US Service Dog Registry Reports & Reviews (2)

According to the Americans with Disabilities Act and subsequent federal legislation, there is no registry for service animals required by law. There is no identification necessary in the form of vests, collars, ID cards, or any other form.

A service animal is either a dog or miniature horse prescribed by a licenced medical professional or mental health provider and trained to serve an individual to assist with their disability.

This website charges people to "help navigate the rules and regulations to certify emotional support or service animal and provide identification for the animal". They print certificates, provide ID cards, and identifying vests for a nominal fee. They also supply a letter from a "medical professional" sight unseen.

According to federal law a service dog must meet certain criteria, as well as the handler. Service dogs must be specifically task trained, public access trained, and adhere to a strict code of behavior. The handler must also have a disability as defined by the ADA and diagnosed by a doctor. This company offers fraudulent "registration" and identification of pets so that people can claim them as service animals. Not only are service dogs not required to be registered, a registry does not exist and this company is fraudulently charging people money to register pets as service animals. This is illegal.
