Got a text about a USPS package with a link to click on.

- Lutherville Timonium, MD, USA

I have been receiving multiple text messages claiming there is a package from USPS that is due to me.

This is a scam!

- Bellville, OH, USA

Second time receiving this text message in less then a week

- Columbus, OH, USA

I was texted by 714-642-8571 saying they had come acrosss a package from April owd to me. To assume ownership and confirm delivery I stupidly clicked the link which took me to a USPS survey page. I didn’t click anything else and exited the site.

I received the following text message. This was received after I’d already received 2-3 other text messages using my name, telling me about a package from April that was still pending. I didn’t trust those, so I didn’t trust this one either. However, this specifically mentions USPS and the others didn’t. I noticed the tracking number was quite short-way shorter than normal USPS tracking numbers. They also used my name.

Here is the text:

Ellen, important notification regarding your USPS shipment 6G72R4 from 08/15/2020. Proceed to l8smk.info/GpCzcSaOoM

Got a text saying that I have a package that needs to be picked up and to click the link.

A person called claiming to be with USPS. He said if I didn't give him my social security number they were going to freeze my account. But how are they going to freeze my account if they don't have my social security number? I knew it was a scam. He said his tag number is #147.

I was actually waiting delivery of a package today (7/29/2020), so when I received an email in my inbox from the USPS indicating that an attempt had been made to deliver a package, I responding by simply indicating that the postal person could deliver my package the next business day. Giving no other information than that, I pushed the reply button and then immediately saw a list of suspicious-looking contact names attached to the USPS forwarding address (I have included these "contacts" in the email address used by Scammer section). The email was absolutely authentic looking, including the USPS logo. I was duped because just by chance, I was expecting a postal package delivery, but the markup of the form also lended itself to authenticity. Don't know if this was "phishing" or some other nebulous scam, but I think folks need to be alerted. Fortunately, I didn't give any other information other than that someone would be home to sign for the expected package. I'm writing and filing this complaint in order to alert others to this deception.

Change of address.

I have emails.

I have the phone numbers and the fake phone number given to file a complaint.

- Sweetwater, TX, USA

I received notice from the USPS in the mail that my mailing address had been changed. I checked with my local USPS and they said that someone had apparently changed it online. I filed a mail fraud case with them, after getting my address straightened out. I, also, plan to write a letter to the local paper to let the public know about the issue.

I did a change of address for my mother and did not notice it was not official usps. I googled usps change of address and this is what came up.

- Frisco, TX, USA

Received a letter making it seem like I had missed a package.

They are selling home water filters.

- Honolulu, HI, USA

I received a text message yesterday with a image of USPS receipt with tracking number on it and $124. She left her voicemail today too.

Posing as usps to change your address then charging a large fee to do it.

Received a email about a position that I applied for months ago. I thought I was actually scheduled for a interview but the letter was fake. It has the USPS logo as the header. The scanner asked for personal infomation. I did fill some fills but didn't complete request. The scanners even have a GIS page. GIS perform background checks for potential employers. I have went through the steps to protect my identity. I still feel uneasy for future situations regarding my identity. If anyone applied for a open position with USPS look out for these scanners.

I heard that the local post office where hiring. So i went on to the websites to apply. When Applying the site said that there was a fee of $39.95 to register. I paid the fee, so i could apply and take the exams need for the jobs. Even after registering the site sent me an email verifying the information, but even applying for the jobs it would not allow me to take the exams. This was a red flag for me because even if they aren't excepting applications I still should have been able to take the exam. I contacted the person in charger of training/hiring for the Lexington KY Post Office to tell her that I paid the fee and would like to take the exam and ask why I was't able to take it. She ask what fee, all fees have been waved for awhile. she told me that I was probably hacked and and should contact the bank and BBB, so here I am.

I would like to say the website looked very really. and after I registered they even sent me a conformation email to conform my information.

I am not sure if it matters but i was trying to apply for a job in KY and the withdraw came out of TN. After conforming with the post office that there isn't a fee. I called the bank I am working on trying to get my money back but they say they have to get it from the post office, cause the withdraw has the post office name of it. so that is a long shot. I am out the money more than likely but hopefully I can stop this from happening to someone else.

I received a phone call from a "reverend" so-and-so from UPS or USPS. He asked how I was, I responded with "ok". He then asked another question that the appropriate response would have been "yes". At that point I hung up. Caller was calling my cellular phone number and his location that came up on caller id was Jamaica.

The email was from cymbrejunkin USPS parcel delivery manager. It had a tracking number in the email that was fraudulent.
