I was involved in a traffic accident and a man came up to me asking if I was okay. He told me not to worry about the car and he could provide help. He then proceeded to sate that he worked at a body shop (Jotham Collision Center) and had a friend who could bring a towing truck to move the car for free to the body shop. Although, he was told to give me a second to think, he persisted that I let his towing truck pick my car and take it to his body shop. Even the officer in the scene told him to back away since he was answering questions that were being asked to my husband relating to the car. His constant persistence led me to sign a paper he gave me giving them permission to hold my car. But I was never told I would have to pay for that service. The next day, I went to pick up my car only to be told that my insurance or the person's insurance who crashed into me had to pay in order for them to release my car. The other person did not have insurance and my insurance did would not cover this expense. I have been trying to get my car back but they won't release it unless I pay the 5,000 they are asking for. They gave me the option of to sign off the title of my car to them and only pay the towing fee which is 650. I asked for an itemized bill to figure our what I was being charged for however, they did not want to provide one. I was given misleading information because I was initially told the towing would be free and not once did they mention I would be charged for keeping my car there.
