I got a call saying that Medicare was giving free Cancer screenings and said that if I didn't take advantage of this screening that I might not be able to get treatment in the future.

- Yakima, WA, USA

Said they wanted to talk about new benefits. I called and a few times it said no in service and a few times they answer.

My elderly father received a phone call from a woman he thought was a nurse about Medicare. She asked about his card and what number was on it. He gave her that information.

- De Witt, IA, USA

Caller said he wanted to help me with my Medicaid. I told him I wasnt anywhere near getting Medicaid. He asked me if i was so and so, live at such an address, and born a certain year. They had the name and city right but birthdate and address was wrong. They said they were sorry they bothered me and hung up.

- Salem, OR, USA

A man, no name given says he was calling from Medicare, asked me to verify my address and first name, which he already had the full address. He also asked me for my middle initial. Then he started asking me about aches and pains and if I had fallen in the last three years and started telling me about a wrap they had. I told him I wasn't interested. He asked if I had a new Medicare card and what the number was. I told him that I don't give out the number. He said that it isn't my social security number any longer so I gave him my number. At the end of the call, he stated he was going to transfer me to another person to talk to but the caller hung up. I tried to call the phone number back that was given to me by the caller and the recording stated it wasn't a valid number.

just received a phone call stating that it was for Medicare and then I had to contact them to receive my free brace or my medicare would be terminated. Obvious scam reporting the phone number.

- Lynnwood, WA, USA

- Rochester, NY, USA

V61************? She with very heavy accent aand then she asked me about my medicare and if I needed extra benefits for my legs, etc. I said no and then she asked me about any body in the house that needs them? I said no. I did not say yes just yah. I do not know if this is connected but after I hung up I called the number back and it was just busy. Then our home phone line went dead and as of now 2 hours later it is still dead. ******** tried to fix the problem but had no luck. I have to wait until tomorrow until they can send someone to figure out the problem. It seems crazy that this happened at that time.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA

They claimed to be calling from Medicare on a recorded line and asked if I could hear them okay. When I said yes, the call was disconnected. I'm afraid my voice was recorded and now they'll be able to make fraudulent charges against my phone or credit card.

- Olympia, WA, USA

not sure if this is a scam but was asked if iI could hear and said yes then nothing, then remembered hearing of a scam and got worried

- Star, ID, USA

This Asian lady keeps calling me from different numbers requesting my personal info.

- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

I got a call where someone said they were Medicare and asked if I got my new card in the mail. I said yes and they asked for the number on it so I hung up.

- Henrietta, TX, USA

I received a piece of mail saying medicare wanted my phone number.

I received a call on 10/10/19 at 5:39pm from 716-343-8952 from a live person. "Hi, this is Kate from Medicare, can you hear me?" I was just in from work and listening to my husband tell me of his numerous phone calls to and from medical providers. When I saw the number I thought it was a doctor's office, picked it up and answered, "Yes" to Kate -- who hung up immediately and I realized I was scammed. I called the number back to make sure and an automated voice said all the agents were busy and to email [email protected]

I then went online and filed an FTC complaint, froze all my credit reports on Experian, Equifax and Transunion. I normally know NOT to answer like this, but they caught me at a vulnerable time and I didn't think. I hope they do not do anything terrible to us. My husband has medical issues and we just don't need this right now.

Can you help?

I am reporting this on behalf of my aging mother. She received 45+ phone calls a day from a variety of different phone #’s saying they are from Medicare and asking for her personal info then wanting to send her free products such as back braces, shoulder harnesses etc. Never from a phone # that receives calls and always a foreign sounding person. We have blocked calls and told them to not call back and put this # on do not call list. This started from a call in February 2019 when they sent her a box of braces and charged Medicare. This is fraud of our US Government Medicare and the thousands of phone calls are making her (us) crazy. What can we do? Who can stop these criminals? I have even personally taken the phone and talked with them yet they continue. Please help!! Going nuts in Washington State.

They will not quit calling, at least 5 to 6 times a day saying they are Medicare and offering braces. They keep changing their phone number and continue to call. This has been happening for over two weeks.

- Interlaken, NY, USA

Same as a previously reported scam where a recorded message says "Hello, I'm Nancy, your Medicare advocate" -then something about braces for pain relief and that I am about to be dropped from Medicare's list for this service unless I respond.... Options for pressing 1 to speak to a representative or pressing 9 to be placed on the no call list are offered. These calls come 2 to 3 times a day, every day, over my land line. Caller ID shows a different number each time- too many to enumerate here. I have never answered my phone to these calls/messages; I don't know if they were seeking money or not...

Back and leg brace offered, elderly relative gave out her SSN

- Arnold, MD, USA

For the past several weeks, I have received pre-recorded calls on my cell phone, many times each day.. The woman caller says "THIS IS YOUR FINAL NOTICE. IF YOU DO NOT ACT SOON, MEDICARE WILL LABEL YOU INELLIGIBLE FOR COVERAGE. PRESS "1" TO SPEAK WITH ME OR PRESS "9" TO BE PUT ON DO NOT CALL LIST". Because I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize, a voicemail message is always left. The area of the calls is my area code.

Identified himself as Medicare, wanting to talk to my husband about acquiring a back brace for his back and knee pain. Called husband’s cell phone 5 times in 4 days. First four calls from (618) 215-2177 on March 4, 5, 6, 2019, fifth call on March 7 from (585)206-6237. Husband, son and I answered 4 of 5 calls, missed one. I took last call, questioned it was Medicare and he recited our street address. Told him husband’s condition well researched by his neurosurgeon and primary care physician, pain management is their recommendation, not a back brace. Choose to follow their directions, back brace would exacerbate, not relieve pain.
