."

- Cedar Hill, MO, USA

I received a call from this number stating that for the last five years I have not paid on my taxes correctly. They stated they will issue a warrant for my arrest and see me in court and I need to hire an attorney and could pay of 45.000 to the IRS.

- Nampa, ID, USA

They have been leaving messages and stating I will be sent to litigation if I do not respond. I called them back to find out who they were and the reprisenative identified themselves as the IRS. I informed him that the IRS does not call people and to have my number removed from his list. He said no, I told him if he does not remove my number I would call the local authorities and report them. He then agreed.....I still want this to be known to the public so they know this is happening in the area.

Thank You

- Somerset, KY, USA

they sound like someone from India

They called said they were James Anderson with badge number 7489613. He said there was going to be a non-payment arrest because I didn't file 2011-2015 taxes correctly, that I had incorrect information for the income tax. Asked him where I worked the last 5 years to try and see if they were legitimate, but he claimed I was being hostile. When I asked why I hadn't gotten any mail he switched topics, sounded exasperated and claimed he already explained and said, "As I've said, it's a non-payment arrest." They said once the call ended I'd be arrested in 15 minutes because of the 4999.59 dollars that were unpaid.
