- Paragould, AR, USA

A prerecorded machine called with a robotic womans american voice valled stating that i had past due debt with social security and before i was sent to jail or before court i must call 202-858-7799. Upon calling a Pakistan man answered the phone wanting payment of taxes and social security and if i did not pay someone would be at my house within the hour to take me to jail. Needless to say he hung up and no one came.

The call starts out that your Social Security was compromised and that it will be deleted unless you contact the number stated. I did not contact that number so am not sure if they were asking for money to fix the problem.

- Honolulu, HI, USA

I got two calls close to each other this morning from a man stating we are being investigated for some sort of fraud on my social security. He gave me a number to call back but I did not call it. He did not state any additional information.

Consumer called:

Consumer called and advised she received a message on her machine saying it was a SKYPE call from the number

- Keller, TX, USA

Weekly calls from people with heavy accents pretending to be agents for the Social Security threatening that failure to hand an agent a check will result in arrest

I have received two calls today from this number. Both claimed to be from social security. One asking for my deceased husband stating that he is eligible for extra benefits. The second was from the same number but was a different caller who stated that I was eligible for extra benefit. Both callers tried to get my social and other personal information. I believed something wasn't right so I didn't provide. As social security is well aware of my husband's passing, I believe this to be a scam.

I was called by someone who said he was an officer from Social Security and that I was being charged with a legal matter. I just hung up. I have received 4 calls today. 8:34AM 12:00 Noon 2:08PM and 4:20PM

Calls started a week ago, since then 4 or 5 calls from a man with an accent who says he's from Social Security and he needs to verify my social security number. He has my address. He says that I've been scammed.

It sounded like a robo call. The voice was mechanical. A recorded message. Introduce himself as John from Social Security informing me that there had been fraudulent and illegal activities with my social security and I was to call ________ by the end of the day or my SS payments would be taken away. The call had a Kentucky area code. I hung up. Did not call back.

A "Maria Gomez" left a message on our home phone telling me that my social security number had been compromised in Texas and I needed to immediately call them on the specified phone number. A second call later in the day was left by a man who didn't say his name, however, he was more adamant that if I did not call the number, my social security number would be "blocked" immediately.

I did call that number and got another man who wanted me to wait for a moment while they pulled up my information.....I hung up the phone right then and called the BBB in Boise, Idaho.

I received a call from a gentleman who said he was with the Social Security Office and was calling about my application for disability. I have never applied for disability. He called several times and the last time he called, I told him that I had already called the Social Security Office and had reported his phone number to the FTC and then he hung up on me.

A message was left on our home phone at 9:52 am on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from a John Nielsen (sp?) stating he was from the Head Office of the Social Security Administration. He stated that my husbands social security number had been suspended for suspicion of illegal and fraudulent information. He advised us to call this number immediately 740-936-7250. He repeated the number twice.

I would like to report a scam in which the elder population are being targeted. I am a social worker/service coordinator at Nesmith Park Apartments in Cullman, AL., which is a Section 8 Housing for the elderly and the disabled. A resident has reported that she received a telephone call from Social Security stating that all persons would be receiving an increase of $85.00. The caller I.D. came up as unavailable. The person claimed to be Sharon Clark with Social Security, badge #MS4026, and knew the resident's name and D.O.B. but asked the resident for her mother's maiden name, her father's last name and the resident's bank account number.

Caller stated she got a call that her social security was going to be suspended if she didn't call back. She didnt call she called BBB instead.
