He started out by asking my store's business hours. Then he complimented my voice, I guess so I'd say "thank you". Then he kept asking if his background was too loud, maybe looking for me to say "no" or "it's fine" or something. That's when I hung up.

I am selling a car on craigs list and got a phone call from the above number. I did not answer, and later received a text requesting that I purchase a vin report from the website http://vinncheckpremium.com. said he was looking forward to purchasing my car, had been looking at that model car for years, but had to have a vin report check from that particular website. after looking up the website online, it looks like this is common scam to get your credit card number. i did not purchase a report.

I received a phone call and when I said "Hello", the man on the other end of the line said "Is this (my first name)" and I replied, "Yes, it is". The line then went out and when I tried to call the line back, it came up as a local business phone number for Olin Brass employees. I checked with their corporate number of *** and was told it was not a valid extension and was probably a scam. Also concerning is that my home phone number is an unlisted phone number.

I don't know where this originated but the voices (I've gotten 3 calls) have been both male/female with U.S.A. (midwest) accents. They inform me that my 'computer company' is going out of business & I should call a certain phone number to 'collect my refund'. At the end of the call they mention Windows & Microsoft. I DOUBT VERY MUCH THAT MICROSOFT IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS! 'Computer company' is a vague term. I sincerely doubt a 'refund' of money will be forthcoming; rather they'll want my bank account number to 'transfer' the 'refund' to me. Fat chance! I have hung up without going any further with them.

Robo call. Tried to call back and they didn’t pick up. Tried again and the phone “refused” the call. Voicemail was left saying my federal tax id and myself was under investigation including my family. That the government is filing a lawsuit against me and to call the company to dispute. They say The government is filing a debt against me for intentionally not paying a credit card debt. Not true and not the method that the government uses to notify someone of an issue.

Using a fake Facebook account, this person was offering “grant” money. After a few texts, they informed me of the cost for various amounts of money. You don’t have to pay for grants so it was obviously a scam. Now they won’t leave me alone and have threatened me: “we can work on all your information and put you in trouble i bet it with you”

Scammer's phone859-653-5747,859-653-1512 CountryUnited States Type of a scamHealthcare/Medicaid/Medicare
I think they are spoofing people's personal cell phone numbers. I got a call yesterday with an actual person's name showing up on my caller ID on my cell phone. I answered, the message says "This is not a sales call, do not hang up. Press 1 to be transferred to a live person for help with a medicare covered back or knee brace. Press 2 to be added to our do not call list." Yesterday, I pressed 2, they called me again from another number today, both are similar to family member's numbers, so I wasn't sure if it was another family member on the same plan, but a number that I didn't have in my phone yet. When they called today, I pressed 1, got a live person, told them I asked them to take me off yesterday and the guy hung up on me before I could finish my sentence. No company name given, I was going to ask the name before he hung up on me, I tried to call back and it went to voicemail, making me think that it is in fact spoofed from a real person's phone number.

RECEIVED PHONE CALL ON MY CELL FROM A CRAIGSLIST USED CAR AD THAT I HAD RECENTLY POSTED. I HAD USED MY FIRST NAME SO THEY KNEW I WAS A FEMALE. A MALE VOICE REACHED ME TO ASK IF IT WAS STILL AVAILABLE. ABRUPTLY CUT OFF. I MESSAGED THE PERSON WHO CLAIMED TO HAVE A POOR SIGNAL. THE ENSUING TEXT CONVERSATION WAS AN EFFORT TO GET ME TO GO TO NOWVINCHECKS.COM (PERSON SAID HIS BROTHER WAS A CAR DEALER AND THEY RECOMMENDED IT) WHICH WANTED INFO FROM ME AND WAS GOING TO PROBABLY CHARGE ME FOR A CLEAN TITLE REPORT OR AT LEAST COLLECT A CREDIT CARD #. I NEVER HEARD OF IT SO CHECKED FOR IT ONLINE. WAS REFERRED TO VEHICLEHISTORY.GOV AND I SAW THE LEGIT ONES FOR INDIVIDUAL OWNERS VS DEALERS THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THIS. THE RESPONSES I WAS GETTING TO MY QUESTIONS TO THE TEXTER DID NOT ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS SO IT DID SEEM SUSPICIOUS.
I won't beat around the bush. I am aware noah33 is your pass word. More to the point, I know your secret and I've evidence of it. You don't know me personally and nobody hired me to check out you.
It is just your bad luck that I found your misadventures. The truth is, I setup a malware on the adult video clips (porno) and you visited this website to experience fun (you know what I mean). While you were busy watching videos, your internet browser began functioning as a Rdp (Remote control desktop) that has a keylogger which provided me with access to your display and web cam. Right after that, my software gathered your complete contacts from facebook, and email.
Next, I put in much more time than I should have exploring into your life and created a two view video. First part displays the recording you were watching and second part displays the recording of your web cam (its you doing inappropriate things).
Frankly, I am willing to forget exactly about you and let you move on with your daily life. And I am going to present you two options that can make it happen. These two option is either to ignore this letter, or just pay me $ 1900. Let’s examine above two options in more details.
First Option is to ignore this email. You should know what will happen if you select this path. I will, no doubt send out your video to all of your contacts including friends and family, co-workers, and many others. It does not save you from the humiliation your self will must face when friends find out your dirty videos from me.
Option 2 is to pay me $ 1900. We will name it my “confidentiality fee”. Now let me tell you what happens if you choose this path. Your secret remains your secret. I'll delete the recording immediately. You keep your routine life as though none of this ever occurred.
Now you may be thinking, “I will call the cops”. Without a doubt, I've covered my steps to ensure this e-mail can't be traced to me and yes it will not prevent the evidence from destroying your daily life. I'm not planning to steal all your savings. I just want to be compensated for my time I put in investigating you. Let's hope you have decided to create this all go away and pay me the confidentiality fee. You'll make the payment through Bitcoin (if you don't know this, type "how to buy bitcoins" on search engine)
Tell no-one what you will use the Bitcoins for or they possibly will not sell it to you. The task to have bitcoins will take a short time so do not put it off.
I've a special pixel in this email, and now I know that you've read through this e-mail. You now have 24 hours to make the payment. If I do not receive the BitCoins, I definitely will send your video recording to your contacts including friends and family, colleagues, etc. You better come up with an excuse for friends and family before they find out. Nevertheless, if I receive the payment, I'll destroy the video immediately. It's a non-negotiable one time offer, so don't waste my time and yours. The clock is ticking.

Caller asked if I still had my car for sale on craigslist. I said "yes". No further comment from caller. Phone went dead. I called the number back. busy. tried several times. same thing. googled phone number. came back as verizon land line from Pennsylvania. Many numbers listed all in order. Appears to be getting me to say yes so they could bill or send me something I didn't order. The person on the other end was adult sounding educated with no accent. I will wait and see what develops. I have heard of this type of thing many years ago, but not recently. They use your recorded yes and phone number to do something illegal and unwanted.

I posted my used vehicle online for sale on craigslist. Shortly after I received a text message asking if I would sell it. Then he proceeded to ask me to purchase a vehicle history report and send it to him and he sent me a fake link and proceeded to tell me that link was the best place to get a history report. It seemed fishy so I did some research and then told him I was reporting this to the BBB.

I received a phone call with an automated recording telling me that my auto insurance policy was about to expire (I don't have a car). I was asked if I wanted to speak to a representative, and when I said yes (to ask to be taken off their call list), the phone call hung up. Not sure if it was a phishing attempt or an attempt to get an audio recording of my name.
