A man called my cell phone saying that he was with the IRS he said first his name was Peter Anderson then he said his name was Andrew Peterson he gave me his badge number gave me a case number and some other kind of number said that I owe the IRS over $2,000 and that I couldn't interrupt him during the phone call and that they were going to see my check for the lean on or whatever I had I when I told him that I was going to call the Better Business of Investigation he got real upset and hung up the phone on me

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

Received a voicemail message telling me I was going to be in trouble with the law if I didn't call ***. It was about a tax issue.

Told consumer they were the IRS and they needed to call them back or they would be arrested.

Checking messages on my recently acquired cell phone, it looked like a friend from Texas was trying to contact me regarding an upcoming visit. The creepy robo-voice said this exact message: "Right now you and your physical property are both being monitored and it is very important that I do hear back from you as soon as possible before we proceed further in any legal manner. My direct callback number is 325-206-6010. Again, that number is 325-206-6010. Thank you." I called back later in the day, fairly sure that it was a scam, and was surprised that after a period of background music, a person actually answered. The woman who answered was very heavily accented, but Identified herself as an agent of the IRS, and wanted to contact my deceased mother (2007). I can see trying to scam a woman who would be 97 at this time, but how did her name get associated with my recently acquired number?

Consumer called:

I got a call from the IRS saying I was going to be arrested for tax fraud, they said they sent me two letters and now had to call me. They are sending a sheriff to my house in 45 minutes but I called the sheriff and he knows nothing about it and told me to call BBB.

Automated message from the IRS stating this is a final notice regarding lawsuit being filed against me by them and to call this number for more information. This call was made to my daughter's cell phone and she is a minor - age 14. Your form below does not offer that age as an option.

- Ritzville, WA, USA

Caller wanted social security number and date of birth to apparently protect my identity and research other fraudulent use of my social security number. Left return phone number and said to contact them immediately.

A male claiming to be with the IRS left a message to call 270-975-4098 or they would issue an arrest warrant for back taxes. Called the number back, his English was not very good. Told him he was not with the IRS. He hung up on me.

Just said they were the IRS and they needed to call back.

My brother recieved a phone call the first time the person left a message and wanted a phone call back. So he called them back. He told them there is no way he owed money. The second time he was told he was getting arrested within the hour. I googled the phone number and it was a spam phone number.

- Columbus, OH, USA

Received voice message . Saying they had reviewed income tax filings, if I don't pay amount owed, within 24 hours. Cops will come to arrest me.

I called them back and told them I will call the local police on them. They hung up.

- Laurelville, OH, USA

IRS left message that was time sensitive deal. I was to call them back. I did not call them back.

A male caller with an Indian accent, and a Seattle area code, says that a criminal arrest warrant has been filed against me as a result of fraudulent tax filings for 6 years, amounting to $3,700. Unless I send $500, he says, I will be arrested within 4 days. I hung up. but I received 5 more identical calls within a few days, all with different area codes and phone numbers. I hung up on each one.

Thank you

8 phone calls from same number on Oct 22 starting at 9:30am and every 15 minutes until I picked up the phone (says "Hughson, CA" as the location). I was told it was the IRS and there is an arrest warrant out for me (arrest warrant 100-3636, case ID#CK846042). The person identified themself as a federal officer and said that they could help resolve the IRS issue without the local police coming to my door and arresting me on the spot. I asked what their federal employee ID number was, which was ignored with the repeat of the "police will come to your door and arrest you unless we can resolve this issue right away". I told them I would speak to my neighbor, who is a police officer, to resolve the issue. She said "you do NOT want my help? You want your family to see you being arrested and taken to jail?". Very aggressive, but I did not share any personal information other than my zip code (asked at the beginning of the question).

consumer called:

I got a call and I didn't answer the call but I listened to the voicemail and they told me they were the IRS and this is their last attempt at getting money from me.

This was an automated call which said that they were call from the IRS and that there were fraudulent tax returns submitted in my name. I should get in touch with someone (district person) followed by a long series of numbers (badge number maybe). They ended by saying that if I did not get in touch with them I would be arrested.

- Wilmington, NC, USA

I was contacted and told that the IRS was going to issue an arrest warrant, due to owing $7,612.72 in taxes as a ruler of an audit of my taxes. I was told that if I hang up the warrant would issue the arrest warent, later in the call I was told that he was going issue the warrant if I did not hang up. This was after I was told to set up a voucher today for $1,000 and then I would be on a payment plan. When I told him that I did not have $1000 to do that and that I needed to talk to family members, this is when I was told if I hang up that the board would be issued. I talk to two different people they gave me two different federal ID badge numbers and spellings of their names.

- Midland, TX, USA

I received a call last Thursday October 18, 2018 from a 1-800 number that stated that I had a federal warrant for tax fraud and tax evasion. They told me information about previous addresses and said if I didn’t speak to the investigation officer to settle warrant the police would be outside my door in less than 45 minutes . I continue to explain that I would never fraud the government and evade taxes but they said it didn’t matter if it was deliberate or not they needed 500 dollars to cancel warrant and warrant was coming from Washington, DC.

I was instructed to go to my closest Walgreens or CVS to get a Google Play card for $500 I didn’t have that amount so he instructed me to send what I had. He would put me on hold like he was speaking to a supervisor and once I was off the phone and spoke to family I realized that it was a scam. They have been calling everyday and won’t leave me alone I have contacted the cops 4 times and they said report it online but I feel harassed because they call 10 or more a day with threats. They leave messages using an automated service but never leave one with a real person. A female called yesterday I answered heard her say hello and I hung up. I am being harassed by these people daily. The 137.65 was all I had to my name I’m a single mom with two children not from Midland,TX striving to survive and they are harassing me for my money. Please help!!!

- Birmingham, AL, USA

voicemail left on personal cell phone Stating they were calling from the IRS and there were 4 allegations against us. Did not use name or state allegations. Stated that we would be taken into federal custody unless, the phone call was returned with in 2 hours.

I called the number back the man answers "Internal Revenue Service" I then asked for his ID number and he replied after a moments pause and says "1069" I then thanked him and told him I would contact the ScamPulse.com with his information and get back to him... He hung up on me.
