The problem is that, in order to receive my profits, I needed to pay additional taxes and fees, and also make unplanned deposits. Payments were made either with bitcoin that I purchased myself or, when having unnecessary funds, I could use my credit card to purchase gift cards and send her pictures of them; she would then somehow convert them into bitcoin.
For the past several months she has consistently kept me up to date on the status of my investment, but at the same time making sure that it is a pre-requisite for me to make more payments before I can receive my money. No matter how much and how quickly I pay, there's always one more fee.
As of right now, she claims I owe in excess of US$5,000 and, as soon as I pay it, I should receive my money back.
Looking in retrospective, I realize I've been victim of a scam. Paying with bitcoin and with gift cards is a safe way to collect my money without leaving any traces behind.
