I received a voicemail from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration stating my social security number had been suspensed due to a crime and I needed to call the criminal division at the SSA 844-453-4257. I reported it to the police and they suggested I call the ScamPulse.com to report the number..

Someone called pretending to be the social security administration. They started off by saying that to address an important issue, they would need my social security number. I asked them "Wouldn't you already have my SSN?"

The individual on the phone went berserk and started saying some really inappropriate things. After I hung up on him, he kept calling back!

I received a call from someone who claimed to be a detective working for the Social Security Administration. He said that his name was Det. Brandon Hammer (India Accent was suspicious in relation to the name he gave) badge # 3RM2546. He claimed that my Social is under investigation for criminal activity in the San Antonio area. He continued to ask me for personal information to verify that he was speaking to the right person. I asked him to send me some information in writing confirming the claims he was making. He insisted that I listen to him and address the issue over the phone. When I told him to listen to me, he became defensive and told me that I could deal with the issue in court and hung up. VERY FRUSTRATING

A female, named Megan, from Social Security Administration called me and left a message that there is a legal enforcement filed on your Social Security number for criminal activities under section 18 of subsection 1028. Before this matter goes to the federal court house or before you get arrested, please call 281-603-6621. I called the number and “Megan” answered the phone. She had an Indian accent. She told me my name and address. She wouldn’t reveal how she got my information. She did say that a car was rented in my name and number and it was left abandoned in Texas. She said I’m the one they are looking for and criminal activities have been done using my number. She said she wouldn’t reveal any specific information about the case. I became angry and asked her if I need to file a police report or call a lawyer. She told me to do that if I wanted to, but she tried to talk more about the case. I told her that I wouldn’t be giving her any information and I will take action when I hang up the phone. She gave me her employee number: IRM231276 and another number DC179281. I then hung up.

- North Augusta, SC, USA

Called by a person claiming to be with social security. Asked to verify name, DOB and last four digits of SSN. Claimed I was being charged with drug trafficking and money laundering due to use of my SSN with a rental car found in Houston, Tx and banking documents with my name. I eventually became suspicious and found out this was a scam going around. I then asked for his name, employer identification which he gave as Kevin Jones and EIN 25173. When I asked for his location he became more hostile and threatened this would be the only warning I get about this matter. As I pressed for his location he became louder and more aggressive in which I finally told him he was a scam artist and he immediately hung up.
