IRS Reports & Reviews (5101)

- Roanoke, IN, USA

The caller said I owed back taxes for 2009 - 2013, and a warrant would be issued for my arrest if I did not pay. He gave me another phone number to call. I did not call the given phone number.

- Covington, LA, USA

Someone claiming to be with irs criminal division called & asked for my name for verification. He had left a number to call (503-272-6092) & gave the name Mike Ross. I gave no info whatever.

A man called my 93 year old mother, (who is bedridden) telling her she had committed tax fraud. I answered the call and said I was my mother, as my mom is naive about scams or even the real IRS. The man asked if I had a lawyer and would have to go to court. I knew it was a scam but asked him various questions because I was playing with him. (He sounded like he had an Indian accent). Becoming bored, I finally said I believed this was a scam and they were not the IRS at all. He hung up on me. The number is: (512)212-1720 The email listed below is mine, as my mother doesn't have one.

My wife received calls all day threatening to have her arrested for tax evasion and we're going to have her flown to DC to go to court.

Told IRS was filing a large lawsuit against me. This was a recording.

- Greensboro, NC, USA

Consumer received a call saying that they were the IRS and that they filing a lawsuit against her, final notice.

- Lincoln, NE, USA

I had a message on my voice mail today when I got home(it was a recording) woman saying "this is the IRS & please call us back at this number 864-720-8383 as we are filing a law suit against you. I had just received my Aging Partners qtrly. magazine & I see where the IRS was the #1 scam in 2015 & it must still be going on as I have no reason to believe that they would have any need to file against me.

Thanks

Consumer received a call from someone pretending to be with the IRS. the IRS would come to her house to arrest her.

- Lanesboro, MA, USA

Phone message by someone stating they were from the IRS and a law suit was being formulated against me. When I called the number back (385-495-7026) it was someone with a foreign accent. I told her that I knew this was a scam and that the IRS would not make a phone call in regards to something of this nature. The woman's response to all my questions was very unprofessional and she most definitely did not try to alleviate my concern about it being a scam.

I just wanted to give you all a heads up about the IRS scam that is continuing to go around. My mom just received a call from the "IRS" saying she had been fraudulent and that a police officer was coming to her house to arrest her. They even gave a officers name and badge number. And had her address. She of course was freaking out but I called the non emergency police line and they immediately said it was a scam and the FBI is researching it all over the country. I just wanted to let everyone know in case anyone else got a call or anyone showed up to their house. The police said absolutely do not answer the door for anyone and to immediately call the police if someone shows up. I did hear last week about that big IRS standoff that was a scam on the news...so seems like some of these crazies are actually trying to follow through. Everyone be careful.

I have been receiving calls from the same number for the past week. The number is (202)630-7390. They leave a voicemail saying that they are from "the tax department with the IRS and that there is a legal lawsuit against my name and an arrest warrant has been issued under my name. For more information call the same number back." I called back twice and got a voicemail. The "name" of the woman who has called me 3 times today is Kelly Watson. I finally got through and a man answered and I told him to quit calling my number that this was a scam and he said "Okay, thank you" Just beware.

Mommas! Do not answer a call from this number. If they leave you a voicemail saying the IRS has filed a lawsuit against you it is all lies, do not respond to them! They will try to convince you that you made a mistake on your taxes, that you owe an absurd amount of money, that your bank account and credit cards have been seized and someone will arrest you and you will face 5 years of federal imprisonment if you don't resolve the dispute immediately. They will offer a "initial payment and later payment plan", and tell you to send it through Walgreens or CVS, and if you don't pay it someone will be there in 39 minutes to arrest you. They are bullies and sound convincing at first, but it is all scam and money thieves! The IRS with NEVER call you! Please join me in reporting them if you have received one of these bogus, threatening and terrifying calls!

I have had 2 messages now from this number stating that I am being sued by the IRS. they left message on my machine. - caller: wireless caller

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

IRS" threatening to sue me over a tax issue. I knew it was fake, but they called me three times today alone. I finally yelled at him that they were Crooked, and that I wanted them to stop calling me.

The next thing I knew I got a phone call from another number so I answered it, and it was the same guy. He was so furious with me that he swore and yelled at me so badly that I have never had anyone speak to me like that. Such horrible profanity and threats that it was very scary. I was speechless and actually stunned for a minute. I then hung up on him, and he proceeded to call me back again and again. When I didn't answer the phone, he waited a couple of minutes and call me from yet another number and threatened to find me and rape me, among other vial things. I quit answering any number, but after that he called me a total of 81 times, even though I kept rejecting the call and refused to answer the phone.

I'm very uneasy because I know how easy it is to find out someone's address, and I feel like he may come after me. I didn't want the calls to go to voicemail, because I give my name on my messages. He didn't give me time between calls to change my voicemail, so I just kept hitting reject call. Then, while I was trying to call Sprint for help, he got through to my voicemail and now knows my name.

Sprint ultimately blocked all of the numbers that he called from, so the calls have stopped, but I don't feel confident that it is over. A couple of the numbers are local numbers, which means he is here in town.

I am posting all of the numbers that showed up on my caller ID. I highly recommend you have your provider block these numbers. These are horrible people.

The original "IRS" call was from this number: 571-527-8539. Some of the following calls showed up as from +911. Then other calls came from 719-576-3850 and 719-634-7589. As I said, he called back a total of 81 times before I could get the numbers blocked!!!!!

I sincerely hope that none of you have to go through this. It is very unnerving!

Sorry about such a long post. I just felt it was important!

I keep receiving calls from 224-256-7116 claiming to be the IRS and saying I owe $6,000.00. They can barely speak English and can't tell me what years I owe for. When you call the number back they do answer the phone as Internal Revenue.

Consumer received a call saying that they were the IRS and that they would be filing a lawsuit against her.

I received a voicemail from someone claiming to be calling from the IRS. They said we owed them money. They told me if I did not pay they would be filing a lawsuit against me. We already received our tax return, so I knew this was a scam.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

I received a phone call saying it was the final notice and the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me.

Consumer received a call saying that they were the IRS and that they would be filing a lawsuit against her.

- Empire, AL, USA

I received a phone call on my answering machine that said that it was the last contact they were going to extend to us and that the IRS was investigating us and we needed to contact them immediately. Phone #954-812-3196. I called the number and some one with a very heavy accent answered and asked did I know how much money I owed the IRS. I told him that we did not owe the IRS anything. He asked 'are you sure' and I asked what department was he representing and he said 'you called me and you don't know who you are calling'? He again asked about the money we owed the IRS and that we had better take care of it. I repeated that I owed nothing and he was not going to get a payment from me for anything. He hung up.
