OVERPAYMENT SCAM

On 2/20/20 someone who said his name was Brad Wilson from FixComp Solutions (phone 908 312 7944 http://www.paysn.org) said that software that had been installed on my computer last year had something wrong with it and he was going to put in the correct software, and refund me the $358 I had paid for my trouble.

His real name, or someone he works with, is rahul singh (phone 089325 64715). He was very charming and persuasive and also persistent. He talked way too fast. He said he was with the company 12 years and was a supervisor.

I gave him my bank account information and there was a deposit of $3000. I offered to do an electronic transfer back for the overpayment but he said he was not set up to do this and I needed to go to Best Buy. The store is an hour away, and I told him I wasn’t well (actually have a concussion), but he said he would get in trouble because two of the people who work for him had made mistakes. So I agreed to go. I called him from Best Buy and he said I needed to buy $2500 in gift cards, which I did. (I have the receipts.)

When I came home I gave him the info on the cards, and when I checked my bank account, of course the $3000 was gone and I was out $2500. The $3000 had been pending.

He tried to pull the same stunt again, saying he would refund my original contract, the $2500, and an extra amount, coming to $5000. In my bank account there was $10,000. Again, he wanted me to go to Best Buy and get gift cards in the amount that was “his” money. I said no way.

Next time I talked to him he pulled up a file from Remitly.com which is a money transfer program. But he put Rahul as the recipient and me as the sender. He tricked me into putting my bank info in (again, I had a concussion). Luckily Remitly spotted the fraud and it didn’t go through. It would have wiped me out. (I have the emails from Remitly)

He called the next day and I said I wasn’t going to talk to him until I had my money back and I hung up. He called 10 times in a row, and sent numerous messages how I couldn’t get my money back unless he helped me.

I have the receipts from Best Buy, and emails from Remitly - first acknowledging receipt of the transfer and then denying it, because they spotted the scam.
