- Boise, ID, USA

I received a phone call this morning stating that the individual that called was from the IRS and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. and that I needed to call them back immediately and that my house was under surveillance.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

A man called stating that I had a warrant out for my arrest due to taxes not being paid and that he was with the US government/IRS. He tried to scare me into paying but I knew better but wanted to get more information. He stated that I owed $1980, I told him I wanted to take care of it right away and he said I could pay by credit card, cash or bank routing. I told him by cash. He turned mean after that and told me to not call that number any more and proceeded to curse at me. I didn't fall for the scam but wanted to share my experience.

IRS call, I know it's a scam, they called from Florida.

IRS keeps calling and leaving messages. I just knew it was a scam, it almost happened to a relative.

- Chicago, IL, USA

Here is most of the phone message:

"This call is officially a final notice from the IRS, the Internal Revenue Service, and the reason for the call is that the IRS is pursuing a lawsuit under your name because you have tried to do a fraud with the IRS and we are taking a legal action and we are issuing an arrest warrant under your name. To get more info on this case call 301 307 1773."

- Boise, ID, USA

I received a call and they stated they were the IRS. I hung up at that point.

Have received many calls from the IRS stating that my house is being watched and I will be arrested soon. This was the latest one received on June 10.

- Rockford, IL, USA

Came home to a voice message on answering machine. A female voice stated there is an IRS Lawsuit against me/us because we attempted to commit fraud against the IRS. She said an arrest warrant would be forthcoming. She said we must call back. I did not return the call.

- Waterville, OH, USA

It is the IRS scam saying an arrest warrant has been issued for me. The call came on my cell phone and a voice mail was left. Just wanted to advise you of the phone number. No other information was given. I added the number to my auto reject list and posted notification of the call to the white pages as a high risk scam number. Since I work for a local news organization, I wanted to make others aware of the call.

- Yorkville, IL, USA

Have received about 10 calls today from number above. A recorded message tells me that the IRS is initiating a lawsuit to collect taxes and directs me to call them back.

- Greenville, SC, USA

Left message on my phone. I listened to the message and was informed that I would be sued by the IRS and needed to call them immediately......I did not call.

- Spring Grove, IL, USA

Caller supposedly from the IRS accusing me of fraudulent activities, etc. I called the number back 4 times and harrassed 4 of their "agents". I then notified the BBB of this scam call.

- Greer, SC, USA

Had taxes that was due and was going to take me to court. Called on my mobile phone, which is not a listed. Phone number is out of Texas.

- North Las Vegas, NV, USA

I received a call from this number, and of course didn't initially answer because I didn't recognize the number. They left an automated voice mail that stated, "We have just received a notification regarding your tax filings from the headquarters which will get expired in the next 24 working business hours. And once it get expired after that you will be taken into custody by the local cops. As there are 4 serious allegations pressed On your name at this moment. We would request that you get back to us so that we may discuss about this case." Now, me being kind of young and barely filing my taxes for the first time this year with my moms help, I was freaked out, until I listened to the recording a few times and realized how many grammatical errors they had. But I gave them a call anyway, just in case, and geez, they sounded like a call center, the guy over the phone claimed to be with the IRS and sounded like your stereotypical Indian fake tech support scammer. I stated "this does not sound legit at all, can you give me a badge number, my social security number, an address or anything to prove that you're legitimately with the IRS?" At which point he sounded offended and was like "what do you mean by this does not sound legit? I am with the IRS! Who is it that you wish to speak to? My manager? Human Resources department? Because the only one that can help you here is me." So I hung up. I'm completely positive now that that was a scam.
