Medicare Imposter Reports & Reviews (99)

Identified himself as Medicare, wanting to talk to my husband about acquiring a back brace for his back and knee pain. Called husband’s cell phone 5 times in 4 days. First four calls from (618) 215-2177 on March 4, 5, 6, 2019, fifth call on March 7 from (585)206-6237. Husband, son and I answered 4 of 5 calls, missed one. I took last call, questioned it was Medicare and he recited our street address. Told him husband’s condition well researched by his neurosurgeon and primary care physician, pain management is their recommendation, not a back brace. Choose to follow their directions, back brace would exacerbate, not relieve pain.

Calls are from 240-562-3589-Gaithersburg MD. and says they want to confirm Medicare info. and provide Medicare assistance. Received several calls. Cannot return call. I recieved at least one phone call a day about how " Great News, you have been approved for a knee or back brace" it prompts you to press 5 to be placed on your do not call list and when i do it hangs up. but i keep getting daily calls. So i presses 1 to spk with someone. I've spoken to Eddie, Dominic, Tyrone and some dother name i couldnt understand and specifically asked them to remove me and to cease calling. Calls continue daily and its impossible. I block the # they call from and just call from a new one each day

- Mc Graw, NY, USA

I don't usually answer phone numbers I don't know, but I've seen this number repeatedly on my caller I'd over the last several months. When I call it back, it says they are trying to reach my party, then says please try again later. Well I answered the phone call finally today and it was a man with an Indian accent stating he was calling to activate my Medicare card # and that it shows that it's not activated. First off, Medicare cards are not "activated" either you have Medicare and they send you the card or you don't. I knew this, even though I'm not even old enough to receive Medicare. So I told the man no. He said what do you mean no? I said i dont even have Medicare. I said quit calling my number, then he hung up.

I had blocked the number before; the

call came through anyway. States they are calling regarding my Medicare.

- Anchorage, AK, USA

The call started with an automated message stating that I will be denied Medicare if I do not act now. I followed along and muted my phone and a man named Corey answered and referred to himself as a pain specialist. I hung up and blocked the number after that.

Asked about a recent inquiry and without thinking I answered yes. The caller then hung up. Could hear the beeping in the background that would indicate they were recording but was distracted and didn't think about what they were asking until the end.

- Pocatello, ID, USA

Thought I'd share this with you, Tis the season for scammers. I am listing these phone numbers for everyone to see. They claim to be selling insurance and are trying to help people because the deadline is coming up, but they need your credit card # in order to send you the documentation to look over. The one that came in as Boise called three times but was obviously not in Idaho, he had no idea how to pronounce Pocatello or Bannock.

A girl called Maria claimed to be from Medicare and she was trying to sell back and knee braces I said I don't have chronic knee or back pain she then hung up

Vast amount of calls representing Medicare over the last several months. Please investigate to protect our elderly folks.

I've been called by a number that my husband and I will receive a back brace. I don't even have medicare yet! This person speaks English with a foreign accent and quickly told me EVERYTHING about myself: my name, birthday, address and phone number. Then proceded to tell me I will receive a back brace for my back and asked me my height and how much I weighed. Also asked to verify my husband details. Had his birthday and address and so on correct. At the end when he reviewed the details, he asked me for my social security and I told him that I do not give out my social security number to ANYONE and hung up. If he calls again, I will hang up directly!

- Vancouver, WA, USA

I have been called three days in a row, by three different people at this phone number, telling me that I have medicare benefits for a back or knee brace that I have not used.

Each time I have told them not to call back. I know this is a scam.

I didn't talk long enough to learn what they wanted, whether money or information.

- Lubbock, TX, USA

I received a phone call from 626-205-9619 stating they were Medicare and needed to speak to Karen Jones. I told them she was not available and they asked if she was still having problems with her back and knees. I told them I was not aware she had ever had those problems and they asked to speak to her again. I told them she was not available and for them not to call her again. They hung up.

- Chesnee, SC, USA

Received a call from a person saying they were Medicare, selling a brace. Talked with phone number 516-331-2559, did not leave a name. He stated that the brace was free and that Medicare will pay for it. I gave him my social security number and my medicare number. The gentleman stated that he would call me back at 5:00 today.

- Moore, SC, USA

Received a phone call from Columbus, Georgia stating they were representing Medicare and could save money on my medications. I told the person calling I did not need help and hung up. I tried to call the number back to see who it was and the number was disconnected.

Left a voicemail on my landline at work asking me to call back to submit Medicare Quality Measures for our Medicare Patients. Medicare would not be calling our office for this information, we are part of an ACO and we already submit this information through them. So I am assuming this is a scam trying to get our patient's data. I didn't return the call.

- Kent, WA, USA

The scammer barely spoke English and was east indian and said they have my back brace. They somehow had my cell number and birth date and wanted more info. When I questioned further, she hung up. I do not needa backbrace and I know this was a scam.

- Louisville, KY, USA

Stated that I had inquired about Medicare/Medicaid or already have it and wanted me to answer Yes/No Questions. He hung up when I answered "No, not interested".
