I was on my computer when a red pop up appeared telling me do not close or shutdown my computer that a virus had taken over and I must call the number on the screen. I called the number and spoke to Sandra. She wanted control of our computer and passwords and I told her that I would need to get that information from my wife when she got home from work. She asked that I call her back, but I have no intention of doing so.

Received a phone call from the number and person told me they had received a report that my computer had a virus. Person asked me to turn off my computer and turn it back on and then asked me if I could see the keyboard. He prompted me to reply “yes” then asked me to repeat myself. I’m a bit worried he may be using a recording of myself saying “yes” unauthorized purchases.

A warning left on my Answering Machine. telling me that I have a Computer Problem and not to do any financial transactions on my Computer until I call their Phone Number.

I could barley understand what he was saying because he used an Indian accent. I think his name was David and he was calling about my internet SCAM!!!

- Eau Claire, WI, USA

Person on phone said we were going to be charged $499 for tech support unless we call the following phone number (an 866 number).

I hung up. They called back 3 times at which time I punched 77#, and was disconnected.

Is this a legitimate call? Will we be billed $499 if we do not call that number?

- Morris, IL, USA

I received a phone call about tech support. I do not even own a computer.

- Cincinnati, OH, USA

I got a message on my screen saying Microsoft detected someone trying to get your information and call this number +18888284726 or they will block any further access to my account and it would not let me close the message

I was at home working with my computer. Someone cut in online informing me that my computer signaled his computer that there were some elements not working correctly. I listened as he described what was not functioning well and recommended ways he could fix them. I remained at my computer making changed and doing what he asked me to do. He stated that he was adding an anti-virus function among other things, including ways to make it run faster. Afterwards, he said that the price for 5 years would be about $500 and for lifetime $900. I ended up using my credit card, as he made it sound attractive and beneficial. The next day he called back, asked how it was working, and I told him satisfactorily, although it didn't seem any different. He next explained that the equipment and adjustments he had sold me were not working and offered to return my money. I asked him to put it back on my credit card and he said that the company could only put it back into my bank account. I continued to stay on the phone and he led me into pulling up all my bank accounts. Suddenly, I realized that the screen was showing all my banking information and I thought he might be planning fraud. I went directly to the bank and explained what had happened and had my accounts frozen and new ones opened. I also took my computer to Office Depot and the man couldn't justify exactly what had happened, but he did make a few adjustments.

the spam call stated he was a tech support that I called him about my computer. I said he had the wrong number. he then stated no I have the right number. I then said yes you have the wrong number. the call ended right after that. 954-925-1187

A middle eastern accented man called an elderly relative and said he was calling from our tech support company. He said that they had been receiving information and messages from my PC and asked if we had seen the warnings that we were in danger, and said that since they were our tech support company they could help and needed information from my PC.

I received a call on my cell phone: The person that called had a heavy Indian accent. They said they were calling about my computer. I asked them "what about my computer"? They said to help out with your computer. I told them that is why I have tech's that help me with that and they hung up on me.

Received a message on my computer that my computer was locked and to NOT turn off my computer but to call this number: 1-866-217-8835 for help. When I called the number an individual answered that did not speak good English, so I hung up and called back and received another rep that I could not understand very well. They kept instructing me to put different codes into my computer, which I did. At one point, my McAfee security software said not to proceed, but the tech urged me to say it was OK, which I did. Then my computer instructed me to download something. I asked if this would cost me anything and the tech responded "yes" but couldn't tell me how much it would cost, so I hung up. Since then - about five days ago - they have called my home telephone several times every day and tell me to call this number - 1-855-792-7928. My daughter called this number and asked for the company name and the individual said "Global Technologies LLC" and became angered when she said she was turning them into the ScamPulse.com and also refused to remove our number from their call list, "since she was turning them in to the ScamPulse.com." This sounds very much like a scam and I hope you can stop them from victimizing anyone else and maybe getting financial assistance from anyone who is unsuspecting.

On 5/8/17, I contracted a computer virus when downloading an upgrade to flash player. It was an “Adware” threat, and simultaneously a hacker took over my computer. They said they were tech support and that I needed the following: optimization, remove Trojans, speed up system, smtp settings update, repair drives, install security and popup blocker, and that I needed to buy an “anti hacking kit” (which I did not do). They performed all of this work while I was watching them do it remotely on my laptop screen. But before they did the work, they asked me for a credit card number to pay for “free tech support for 5 years and cover 5 devices at $299”. I was also told I could add more devices at any time. They gave me a toll free number to call if I had any issues and to add devices – 1-844-880-3699. I agreed to the $299 and paid via PayPal so they could not have my credit card number. I have a MacBook and use Safari so I was concerned that I may have been hacked but at the time it all happened so fast I just didn’t respond quickly enough to deny their request and just shut down my computer before I had a chance to digest this fiasco! First time this ever happened to me and lesson learned. Don't click on anything!

After a few weeks I reported this to my bank because I was concerned I may have been hacked. I didn't have much information to give them so they could track down the fraud attempt and ultimately credit my credit card account so I directed them to cancel the "fraud" report. I called the hacker's “billing department” number requesting to cancel their service and get a refund. The man who answered the phone only said hello, no company name, and asked for my customer id number (WH-05-2017-45) and phone number. He said “just wait” and put me on hold. He then said he was not able to pull up the account and asked for my email address. Then asked again for my customer id number. He said just wait and put me on hold again. Then he came back on and said the billing team will call you back in half an hour. They never called me back and I had a very strong feeling they wouldn’t because they have no company name and I believe they are just a bunch of hackers in India.

I contacted Apple and asked if they contracted out to any firms to fix malware issues and was told absolutely not. Apple then proceeded to check my system to ensure it was safe and right now it is. I believe the hackers are in a foreign country but I only ever spoke to one person both times I was in contact with them – 5/8/17 and again on 5/27. The man spoke with a Pakistani Indian accent. I never received his name nor a company name and I asked! On my PayPal account the payee information appears as follows: Recipient - Jayati Dhingra, [email protected].

The $299 charge via PayPal to my credit card has been paid by me. At this point, I really don’t think my bank or anyone else can do anything since there is no other information to go on. I am afraid to call the only other number they provided and that is the number 402-935-7733 that appears on my credit card statement.

I saw a ScamPulse.com report on the news this morning (9/25/17) about scamming and decided to report this to the BBB. Thank you.

Tech called and said he was notified by computer that something was going wrong with computer and wanted to take charge which I gave him permission.( should not have). Showed me foreign addresses, I told him he could remove he wanted $10. I told him I would not pay. After I hung up , I could not sign I, I was told he changed the password. To correct this problem I was told they'd have to reenstall operating system which could wipe out photos, and passwords. I am going to try and spend the $100 to fix the problem as I need the use of the computer.

Company called claiming they are getting error messages about my computer. They are saying I am at risk of getting a computer virus, and even after I tell them my computer has been checked, they insist on fixing it. They try to use a legitimate computer screen sharing software to "fix" your computer. They have called me numerous times, using different phone numbers each time. I have told them to stop calling but they do not stop.

They call and say the company is going out of business. They need to remove their software feom your computer and in order to issue a refund they need your checking account information

- Canyon Country, CA, USA

The scammer called my mobile phone claiming to have identified computer issues and requested that I give him control of my computer. I wasn't on my computer when he called. My mother identified the caller's voice when I put him on speaker phone based on her experience with receiving the same type of phone call. He goes by the name of "Sam", has a heavy foreign accent, maybe an indian accent. He called her a couple of months ago, unfortunately she fell for it and gave him access to her computer and he almost had her convinced to wire him $250-$450 via Western Union. She had to close her bank accounts and reopen new ones after both of her banks informed her of suspicious activity. Fortunately for her, the banks caught the activity and froze her accounts.

They have called me several times. They say they that there has been a security breach involving my internet IP address. I told them not to call !E anymore, to take my name off the list, I even told them I do not have a computer or tablet, they are still calling. They need to be stopped and this is the only phone number they have been calling from.
