IRS Reports & Reviews (5101)

I recd a call at 2:38 PM yesterday and it was a recorded msg. I answered the phone and a woman stated they were w/the IRS and I need to contact them. She stated we could be sued so I just hung up.

They called and said they were the IRS and that they were going to sue me.

My daughter was contacted on her cell phone from someone saying that she owed the IRS money. I took the phone from her and they said that she owed $3240. They said that her accountant made a mistake. They said if she hung up they were going to issue a warrant for her address. She was prepared to give them her credit card information and pay it- and was in tears because they kept threatening.

A call came in at 2:59 pm on our house phone I have instructed my elderly mother not to answer calls from numbers she does not recognize to let them leave a msg. An automated recording left a msg as follows "hello this is the IRS we are attempting to collect back taxes, if you do not call us at our business number (left same number that called, which came up on caller ID as cell phone IN ), and immediately settle this debt we will take action against you."

Also my daughter got the same call within a few minutes of previous one she was at wrk and got the msg. The call came in on her cell phone which is under my mother's name as well because they are on a Tmobile plan together. She actually called them back and said person asked her name, she told them, they immediately started in by telling her she owed back taxes from 2009-2014 and if she did not pay immediately they would freeze her assets (she has none) and file charges against her and put her in jail. They spoke with a heavy accent were clearly foreign she thought maybe of middle eastern descent or hispanic. She panics of course and tells them her mom did her taxes those years because she was in college, they proceeded to ask was the mistake intentional or accidental? And continued with threats. She asked how could she take care of this and they told her she needed to purchase a $1500 Itunes gift card and send to an address. She finally caught on and said since when does the IRS take Itune gift cards for any type of payment?? They continued with threats. She hung up on them. She is in her mid 20's. But I truly feel they were attempting to target my elderly mother being they called house then cell phone which is in my mother's name.

4845419419 Pensylvania left me a similar message next day.

I can already tell this is scam simply for the fact that this is inconsistant the numbers arent linked to government agencies. I called and there was muddled chatter in the background like a tvs or call center a man with i thick middle eastern or Indian accent answered and said i think Thank you for calling the Internal Revenue Service how can i help you. i said 'i had recieved a call from this number'. he said 'wat?' i repeated the question he said 'ok and who am i speaking with?' Having had dealings with actual goverment againcies and the real corperations via telephone correspondence I know they have caller ID. They know who you are and why your calling so i asked with a bit of a mocking tone 'This is the IRS?..' Whether they understood the tone of the question or took it as a statement I am not sure because they immediately hung up.

I received a voice message saying they were the IRS and I needed to call them about money I owe them.

The Consumer received call from IRS and was left a vm to call back or be threatened with lawsuit and legal action.

The scam was attempted via an automated phone message (seemingly a computer generated voice) with the following threat: "FROM THE IRS, INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICES: THE REASON OF THIS CALL IS TO INFORM YOU IRS IS FILING LAWSUIT AGAINST YOU. TO GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CASE FILE PLEASE CALL IMMEDIATELY OUR DEPARTMENT OFFICE NUMBER (573) 305-2655. I REPEAT, (573) 305-2655. THANK YOU.

* Please note the message identified the call as being from "Internal Revenue SERVICES, not Service!

* The call was made twice today, once in the morning before 11 am and also this afternoon before 4 pm.

I received a voicemail stating I owed money to the IRS and was in trouble and to call them back immediately.
