Left message they were the IRS and the consumer needed to call them back.

- Johnstown, OH, USA

Prerecorded message: caller said they were IRS and I had not done my taxes correctly and they were sending a sheriff to my door to arrest if I did not send them money right away to prevent this from happening; The number given *** was probably a phishing scam since the number belongs to a private individual. I did not return the call to the scammers; I looked up the information.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA

Consumer said that she got a call on voicemail from someone saying they were with the IRS. Consumer was told that they would be served papers and arrested. Wanted a phone call back.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

Caller identified himself as Officer Mark Brown and that a fraudulent filing had been used which I was hiding from the IRS and they wanted to collect their money. Caller left his name and phone number 201-485-6735 to call back. I wrote down the number and filed this report. These calls come several times a month on my cell phone and home phone.

- Fort Wayne, IN, USA

IRS Telephone Scam - I received a threatening voicemail stating to call 908-975-0525 before my bank accounts were frozen and I was arrested. I returned the call and it was answered by a man who stated, "IRS." I was informed that I was selected at random for a tax audit, and it had been found that I intentionally defrauded the Internal Revenu Service. Because I had not responded to prior correspondence, there was a warrant out for my arrest. I was further informed that if I disconnected the call, it would "activate" something (unclear as to what that was), and that authorities would be at my house within 45 min to arrest me. I was given a case# for my audit and a warrant# for my arrest.

They are claiming to be the IRS and saying i owe $4200.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

I received a call and a voice mail about me owing back taxes. I just got married 3 weeks ago and they had my married name and said I owed back taxes. I asked them what name the back taxes were under and they said her married name. I told her I only had this name for 3 weeks so how could I owe back taxes and she hung up on me. I also received a text message threatening me with international fraud and to call 469-982-5000. The voice mail I received wanted me to call 707-271-0156

Caller demands past taxes be paid. I hung up on the caller.

I let the call go to voicemail while I was at work. The voicemail reported that federal agents would be after me if I did not call within a couple hours. I called back to see what was going on, IRS was repeated three times before i said can I help you? The guy asked my age, my age do you know my name I replied? Had my husbands info originally with Z's in the spelling in random places also mine. He was able to give me an employee ID number but not accurate for IRS employees. He reported that I defrauded the government since 2013 and need to pay over 5K or they would seize everything. I did not offer any money ... rather quite the opposite with other legal issues at this time. However;

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received call allegedly from the IRS saying they were going to suspend my SS# because it had been used in a criminal case in Texas. The caller had an accent. He read off my complete social security number as well as a case number and arrest warrant number. He would not tell me where he got my SS# and ended the call. The number on my caller ID was 800-222-4569.

- Gallatin, TN, USA

I do not answer unknown numbers so the call went to voicemail. I received the call 11/26/18 at 2:51 pm central. The call was a "taped" message stating that the IRS had an arrest warrant issued for me. That I could lose my house if I did not call the number, 660-246-4792, to resolve and pay what was due the government.

- Farmington, NH, USA

Received a call where the man reported he was with the IRS and doing an investigation. The IRS does not call you and nor would they call about an investigation into you. This man was seeking compromising information, I knew it was a scam so I hung up.

I received an automated call claiming to be from the IRS saying that I owed them money or I would be sued. I looked the number up and saw it was a scamming number. I want to report this to make sure others do not believe this to be real.

I've been getting calls on my cell phone from the IRS. They say I've been chosen for a $7000 grant. They gave me an ID number. to call back. She asked me if I was married. When I call it back, it's a NY number, and they say they are with the Grants and Treasure dept, I spoke to Ashley and she told me to check it out with ScamPulse.com as they are legit. They want me to go to Walmart and buy a $200 refundable card, and call them back. I called them back at 929-390-2338 because I was already at Walmart. Some calls it's a guy, other times it's a girl. All of the numbers look like they are coming from Washington DC.

- Columbus, OH, USA

I've been getting calls on my cell phone for the last month from IRS. They ask for my name and social security number. I said I don't pay taxes, and he hung up. I got another call, and they left a message about fraud.
