She had an Indian accent and said she was with Medicare. She said this was a yearly follow up from last September. Then, she said "the federal government"..., and that is when I interrupted and said, "the federal government has nothing to do with me" to which she chuckled and replied, "we are on a recorded line". That is when I hung up. I called the number back and the call immediately went to voicemail said, "the person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time".

- Bedford, OH, USA • Jul 25, 2024

I received several calls from different numbers asking if I have received the new Medicare card. I said no, I still have my paper one. They stated they were going to send a new card and asked for my ID #, which did not provide.

I called back the scam number and it was a woman selling health insurance! I told her I am in the do not call registry and she scolded me saying she is not a fake person. But a medical insurance company and she has all my info! She was mean! I told her to remove my number immediately! I’m sick of these calls! All day! Every day!

A foreign sounding person claimed to be a Medicare representative. He told me I needed a new 2024 Medicare card because of changes to the program. He needed my new address, and at that point I hung up. Medicare does not call you for information. They do everything by mail. Beware!

- Tooele, UT, USA • Jul 02, 2024

They identified themselves as a medicare representative. Asked personal information, including insurance. Wanting to send the person a back brace.

When confronted about asking personal information, & misrepresenting themselves. They denied saying they dont call people, its an incoming line only.

Called from or was using 480 872-9444 . Said he was calling from Medicare & wanted to know the last time I went to the Dr, when I asked him why he needed that information because if he WAS Medicare he would have that information. Sounded like he was from India. He started yelling at me so I hung up!

- Monroe, IA, USA • Apr 16, 2024

Phone # on caller ID showed as V416110242000235188 AND 641-472-6785. Call was an automated system stating "can you hear me?" "My name is Abby the updated Medicare benefits have been announced..." "We can find you the best deals from 18 companies..." I am not eligible for Medicare & indicated this when prompted every time they've called and it has been repeatedly from various numbers.

- Clifton Forge, VA, USA • Apr 11, 2024

- Strongsville, OH, USA • Apr 11, 2024

Caller asked if I had received my new Medicare card. I sensed it was a scam. Unfortunately, I answered yes & hung up. I felt it was a scam & they were calling trying to have me provide information.

I called Medicare & they said they never make phone calls. I didn't give any information but worry they might have recorded my voice. Hope this information is helpful to prevent other situations for the public.

Call claimed to be from Medicare and wanted to confirm address and date of birth to receive free at no cost back, wrist and knee braces

- Virginia Beach, VA, USA • Mar 28, 2024

The caller claimed to work with Medicare. They were to deliver a package with back and knee braces, covered by Medicare part B.

I asked the name of the company and researched them. Care Plus Supplies Corp, in New York - foreign owned. The number they called from was local (757)909-0931. When they asked for personal info, which I did not share, I told them I would call my Medicare rep to see who authorized this "free" shipment. They insisted it was a benefit and no one had to authorize it. Then the line went dead.

- Roanoke, VA, USA • Mar 22, 2024

Call from "Medicare Shipping Department." Wanted to offer me knee or back brace. I told the heavily accented caller Medicare does not call people, cussed him out and hung up. I lost nothing other than time.

- Tiffin, OH, USA • Dec 15, 2023

I received a phone call and they didn't state who they were, just said "Medicare needs" and just asked right away about my medicare card. Asked me to go get my medicare card and give me the date on it. I asked the caller if they were working for the US government and then they hung up. I've had two of these this year. I'm elderly but they didn't even say who they were and wanted information from my medicare card that is unusual.

- Duluth, MN, USA • Nov 25, 2023

Told me my new Medicare card would be mailed every 4 years but i don't remember giving him my medicare number so now a back brace came in the mail that i nor my doctor ***** ********, E*******, D***** MN ordered. My doctor has other scam orders on her record. Mine was Service Dates 10/30/2023 to 10/30/2023

Claim Type DME

Provider BLUEGRASS DME

Claim Number ************** Medicare-approved amount $1,012.84

Medicare paid $794.06

You may be billed $202.57

I am not paying 202.57, that's for sure

And for those who get scammed by tv ads, why does the USA even allow such ads on TV when the level of crime is so enormous? Seems like this scamming is being encouraged. Still goes on after all these years.
