Person claimed that a person using my name and my ssn from New york was trying to get a credit card.

He verified address and other details then asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN

Which i gave. Then wanted the number of cards i had and sent me to experion so they could stop the requested credit card from being issued.

Capital one never called me when i realized i was scammed.

I got a message from “capital one” about a declined purchase on my account. Come to find out it was a capital one impersonator and they didn’t get to getting any info from me but was very close. Once I said I have no money the dude hung up. But now that I reported it to capital one my accounts are now restricted and will be closed in the future.

I was receiving numerous calls from different numbers, with first number identifying as Capital One. Finally answered and foreign man gave name , stating he was calling from Capitol One's fraud department. Said someone in Ohio was attempting to open account with my SS# ending in ****. It was correct mnumbers so he said he'd put me threw to Consumer Credit Financial Protection. When I spoke to man there he had my name, address and social numbers. He said he would put a watch on my accounts and listed some of them. Asked for my birthdate, which stupidity gave. Then he wanted my husbands info and I hung up. I then called Capital One and was informed they do not call, send letters. Also never work with the organization.

I received a letter that appeared to be from Capital One saying that that they were processing my recent application & needed some additional documentation: a Government-issued photo identification. I called the phone number on the letter & gave him only the Application ID number on the letter before I hung up. I called Capital One directly & they told me the letter wasn't from them.

I received a phone from 304-849-3087 reporting to be from the Fraud Department of Capital One, saying my capital one card had been used to purchase electronics from Amazon and sent to a Keven Brown in AZ. 1) i don't have a capital one card, 2) didn't order any electronics 3) I don't know a Kevin Brown. This went around for a while until they hung up since I would not provide them any information.

A man called said he was from Capital One and my account was compromised. He knew a lot of information about me already which at first I was hesitant but I had shopped at those stores. Temu was one and Walmart the other. He asked for my mother’s maiden name. I gave that and the last 4 of my social security. I know I was very dumb and not thinking but I have had my credit card comprised before. So how stupid I was to reveal my personal information. He knew the last 4 digits of my credit card. He asked me to confirm the whole number and 2 digit number on the back. He said he was transferring me to a “Stolen Agent” representative. I started getting really nervous and hung up. I called capital one and they said it’s a scam. She closed down my account right away. They still have my personal information that is useable to do something against me. I just wasn’t thinking straight. The guy kept calling and calling and called about 6 times. I finally answered and told him I know he was a scammer. He said no no no. I am really from capital one. I can’t believe I still have him that information. I know better.

I got an alert from Capital One through text and email about a possibly fraudulent charge. I responded to the message saying I did not authorize it. I received a call from a Capital One representative multiple times. When I called them back they confirmed a fraudulent charge and said they sent out a new card but noticed there was an odd Zelle transaction connected to my savings account. They told me I would get a Zelle reversal payment notification and told me I needed to transfer money from my savings to my checking account so they could create a new savings account number to prevent further fraudulent charges. They then told me to confirm a zelle reversal payment of $1,700 to get this money returned to my account. I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but they had me on the phone for over an hour and were very convincing and manipulative. They said their name was James and that their Capital One Employee ID number was 0527. Please help me.

Someone called me and asked if I had opened up a new credit card with CapitalOne. I told them no, they said someone was trying to open one up in my name and then they transfered me to a federal agent in Washington DC. He said a lot of people had been trying to open up different accounts using my name. He got very angry with me because I wouldn't answer his personal questions and then threatend to freeze all of my credit card and bank accounts for 9 months.

I received a letter in the mail from what looked like Capital One asking me to verify additional information on my account that was opened in May. There was a Capital One account opened in my name in May that I did not authorize so I called the number on the letter to dispute it. Turns out it was a fake number and I had given them my birth date and SSN.

Sent a letter saying it was Capital One and needed more information from me to process the application. I did not apply for a credit card. I already have a credit card from Capital One. Asked for me to mail a photograph or copy of the front and back of my driver's license. Also had a hard ding on my credit report from "Capital One" on the same day the letter was dated.

Left message from a Ginger to call concerning recent application. Then received 2 separate letters requesting addition information for SS#, Government ID, residential address and total income before 6/24/2024 with application. Letter looks authenic like it came from Capitalone. NO APPLICATION WAS EVER GIVEN TO THESE SCAMMERS AT ANY TIME.
