Harassing calls from someone pretending to be from the National Tax Executive Office

I receive at least three calls a day from someone pretending to be Luci from the National Tax Executive Office telling me that I have taxes that were filed, a balance, and other things! These are just a few of the voicemails and phone numbers used to harass me.

They left a voicemail on my phone claiming to be with a department of the IRS. Since I had missed them they gave me a direct number to call for my assigned tax officer. I called it and I got someone with a very thick accent from India. They wanted to ask me some questions about my taxes or how much I or the IRS owes. Then proceeds to ask about 5 thousand dollars, if I had it or if the IRS gave me that or even if I needed to pay that amount. They wanted to know if I qualified for a new program from the IRS, “IRS Fresh Start program, your household may qualify for partial forgiveness”. I told them no and to stop calling me. They have proceeded to call me from different numbers from different states all claiming to be the same thing and sometimes it’s an older gentleman named Todd Erickson. But the call back number is always the same or slightly different by one or two numbers.

THE CALLER LEFT A VOICE MAIL. I NEVER ANSWERED THE CALLS. THEY CLAIM WE HAVE AN OUTSTANDING TAX ISSUE WITH THE IRS. WE HAVE RECEIVED OVER 100 VOICE MAILS CLAIMING IRS TAX ISSUES. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR. I ALWAYS BLOCK THE NUMBER, THE CALLER ID SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM ALL OVER THE U.S. THE CALLS HAVE ALL COME FROM A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER. I BLOCK THE CALL AND THEN A NEW NUMBER IS LEAVING A VOICE MAIL.

Constant calls from tax relief scammers reading a script

I get at least five calls a week from scammers pretending to offer tax relief from the National Tax Executive Office. They are, of course, in violation of the Do-Not-Call Registry and also do not actually have access to see if you have unfiled taxes or not - they apparently are just targeting every taxpayer in hopes of separating people from their money. This one is a bored-sounding lady reading a canned script: "Hi there, this call is in reference to the new update on your tax file. Good afternoon, this is Lucy with the National Tax Executive Office. My direct line is 833-727-4244. Your tax file, it's still showing a possible balance or some unfiled returns and based on the information we have, your household may qualify for partial forgiveness under the new IRS Fresh Start program. In some cases, that can significantly reduce or even eliminate what's owed. If you have a moment, please call us back before the current budget for your state is exhausted.
